14 day fast, here we go!

(Jeff Waters) #1

I did a 3 and 4 day fast last year. Then I ate like an idiot November and December.

For the last 2 weeks, I did 16-18 hour IF with LCHF in preparation for attempting a 14 day fast.

I’m on day 2 now and feeling fine.

We’ll see how it goes, I like a big challenge. But, I’ll stop, of course, if I start feeling ill.

Will post here occasionally worth observations.

Happy New Year!

Go get it, day two is always the hardest for me.

I’ll be following your progress. I’ve done 18:6 fasts this week and am about ready to talk myself into a 4 or 7 day - I’m the type to dip my toe in the water instead of diving in, as you are apparently doing. Best of luck and report in on your progress.:+1:

Good show! Hope you keep us posted on your journey.

Good luck!

I’m going with ya! Actually at day 11 now. Watch your electrolytes! Look up the Ketoaide recipe in the search bar.

So far so good…feel fine. Down 16 pounds, but of course there will be a rebound to some extent. Looking to make it until the 19th, which will be 18 days.

Hunger under control, coming in short waves which can be surfed with little effort. Trying to reset my very high BP, which Dr Fung says may be effectively reset in 10-14 days. Also an absessed tooth, which is improving. Fingers crossed.

Day 4 complete here
All good!

#8

Bravo Scatter…wow!

#9

By the way Scatter, I’m on my day 6 of 7 and lost 12.8 lbs. geeez!!! When I did my 33 day a couple months ago, it took me 31 days to lose that much!!!

Something is happening…I think I shifted something in my biochemistry. I have to figure this out.

New mystery that needs solving.

Day 1 complete. Aiming for 7. May go longer.

#11

Great job Fiorella! Odd thing today… Woke up with my stomach in full rumble ar 5AM, and it is still going! I’ve never been past seven days so I don’t know if this is normal or not. Weird.

(Jeff Waters) #12

Thanks everyone! Day 3 complete worth no issues. Couple of rough waves of hunger, but easy to get through with distraction.

Yesterday I just got in the car and went off to run errands for a couple hours while the family ate dinner. That worked well.

So far no mental fog and plenty of energy.

I’m doing only water, coffee, and tea.

Can you tell me where Dr. Fung talks about fasting and high BP? Is it a podcast or book? 11 days is mighty impressive!

#14

It’s possible your body is getting ready to excrete a bowel movement. Sorry for the TMI. It actually happened to me on day 18. I couldn’t believe it. Drink lots and keep at it. You are doing great.

#15

Noice… I plan to start a 14 day next week, Sunday dinner will be my last meal.

After reading More/Fung fasting book I was inspired to do a 14 day to try to fix some stuff. Hopefully I can get my fasting BG below 100 during the 2 weeks. That is my goal more even than the weight loss. But 10 lbs or so would be nice too.

@Pilotbob, Hope you let us know your progress…so we can give you support and advice. I did it alone…it was tough. Before moore/Fung’s book, I did 7 and 14 day fasts, and using google as my info guide :frowning2: I couldn’t tell anyone…because I know what negative reaction I would get. When I did my 33 day fast a couple of months ago, I told one friend…big mistake! I got the lecture about being anorexic. I’d get texts like “please eat something, please, your heart will stop ticking if you keep this going”.

Support and knowledge is helpful. I had things happening to my body that were complete surprises. My tongue developed coatings of different colours, bowel movements beyond 2 weeks and with different colours (sorry, I know, TMI), breaking out into pimples on legs and arms, etc. I realize now that it was all normal detoxification and autophagy releasing toxins that were locked in my fat. This is what happens when you go whole hog water/coffee/tea only fasting for many days. Get prepared for your body to seek out all the crap in your body (bad tissue, fat, tumours, etc) and use them for energy to keep you alive. In other words, your body will use the shit that is trying to kill you to keep you alive…pretty cool concept.

I wish the best for you. Hope you post your progress. And don’t feel bad to cut the fast off before your target end date. One step at a time. Build up your fasting durations…you build up the stamina and practice to withstand longer fasts.

Thanks for the encouragement. I do IF 20/4 m-f and 16/8 ss, and last month did a 4 day fast. I was going to do another 4 day this month, but decided on a 14. so hopefully it won’t be too much of a shock.

Way back when, like probably over 15 years ago, I did a 28 day water fast. I only stopped because they book I read on fasting at the time pretty much said 28 days is the longest fast you should do without close Dr supervision.

Yea, telling people about keto is something I don’t do, cause it seems like everyone knows more about nutrition than I do, cause I’m fat. Telling them I’m fasting and I’m sure they will baker act me.

#18

Days two and three are the PITS… Great job getting past them! It gets better from there.

#19

Oh boy…I would be hard pressed to nail it down because I heard it referenced on a podcast ( and I listen to a TON of those). Maybe scoot over to IDM and enter BP in the search bar??

I have a BP monitor on the way from Amazon so I can see the results. As fir the abcess, it was large, sore, red, and oozing things I won’t delineate here when I started. Today it is small, pink, and free of funk.

My digestive system normally shuts down after day 2…I have had a tiny bit of activity, but not much.

Lots of hunger pangs today. Visions of liverwurst, bacon, and marinara over zoodles dancing in my head. A bit spacey as well.
