Morning - hope your mum’s okay - and happy birthday to the little ‘un!
What Did You Keto Today? The Trilogy!
I swear I don’t deliberately make faces with my food. Wonder what a psychotherapist would make of this?
Brunch with my mom and my daughter before I take them to the airport (for my mom to steal her for 2 weeks )
Prime rib, grilled veg, green beans, crab dip, sausage, steamed shrimp, and a full belly
@runswithdogs I really want to come see you for a fungus identifying/collecting expedition!
Lol, the only one im sure of is the chanterelles. Lots of other mushrooms around but aside from some horse mushrooms I found last year, im not good enough to risk any of the others ive found. Have a ‘shroom book but that dosent make it as easy as youd think
@runswithdogs No boletes, morrels or black trumpets or porcini in Scotland? Chanterelles are pretty unmistakable and safe to gather, nothing really looks the same. They are delicious and meaty. Have you tried spore prints to help indenting the questionable shrooms? There’s a mushroom society where I live and experienced gatherers to learn from.
There probably are but non that ive run across have been ones I was able to i.d. as safe. Would
know morels if I saw them(pretty distinctive) but ive never run across any yet.
Seen some really pretty red ones with pokadots… dont think ill be trying those…lol
@runswithdogs Those are amanita muscaria or commonly known As Fly Agaric. They are psychoactive and poisonous too. They were used by shamans in Siberia for visions and have a toxin that is filtered by the kidneys. The pure drug is excreted in urine and I will leave it to your imagination as to where that led, reusing the excreted drug. This is the mushroom in “Alice in Wonderland” . Don’t eat it!
I’m going to have to break down and actually TRY an anchovy to see if I like them. I’ve been chicken up to now (tender age of 64!).
Do you also like sardines? If so, how do anchovies compare to sardines?
I tried my dad’s beloved kippers as a child and hated them. I haven’t worked up to trying sardines, but love the flavor of anchovies. I’ve just always used them after mashing them into an unidentifiable paste that dissolves into some dressing or sauce. I’m trying to work up to trying some mild sardines and wonder if anchovies might be a stepping stone?
I seriously doubt that! Anchovies are fishier and way saltier than sardines and generally eating in small bites because of their intense flavor and salt content. They do blend into a dressing like Caesar dressing or pasta sauces like Putanesca.
Louisiana Hot Links and Scrambled Eggs with Salsa Verde
Toped with lots of salty Cotija Cheese
Happy Sunday Keto Peeps!
Lol, yeah, I know . Plenty that Ive identified as non edible … its finding the ones that are safe that is a bit more tricky
Well, a first for me, where I didn’t take a photo of an earlier meal. - We met up with an old friend of the family out at IHOP, since she apparently loves going there. Had a double Burger with Cheese and a Salad. (Which was basically just a bowl of lettuce with a slice of tomato and 2 Red Onion pieces, but I don’t feel the meal was even worth a photo to be honest, and I still felt that way afterwards. We only met there, since she’s in her 80’s and doesn’t get around all that well, but enjoys getting out to meet up with us. (I actually wanted and offered to take her to Texas Road House, but she didn’t want to drive any further than she had to. )
Went to mum’s! Our day didn’t go as planned! Ended up in the Harvester at 4pm!
I had a burger patty and a cajun chicken breast with some salad. Their website says the blue cheese dressing has 0 carbs! Do I believe them? I did today
