A hot bath with epsons salts works wonders. Also a cup of camomile tea and you will be out in secs… good luck.
New Year 2018 fast?
21 hours in and feeling great. Lots of water and a little black coffee and unsweetened tea have kept me going.
So today is day 5. Yesterday I got so sick and tired of feeling hungry I ate some macadamias. I refuse to feel like that was a fail. I was so hoping I would experience the general absence of hunger as many people report. My BG was 3.1 and K 5.3 this morning so I’m happy with how this is going for me. Did my daily hill walk today but feeling pretty tired now. Temperature is 26°C and 59% humidity. Grateful for my chair under the tree in the shade.
I would like to join in too. I started last ight and hope to get to 36 hours. Feeling good today.
One day ahead of you
Great thing is i don’t have to get up early to prepare lunches and dinners
Trying for 3 Days. With the help of BPC. I still need the crutch. Maybe always will at least with HWC in my morning coffee. Ketoaide is a great help too!
Good luck everyone.
I’m in! I’m currently 23 hours in and I am looking to go at least 72 hours, but would go longer depending on how I feel! I fell off the wagon hard in December and it’s time to get back on track! Good luck everyone!
Yesterday was day 4. I was both annoyed and disappointed that I was still feeling so hungry. After eating the macadamias last night I feel so much better today. Hunger much lower and managable today. Phew. I was getting to the stage where I thought I might have to give up. Hoping to see myself make it to 7 days.
I’m on day 2 and feeling shite.
I made a version of keto-aide to use this time (using a magnesium plus powder and lite salt) and have been feeling headachy the whole time and currently ravenous. I’m wondering if it’s something in the new magnesium powder that’s causing the headache.
Into hour 37 now, feeling good. Only water and salt to this point. Feeling strong, with minimal cravings. This is also my first fast that I have started whilst not in Ketosis. I had a bit of departure from keto during the holidays and my ketones were 0.1 mm when I started and 0.3 at hour 36. Keep Calm and Fast ONNNNN!!
. I am at my cooking job, making soups for the cold and hungry hordes and not really tempted too much…at hour 45 or so…time for some more salt…
?maybe more salt. For me, salt helps with headaches. Not sure about the magnesium. Mg usally upsets tummies.
Right behind ya at 36.5 hours! Ketones burning hot, appetite dulled - feeling like things are back on track. Woot woot!! We can do this
Taken plenty of salt already… a bit more than I’d usually have while fasting as I still had some cramps last time. No issues with tummy trouble from the magnesium, just the headache and dizziness. I’ve taken similar ones before (just hate the watermelon flavour so thought I’d try an orange one).
Broke the fast and will see how the headaches go, then try again some time in the next week - if they come back, I’ll ditch the magnesium powder/lite salt mix that I made up and try the lite salt with my other magnesium to see whether that fixes it.
Could also be compounded by hot weather (weather app today showed 37 degrees Celsius but “feels like 41 degrees”) and not enough sleep. Love this weather app - but it was a bit rude of it to suggest bacon during a fast!
In the process of breaking the fast. I made it 8 days. 1 through 6 weren’t that bad. I fought off a cold in the middle of it. Day 7 I started having very low energy and sleeping alot. Day 8, my muscular endurance was shot, temperature was down. I had to walk 4 miles in sunny, breezy, 1 degree fahrenheit weather and was totally tapped less than half way home. I got in, found my body temp had topped to 91 degrees, feeling so horrible. So, I made the executive decision to end it early. half an hour after eating a small peace of left over fat head pizza and a few fried shrimp my body temp was back to normal.
I’ll consider it a successful fast and look towards picking it back up very soon.
Hahaha on the bacon suggestion. Damn app. Good job listening to your body-the great thing about fasting is the total control - break it anytime and pick it back up anytime. I’m working on remembering this and not getting too hung up on hours / length of fast, instead letting it become more intuitive. I hope the same will eventually happen with my hunger signals and eating but seems like that will be a long road for me!
Wow! 8 days is absolutely fantastic ! great job and thanks for sharing!!
37 hours in. Loved sleeping through the 24-hour mark! Apparently I should always enjoy a night of feasting leading up to a midnight start! Feeling good and pretty high energy today- just ran 3 miles of intervals and did some gentle weight lifting for my workout and energy level was totally normal - haven’t hit my weird mania / hyperactivity yet, thank goodness. Would love if the timing of my start meant that hit during the daytime but suspect it will keep me up one of these nights!
