14 day fast, here we go!

#141

Wow…Scatter…you are killing it dude!

#142

My normal 1 meal a day. Usually some type of fatty protein, had short rib, scrambled eggs with cheese and bacon Day 1 after fast, some cheese sticks then about 4oz of steak and some liverwurst both slathered with Prime Kitchen Chipotle Lime mayo day 2, yesterday pork ribs with a salad with feta cheese and olive oil and avc dressing.

Gained another .6 lbs… So, not sure how to say post fast weight gain was, because the morning weight after my first feeding night after the fast was a 3lb loss. From that lowest weight I have gained .9lbs.

So, pretty happy thus far with it.

Thanks Bob! Appreciate the updates.

#144

Sure, so last night I had two bacon and cheddar cheese, burgers with avocado mayo, horseradish mustard in iceberg lettuce wrap. Yum! Gained another pound.

Hope that’s the end of the gaining. I have yet to have a “movement”.

#145

Perhaps the absence of “movement” explains some of the weight gain?

(Jeff Waters) #146

I wish you a healthy 8lb delivery!

#147

Ok…I ended the fast at 26 days. Felt fine, no issues, but just lost the will to take it further. I’m happy I did it. I like to test myself.

BP consistently in the good range, and I will keep close track of it as I move forward. Abcess nearly gone, on antibiotics trying to kill the last of it. 34 pounds down, which puts me within 25 pounds of goal weight.

All in all, a good experience I hope not to repeat for a looooooong time.

#148

Right, most of the gain is probably my colon filling back up.

#149

Bravo, Scatter!!

(Jeff Waters) #150

That is incredible, @Scatter! Bravo!

#151

Well, no problem refeeding. Started with some black olives, moved on to sausage and eggs, been picking all night with nary a rumble.

Starting another long one tomorrow morning.

Hopefully pushing to my birthday on the 12th feb.

Thanks for the inspiration and pearls of wisdom! I’m currently 60 hours into a ??? hour fast. Really enjoyed the play by play of how your fasts went. As a big bonus, this thread was long enough to take my mind off of whatever pangs I had been experiencing! Thanks again and kudos

Put on 8 pounds since Friday…eating indiscriminately, paying only slight attention to carbs. Wanted to switch my body rapidly into acknowledgement of feast mode.

Today back to my normal eating pattern, diving into ketosis. Curious to see how my body reacts.

#155

I should join you! My birthday is the 15th.

#156

Congrats! You did great!

More than welcome. Support between mates is always good.

I may be joining you for part of your 14 day fast. I’m at the end of my 7 day fast, and I’m thinking about pushing it 7 more days.

Final Results

To recap: Starting Jan 3, I did a 1 week IF, averaging 4 hours eating window per day. Then, I did a 14 day water fast. Then I did IF for a week before reporting these numbers today (to allow for any weight regain, etc).

At the end of the 14 day fast, I lost 25.2 lb and 4.5" from the fatest part of my gut.
1 week of IF later, I’m at 23.2 lb lost (since Jan 3) and 2.5" off the gut.

So, I’ll call it a 2-ish lb regain immediately following the 14 day fast. I was expecting 5-10 lb regain. Perhaps not as much regain because I was very conscious of staying fully hydrated during the fast?

One other observation: I think I have been shooting myself in the foot with IF by including butter in my coffee (2-3 cups of coffee) in the morning prior to my eating window. That stops now as an experiment.

Also, the gut measurement isn’t super scientific. A little higher or lower and the number can change a lot.

Next
I plan to do a 5 day fast immediately following Super Bowl Sunday Feb 6-10.

Then, I’ll shooting for a 30 day fast starting Feb 26. I plan to break that fast on my birthday, March 28. I will start that fast as a water only fast, but may add in nightly broth and possibly a bit of MCT oil if necessary in order to sustain me till the end. I’ll make a new post here if you’d like to follow that (and provide the FANTASTIC support that helped me through this 14 day fast!!!)

Thanks to everyone for your help!

I think I read it correctly that you plan to break your 30-day fast a few days before your birthday? This is good, in that you don’t want to have a birthday feast the day of or next day of breaking your fast, to give your gut time to rev back up.

Good job on your excellent work on fasting, by the way! Bravo!
