What did you Keto today? Part Deux!

#6447

Beef & Pork meatballs with carbonara (konjac noodles)
Duck egg yolks makes awsome sauce!

('Jackie P') #6448

Scrambled eggs is a good excuse for an extra knob of butter and a splash of cream!

(Ashley) #6449

Did they remove the hard cast?

('Jackie P') #6450

I havent plucked up the courage to try konjac noodles yet! Do you recommend?
Looks fab!

(Steaks b4 cakes! šŸ„©šŸ„‚) #6451

You are so right there! :+1::+1:

(Khara) #6452

This looks really good. I’m going to have to look up a recipe for carbonara and branch out a bit.

#6453

I wouldent use them on a regular basis but There ok, good substitute if your really craving ā€œnoodlesā€ and your still waiting for Carls noodle recipe :stuck_out_tongue:
Theres not much taste to them but then the idea is to use as a vehicle for copious amounts of cream/parmesan/duck egg yolk sauce . (Or whatever sauce you prefer)

('Jackie P') #6454

I think i read that they smelt of fish? I really must just give em a go!

#6455

Ingredients are
Pancetta (Or Bacon)
garlic
Egg yolks (preferably duck)
Heavy cream
Pecorino Romano Cheese (or you can use Parmesan)
Salt
Pepper
Parsley

So easily keto freindly (unless you use normal spaghetti)

(Khara) #6456

I read that it’s a good idea to wash them really well prior to cooking, but I’ve never tried them…

#6457

Havent noticed any fishy smell with the ones I got here. Brand is BareNakedNoodles (im in Scotland)

They do have some soya flour in them but im guessing its a very small amount and I havent had a reaction (I do Not react well to soy in any quantity over trace amounts) but another reason Id only use ocasionally. DH uses when he goes moterbike camping as they dont need fridgerated so he can cook up a decent meal & still stay keto. (Mostly)

(Khara) #6458

I go through phases. Still on omelettes. This time with leftover mashed cauliflower.

(I came for the weight loss and stayed for my sanity... ) #6459

My OMAD after a 36h fast.
Pulled pork bathed in ghee until crisp, two eggs and some avocado oil mayo
they finally sell it here in Switzerland :star_struck:

The broth was tasting a little off so I had to toss it :expressionless:

Okay I give up. After 4 attempts it still doesn’t want to upload the picture…

(Khara) #6460

Try having a space (entire line) before and after your pic.

Meat noodles are not Carl’s original idea. There’s a bunch of recipes if you google it.
I’ve been meaning to get around to it but I haven’t yet. You can use shrimp, chicken, fish, or pretty much any lean meat to make them. This is just a preliminary search.

Some involve using an amino acid called
transglutaminase and phosphate salts. It’s part of the molecular gastronomy movement in modern cuisine. Some recipes are simpler than others. :man_cook:t3:

(Allie) #6462

Definitely wasn’t raised with them, my early diet was mostly carbs with very little meat. I first bought heart (lamb) for my dog years ago, pre keto, and we ended up sharing it as when I’d cooked it for him it just smelt really good… :joy: Liver is something else, that I have to cut up small and hide in with other things…

(I came for the weight loss and stayed for my sanity... ) #6463

Still not working

Thanks for the tip though.
It goes to 100% stays there for a while and then shows a message ā€˜try again’ I’ll try to restart my phone…

I actually think the cheese got very thinned out when the wife re-heated it. Had Cheese on it already, so it heated up even more, and got a little translucent and the darker meat is seen through it. … I think this is what caused it? But if I wake up on a gurney, my only words might be… Green Cheese.

Unfortunately, no. - We spoke about it, and were going to, but then he was more concerned with her history of having the surgery fail the first time, so we went with another hard cast but not as heavy. Has a support piece in it, with the rest soft, so at least it’s softer and lighter. (And it appears to be helping already) … But she has two weeks before going to the soft cast, which will be for the final two weeks. … So we should be all done in the first week of May, and then just have to keep an eye on her for a few months, limiting her activities and making sure she doesn’t do anything stupid. Thanks. :+1:

Could be just a time-out issue, due to slow connection? If so, you might just have to try again when you have a better connection. I’ve had the issue a couple times, when our provider was having issues and we were getting slower than normal connection speeds during it.

Wow, you all - some dynamite pictures this past day. :sunglasses::star2::stars::sunny:
