April 2025 Intermittent/Extended Fasting All Welcome
#2

Last month until raging fruit season arrives (not like I ever stopped eating fruit this winter for some reason) so I better go back to my lunch skipping no coffee carnivore-ish wishful plan  The month started with a long weekend and I am less strict on weekends especially IF wise but I am getting ready for a moderate miracle starting Monday!
I couldn’t even do 2MAD lately as I always got hungry for the 3rd time. My meals got smaller so skipping lunch should be very helpful even though I always was a bit hungry when ate lunch. But I have plenty of experience with not eating when little hunger comes and it just stays little and not annoying. I still find it strange, my little hunger got progressively more and more severe in my carbier times (even on low-carb).

Good luck, everyone!

There doesn’t seem to be much activity anywhere on the forums lately. I’m wondering if the site is healthy.

If you are around and reading this please at least reply with a like or icon.

I feel like we may have reached a tipping point when we lost several prolific posters at once toward the end of last year, it’s been slow and a bit dull since. :face_with_head_bandage:

Hopefully things will liven up a bit, but I hear nothing in main stream but the virtues of plant foods lately.

The carnivores killed this forum.

Hopefully we were tasty.

The carnivores disappeared, sadly. From the usual carni threads but at least I am not here that often anymore… And other interesting new things rarely pop up nowadays.

Doing regular 48-72 HR fasts, just getting close to goal…I am not good at maintaining but really hope I can this time!

I have to say I notice that every time I stop by. Most days there are no more than four or five topics being discussed. There’s really very little going on and I wouldn’t be surprised if it went away.

Well, more to the topic, since the start of this year, I’ve sort of been running an experiment on my once a week fasts. One month doing essentially PSMF. Just a couple of hundred calories, one meal a day, almost always a protein drink. The next month I’ll do a “true fast” - quotes because I still have coffee with HWC and usually a cup of hot tea at dinner. My conclusion is that it doesn’t really matter, so I find the true fast easier to follow than the PSMF.

Restarted keto back in Feb after a long hiatus. Had tremendous success back in 2018 but then life just happened and I slipped back to old patterns. Got my wakeup the day before Valentine’s with a DM2 diagnosis. Immediately resumed keto, down 40+lbs, glucose below 115 consistently and was able to do a 2 day fast twice. I know benefits are greatest at the 3 day mark but I’m going to celebrate the NSV and shoot for a 3+ day fast in June. Also, after fasting, glucose has been more on the 90s even after resuming eating!

Really well done! :grinning:

I am now at goal! :grinning:

Welcome to the forums.

Sounds like you are back on track and doing very well. Keep it up.

Congrats, well done, YOU.

I am not around as much any more, but I like to come in and read the latest posts occasionally. Last year I went on a GLP-1 medication and stopped being as low carb, so I don’t feel like I have as much to add. (Could GLP-1s have killed the forum?)

I don’t usually do true fasts these days, but every 4 or 5 weeks I do a fasting mimicking diet. Occasionally I use the Prolon box, but most of the time I do it as a DIY version, using Amy’s organic vegetable soups, Trader Joe’s olive packets, and the Prolon Fasting Bars. I’ve been making slow progress. I dropped my A1c to 5.5, no longer prediabetic. It was 6.3 3 years ago, but through some intermittent fasting and low carb, and then adding metformin, and finally adding tirzepatide, I’ve dropped that A1c along with about 30 lbs.
