Last minute decision to go for a 48 hour fast. The last I ate was the gigantic ribeye last night - around 5ish. We’re back home from our weekend away, it’s 6:00 pm and I’m really not starving. I could eat, but…meh, I’m going to skip it.
Pretty sure I can make it to 5:00 pm tomorrow for dinner.
I’m on the fasting clock as of 6:30 CDT. I’m going to see how I feel Wednesday evening and either stop at 72 or go for 96. I ate big this weekend, so I should sail through 3 days. KCFO, everyone.
Hello fasting friends! I’m at 26 hours & it’s bedtime, nice As many of you know I’d like to lose more weight but my weight loss has pretty much gone glacial for 6 months. I tried lowering protein for a month or 2 in case that was it, nope, that wasn’t it. Went dairy free for April, no noticible weightloss (yay, I can have dairy!)
Recently I’ve started suspecting I’ve been undereating by accident & that might be the problem. (Less fat on the body = fewer calories coming from that side of the equation, more needed from the plate.) So the last two weeks I’ve been consciously increasing my calories up from 1,400 to 1,600 and up by adding fats plus that bump back up to slightly more protein. So far no weird jumps on the scale so that’s reassuring. Things seem to holding pretty steady. I didn’t think I had a CICO mindset but maybe I did!! Ugh. You can study & study & still be clueless.
Yesterday I had an unusual three meal day & ate over 2,200 calories. Today I’m fasting & it’s going very smoothly so far, Last week I got no sleep Saturday night & could only fast 24 hours the next day, so this is already better.
I do use pure fats on my fasts like coconut oil & ghee, but not usually more than 4tbs per day, usually just 3.
I did my third weekly workout this morning & it went great. Still working my way into my old exercise routine, not going full steam ahead yet. No hurry. Still astonished how much less effort it is to jump around minus 45 pounds & hella inflammation. I feel retroactively sorry for pre Keto heavier me who did this exercise 3x a week with no weight loss & truly suffered. Ugh.

Maybe not clueless, but brainwashed. It was pounded in to us for so long that we were eating too much and not moving enough.
I’m going into this fast after a couple of pretty big “feast” days, too. I think that’s the key to building my fasting muscle.

stopped eating yesterday evening. aiming for 48 hrs only since i want to work out… yes I know working out fasted can be amazing, but lately I don’t seem to get to that sweet spot lately…

38 hours into my first 72 hour fast, feeling great. This is my second fast since starting keto at the end of March. Down 19 pounds since then. Did my daily 6 mile walk yesterday, heading out for todays walk soon, and have fire department training tonight, so lots of activity. Might get out for a kayak if the weather improves.
I might be fasting today, haven’t decided yet… had a fatty coffee earlier just because my caffeine addiction told me to, but don’t feel like eating. If hunger strikes later then I’ll deal with it, if not then I’ll fast… maybe tomorrow too, depends how I feel. I’m not feeling very decisive today
Fasting today until this evening at least for 24hr, maybe extend to tomorrow lunch since I don’t have anything in particular planned for dinner this evening. I want to get in 3 24hr fasts this week. Monday, Wed & Fri.

Good morning. Enjoying my BPC at about hour 40. Like last time, I went to bed quite hungry, and woke up feeling fine.
Not even in my mind to try to go past my 48 hour goal. Looking forward to the dinner I have planned for later!
Broke my last fast on Friday. I am back at it for 72 hours…starting last night around 10pm.
Well the fasting gods are fickle sometimes, I ended up eating on Sunday, but started another fast after dinner last night.
I feel no shame when I blow a fast, I just try to start on another one after a good refeeding. So it is all good.
I can’t say the same. I’ve snapped before 24 hours is up. Tomorrow is my dog’s surgery, and my hubby told me something’s wrong with the truck. I’m a stress eater - I guess I’ll be eating today. I made myself a chocolate macadamia milk earlier, vacuum packed some spinach. and I’m thawing out some turkey wings. At least I’m getting something constructive accomplished. I’ll see about jumping back in on Wednesday when my dog is home & settled.
Sometimes you eat the bear, and sometimes the bear eats you.

Wishing you the best with those stresses!! I can’t fast when stressed either. My favorite thing about fasting is you can quit any time.

My second fast, my second observation. Right now I am at 47 hours and I’m truly not that hungry. It’s so odd. It seems that from about hour 24 until I go to bed, I am ravenous. Like eat my arm hungry.
But then I go to sleep, I wake up for my BPC coffee, and here I am at 47 hours and I could probably go longer. But I’m not going to. I’m going to have dinner with my husband. It does sort of amaze me how these things work.
Susan, the second day being the hardest is pretty common. If anything, I think it gets easier as one does more fasts.
