Indian spiced cauliflower rice with spinach, tomatoes, ground beef, and melted cheese
What did you Keto today?
Charcol grilled filet steak, asparigus, baby tomatoes with garlic & butter fried shiitake & portabello mushrooms…a bit of black garlic … oh and extra butter slatherd over everything on the grill.
My A1c was 5.1 but this visit it was 5.8. It took a while to discover where the spike came from. 3-4 weeks before my test, I felt dehydrated and used zip fizz to add electrolytes. Even having a couple a day. So with a less than desirable A1c, I did an n=1 on several things including zip fizz. My blood sugar spiked to 131. I hadn’t seen that number since becoming fat adapted. I think it is the guavana seed, which is in many sports drinks.
I recommend testing your tolerance. If you have better results than my n=1, you can order zip fizz on Costco.com. My favorite flavors were grap, fruit punch and limon.
Wow, thanks for the heads up. I have been having one a day but haven’t been testing in combination with it.
Hostess cakes are a weakness. I often splurge and eat a half dozen different ones. Decided tonight I’d make my own.
90 second bread as the base.
Instead of 1tbls butter, I used ghee (all out of butter).
Melted a serving (18g so a little more) of Bakers chocolate in the ghee.
26g erythritol.
21g almond flour.
1 egg.
.5tsp baking powder (supposed to be .25, oops).
1tbls powdered Pb.
100% satisfies that craving.
Wild caught scallops from the Atlantic gently poached in butter in the sous vide for 30 mins at 123F, then tossed into a pan with the butter for a flavourful sear - next to a bed of bacon alfredo (shirataki fettuccini).
Sautéed the noodles in garlic infused bacon nectar before folding them into the sauce.
I’ve always wondered if that claim meant they came from the wild, or if it was just a crazy boat ride…
Last night was the 2nd batch of Enchiladas made with the chicken lunch meat used as tortillas. You guys gotta try it!
And today I’m playing with Casein…here’s a personal size “loaf” from the Diabetic Cookery Book by Rebecca Wolff Oppenheimer.
I want to like this but gerkins are the devil’s food, the burger looks super tasty though.
Well, if it helps it was UK gherkins grated up into the coleslaw … which arnt the same as the wee lil sweet US gherkins (really its just crunchy pickles here)
Typically the ones we eat on burgers and such aren’t sweet. We do have sweet pickles but usually that’s not what’s on them. I particularly hate sweet pickles or butter pickles.
Me too. My mother in law makes relish and gives it out. I asked if she would t mind making me dill relish. She basically just added dill to her sweet relish. It was so sickening sweet, I could t eat it. And that was years before Keto.
I learned to make my own after that.
