Oh his way home from a business trip, Hubby stopped at Aldi and made a lovely purchase…Fresh Trout. I worked all day, and called him before I left town to see what he’d like for dinner. That’s when I found out about the fish, so I stopped off to purchase from fresh dill, asparagus, and a lemon.
We had butter-poached trout, steamed asparagus, baked potatoes, and (why he wanted this I do not know…but) baked beans. I did not have any potatoes or beans, but did have a wee bit of asparagus.
I was astonished at how good the trout was. One does not often think of Aldi as a top-notch grocer, but, that was some very good fish. Not slimy and stinky at all. We were quite impressed.
Before I arrived home, our youngest son (22) stopped over to drop off some tools he borrowed, and when he saw the fish, he politely begged to stay for dinner. (He LOVES fish!) He had moved out of our house and down to the farm earlier this year, and well, he doesn’t cook all that much, nor does he eat terribly healthy. He recently spent every last cent he had to purchase a more sturdy car for the winter, so his grocery funds are zilch. Of course we had him stay for dinner- and he was so happy! He even took pictures of his dinner, and sent it to his friends- captioned “When Mom cooks dinner…”
