What did you Keto today? Part Deux!

Yeah, well Dungeness are my favorite BTW. I actually order those by the case. Actually ordering two more cases tomorrow. Fella who has a Seafood shop just south of me, only charges me $25 over cost. So I save about 1/2 the cost from paying for them by the pound. That and Snow Crab.) Wife prefers those.

I still enjoy Blue Crab though, but this is probably the first we’ve had in maybe 1-1/2 yrs? … The place that orders Cheesecakes from me is a Seafood Shop too, but we usually get mostly Shrimp, Oysters, Fish, etc. from them. But she will also order me some things she doesn’t carry, such as thick cut Haddock.

Actually, there’s quite a few plates previously that show both Dungeness and Snow. And I’ve found that when I make Deviled Crab, I now use Dungeness for this too. … I just find the Snow to salty, though it’s good for us.

Ever since we went on an Alaskan cruise several years ago Dungeness is my all-time favorite crab! First time I’d ever eaten them and it was all-you-can-eat after the boat ride to pull crab pots. It was an excursion at one of the ports. I ate a LOT!!!

Hard to find where I live.

New phone so hoping picture uploads ok!

EDIT: Yay - it worked :relieved: Twas a lovely bit of salad, steamed asparagus & broccolini finished in the pan & my weird looking bit of beef oyster blade. Somewhat resembled Australia in shape but also in character - gristly but tender!

Well, I do live in the State the Chesapeake Blue Crab is famous for. But I’ve always preferred Dungeness Crab though. … We used to have some Seafood Restaurants around here called Chesapeake Bay SeaFood, and they had both Snow Crab and Dungeness included in the All-You-Can-Eat. But the last one closed some years back. They’re still around, but I have to visit Virginia to go to one. But I get so much from around me already, it’s not really worth the trip. Figure if I have to go out there for something else, I might stop in?

After eating some crabs, the fish was done. The Cod Filets were pretty good, but the Catfish Nuggets were not all that great. The pups liked them though. Also had some Pickles, Olives and some of the Cauliflower-Potato Salad. (Potatoes replaced of course, but not sure what to call it? Cauli-Egg Salad? Guess that will work…

I thought it was a complaint about not using blue cheese

We have Dungeness in our coastal waters here in Oregon. I’ve raised my kids knowing how to catch their own.

Daily limit is 12 keeper sized male crabs per person. The most we’ve had on hand at one time for my family is 96 crab. :flushed::grinning:
Trading chicken carcasses for dungies…

What a gorgeous dinner. And look at those fresh vegetables from your garden?

(Karen) #431

YUMMY!!! Lucky you

#432

Thanks Karen  I wish the veg were ours but the garden is a bit bare coming off of winter. We’re too warm/tropical to grow many of the usual winter veg so do better in spring/summer - if the possums & bandicoots don’t eat it first!

96!!!

OMG

Had fried pork belly, and a super spicy hot pot at home that we made with a crazy hot broth from my wife’s hometown in Sichuan, China. If you’ve ever eaten lava, it was like that. There’s a mix of fatty beef, mushrooms and veggies in there since this was shared with my wife (who isn’t keto). I devoured most of the beef and mushrooms and some of the yummy cauliflower, as well as a few scallions picked from our garden (not many though).

I admire your ability to get a shot of this.

I had to use the slow motion feature on my phone, this was the only frame that seemed to capture it. The remaining second-and-a-bit was the meat disappearing into my mouth.

(Hyperbole- best thing in the universe!) #439

Even when I was a civilized pescatarian, I’d tear into one of those like a savage. Never had a Blue, but a Dungeness or a King pulled right out of the ocean and boiled in seawater on the beach? Yeah baby.

#440

I can see that.

Good to know. :+1:

That pork belly looks divine!
