idk… I think I’m going to break my fast. It will be 7 days, 15lbs lost, BG’s lowered nicely. I’m freezing cold and miss eating.
I know, I’m weak… what can I say.

Hey, the important thing about fasting is learning how to listen to your body…not reach an arbitrary goal.
@Pilotbob, call it, man! No shame. In fact, you’ve achieved something that probably bone of your friends have!
Just take it easy when you start eating. Stay LCHF and start worth something small. Then wait 30 minutes to an hour before eating more. The theory is that will help stop you from binging.
7 days is ANYTHING but weak buddy. Ask around and see how many folks you know outside this forum that have even lasted 24 hours? YOU, my friend, ROCKED IT!
Found out why I am feeling so crappy. BP is 112/65. Not enough to keep a mouse alive. Odd that my BP would dip like that…nothing varied an iota. Upping the salt, then monitoring.
Mine used to always be around 90 over 55. I think it’s more “normal” now since I haven’t been doing HIIT, and endurance stuff.
My results:
Here’s what I posted on Facebook this morning. I didn’t tell many people I was doing this, so I’m kind of eager for the backlash.
I fasted for 14 days, and here’s what happened.
Sounds nuts, I know. But, all religions and most societies have had a fasting tradition since the dawn of man.
Last year, I tried a 3 day and 4 day fast with no ill effects. Disgusted with my eating behavior (and weight gain) through the holidays, I embarked on a fasting regime starting Jan 3.
For the 1st 7 days, I did IF (intermittent fasting)-- meaning, I ate within a 3-8 hour window towards the end of each day. I primarily ate an LCHF diet (low carb, high fat).
Then, I did a water fast for the next 14 days. That is just water, coffee, and tea. I took a multivitamin every day, and occasionally took some shots of pickle juice or apple cider vinegar to help keep the electrolytes in check.
Day 4 and 12 were pretty awful, but most of the other days I felt no serious hunger. In fact, I enjoyed a ton of energy and mental clarity.
There were 2 days somewhere in there where I remember feeling very cold, despite no one else in the house feeling cold.
The result:
I lost 25.2 lb and 4.5" around the fattest part of my gut.
What’s next:
I expect to gain back 5-10 lb of water weight as I start eating again.
If I ever do such an extended fast again, it’ll probably only be once a year. I’m contemplating doing a 5 day fast once a month until I reach my desired weight.
Why:
Constant insulin creation and insulin sensitivity are the cause of our obesity problem. Fasting fixes that.
I’m about 92 hours into my extended fast. I felt great yesterday, this morning I’m a little foggy and feel like I didn’t get a good nights sleep. BP this morning is 111/65. BG is 79 this morning, which is the lowest I’ve seen in a long time. I’m hoping to go on for 7-14 days.
Yep did it. Had some macadamia nuts, and then about 30 minutes later a short rib, scrambled eggs with cheese and of course bacon. No issues at all. Hope the weight rebound is not to much.
Feel much warmer today. Actually felt much warmer after the nuts.
@Pilotbob, isn’t it amazing how we become more attuned to our bodies with fasting, such as noticing the warming effects of a few macadamia nuts? I don’t know about you, but I now recognize subtle effects today that before fasting would have gone completely ignored and undetected.
By the way, well done on your fasting! Bravo!
This is hilarious…possibly a lesson learned here. As in don’t tell people while you fast, so that you don’t get the “fear-talk”. Tell them when you are done. Reminds me of the famous quote, “everyone says it’s impossible, until it’s done!”
Feeling way better today! Sadly though, I’m reduced to inhaling the aroma over the family dinner before I let it be served… Opening jars of peanut butter just for the smell…driving slow past burger joints with my head out the window like a dog.
All this stuff about not being hungry this deep into a fast? BALDERDASH!!
Thanks for posting the results Bob! I’m curious how the weight tracks post extended fast. I’m actually pretty shocked that there’s been such a negligible gain considering the water/ glycogen replenishment. What have you been eating?
Just into day 25…the excruciating hunger of the past several days has abated (thank God).
