What Did You Keto Today? The Trilogy!

#443

Finally made something interesting after a couple of days of pork loin and baked salmon. Bacon wrapped chicken thighs stuffed with cream cheese. Quite tasty!

Steak…post-grill sprinkled with turmeric and garlic salt. I’ve been eating mostly eggs this week so this was a welcome change

Does anyone know the approximate macros for Indian Restaurant Chicken Tikka (dry)?

(bulkbiker) #448

I’d use something like this

#449

I don’t have a Waitrose where I live and I’ve tried the tikka chicken on offer in the local supermarkets (Tesco is the only UK one) and they are ok but I would like to know the macros for Indian Restaurant Chicken Tikka for eating out and takeaways?

(bulkbiker) #450

That’s what I meant… use the nutrition info for the macros… It’s usually chicken breast marinated in yoghurt and spices… usual portion size for a main is between 250 and 300g (yes I weigh all my take aways… ).

#451

Thanks Mark - I hadn’t thought of doing that!

(Allie) #452

Ground beef, mixed with melted cheese, and sour cream.

#453

Try Walmart’s Cheddar Jalapeno Dip. It’s mostly sour cream.

(Allie) #454

But not available in the UK… :slightly_frowning_face:
Strangely I did think about adding a few jalapeños to this but forgot to actually do it :joy:

Mid-day meal before heading to the garden to plant more stuff… Bacon, Eggs, Sausage and Steak.

There’s no way to know what they are putting into it. Chicken tikka usually includes ground cashews and or almonds. Potentially high in carbs. And using vegetable oils to save money. Also I watched a series on Netflix recently about food allergies and peanuts were one of the episodes. Apparently some budget Indian restaurants were using ground peanuts to save money in England and not disclosing it to customers. A couple of young women almost died. So you’re always rolling the dice at restaurants.

I avoid complex dishes in restaurants for this reason. Better to go with something that you know is good on keto, grilled meats and simpler fare. :cowboy_hat_face:

Eggs with artichoke hearts and turmeric, side of bacon and Starbucks mocha coffee (made from ground coffee at home with HWC).

Thanks David, you’re right. The Tikka from my local Indian is gorgeous and there must be some of the ingredients you mention added!
