I listen to them on YouTube. There is a whole series with Dr. Fung, like 12 videos, or something like that…
The 2KetoDudes podcast #61 is titled Metabolic Rate

You can listen via your browser or download and put on your tablet or phone. Also most smartphones have an app that you can subscribe and play podcasts on, this is the link to all the episodes by the 2ketodudes.

@daddyoh same here, when I’m doing 18/6 IF I feel satiated, more in control and less bloated. Other days when I’m not IF I snack all day, never satisfied and never really hungry either if that makes any sense. I guess I feel best when my insulin stays quiet and my digestive system gets to rest for many hours between meals.

broke it at 90h. I could have gone longer, but I am going out to a food market with friends tonight and I wanted to get possible gut upsets over with until then…

But guess what? I feel great, stomach is rumbling like crazy but other than that it feels fine. positively surprised!

I have begun what i hope to be an extended fast, at least 5 days, hopefully more. My questions are: What are the best things to eat to break a water fast? I have heard bone broth and coconut oil, what next? How about macadamia nuts? Maybe a salad? How soon before i have a meal? I did a 103 hour fast and ended up with stomach issues a few days after I ate. That fast i broke with scrambled eggs, bell pepper and grape tomatoes, cause that is all I had in the fridge. I want to plan it better this time.

I broke it with pulled pork and an omelet. This time and it worked quite well.

For me adding lots of fat to the first meal is not an option. Nuts will totally kill me after a fast…

I’ll have my protein and a digestive enzyme, wait an hour or two and have some fat after.

YMMV though

Scrambled eggs are my go-to fast breaking, about 30-60 min after a cup or two of broth. I’ve done that for my extended fasts. Disclaimer being my extended fasts have included BPC and salted broth at times.

Had lunch and it’s still with me digestively, so more of a one meal day. If it were Friday going into Saturday, I’d try a fast. Knowing work tomorrow, I’ll want the conversation and food at lunch. Maybe just broth.

Hi gang! I missed you guys.
I successfully used EF and IF to fast to goal weight for our wedding. I took a break for a month during August with wedding, family and travel. I ate 1 to 3 meals daily, mostly low carb, with a few splurges. Gained 10 pounds back so I’m back to IF and strict keto. It’s coming off easily. I learned a few things that might be of interest, just my experience, soYMMV.

—My two week EF a few months ago had lots of benefits but also two drawbacks that showed up weeks later - my hair got thinner and my nails weaker (splitting and peeling). Both improved when I went to IF and upped my protein. My IFs are anywhere from 24 to 96 hours these days.

—I find that I feel & function better with a higher protein intake vs lower. Does not change my rate of weight loss. It does raise my AM blood glucose numbers slightly, but we’re talking 75 to 85 so still okay. I have more energy and put off more body heat so maybe it’s good for my BMR.

—My ability to fast has greatly improved, but for me the biggest thing that derails a fast is life stress. I have learned to choose my battles. When I am super stressed, top quality regular keto meals really help me.

—EF & IF dramatically improved my leaky gut issues. I saw more healing in a few months of fasting than in YEARS of supplements and limited diet. During my month off I was able to eat offending foods without problems for the first time in years. I’ve dropped them again now that I’m home but it was so nice to have more food options while away (& with extended family), without symptoms.

I really want to thank each of you.
I deeply appreciate you sharing what works for you and what doesn’t. The discussions here first helped me make a U-turn on the road to T2D. Now they help me stay motivated & remind me that we are in this for life, so any and all progress is cause for celebration!

For me, eggs were not a nice breaker, nor nuts. But it was suggested to me to try a salad, with Olive Oil and dressing, then wait 30 to 60 minutes before eating a meal. So far, anything but eggs or nuts have worked fine when I’ve done this. But I do like using the salad as a primer, which hasn’t failed yet. … But do hear eggs work fine for some. But based on my first time with them, I will abstain until at least the next day after fasting.

Is it ok to fast while taking antibiotic?

I just completed 48 hours of EF going to day 3

I could not fast without antibiotic. I think I have issue with guts flora or possible H.Pylori preventing me from fasting.

last 3 day fast was few months back it was the best experience of my life but was not able to repeat without the help of antibiotic.

Felt like fasting so stopped eating after dinner last night, won’t be eating anything til around noon tomorrow so should get in about 40 hrs. of fasting. I’m about to go to bed and tomorrow is my follow up meeting with dr about my current NMR results. I hope she’s as happy with it as I am.

(Jane) #152

I think I will join you guys some time this weekend. Haven’t decided when so will just wing it and start when it feels good.

Had too many carbs last night at a company dinner and was blowing 0 on my breathylizer this morning. Strict keto today so should have excess ketones by this evening since I didn’t go overboard. Couldn’t have been more than 50 carbs. But even so feel sluggish this morning.

In hour 35 of my weekly 60 hour fast.

(KCKO, KCFO 🥥) #154

Had a great dr. appt. She was delighted with my changes. She wishes her other patients would see the excellent results I have. She doesn’t want to see me again til next year and she will do the NMR test again instead of the simple lipo test. I was fasted today for a little over 36 hrs. when I went in so my weight was at the lower end of my weight range and she is very happy to see I am keeping my weight off. My IR score was at under the lowest range, so we were both happy about that one.

(Running from stupidity) #155

+1 for these things - cheap and convenient.

Waiting for Brenda to post the Zornfast thread for Sept. Anyone new joining in? I have done those for over a year now. Love it.

#157

I’m 46 hours into a 72-hr fast. I always know it’s day 2 when I start looking at all the recipe threads. :joy: But feeling great so far!

@collaroygal congrats on your great lab results!

This is what I do too, it’s hard to plan ahead. It’s like all the stars have to align and my fridge has to be empty of leftovers so I don’t feel bad for wasting food!

(Jane) #159

I hear ya!

I was going to start after lunch today but checked my hotel fridge and there was leftover ribeye in there… If I waste food my Mom haunts me in my head and gives me “the look”. So I ate it for dinner and started my Vora app.

The bad thing about it is I am on an expense account until next Wed and it wouldn’t cost me anything to toss the steak… and the company would pay for my meals this weekend… but I couldn’t toss the steak (thanks, Mom) and I am ready to fast so I don’t care about the free meals. Nothing sounds good to me right now so that’s my cue it’s time.
