What did you Keto today? Part Deux!

#4263

Dinner

Cooked for myself while the in-laws and my wife/daughter ate my mother-in-law’s Chinese cooking (some old favourites of mine but rather unketo now).

Didn’t have any ribeyes, not sure what cut this was but I pulled it out of the freezer this morning. Ended up nice and juicy, anyway. Also cooked up two weißwurst which were spectacular, I could have eaten about 74 of them. Most things were caked in butter, especially the broccoli, and I added some bacon and mustard.

Way to stand firm, Gaff! I’m proud of you. :+1:

#4265

Something else to add to my list  So many things uneaten all those years as a vegetarian!

Do it right now! I really liked them. I used to love sausages back home in the UK because there were so many varieties, and hey, who didn’t like a fry up? I found sausages here in the US (at least the PNW) quite bland and then when I went keto, I was disappointed to see most of them were carb-loaded as well.

A few months back I discovered some marketed as “gluten free” which essentially had no carbs, then a few weeks ago I came across another brand which sells German (or at least German-style) sausages. I haven’t looked back since. I wish German-oriented grocery stores were a major thing here, the same way I can easily find Chinese, Vietnamese and Japanese supermarkets within a ten mile range.

I will

That would be awesome! We do have local butcher who has won many awards for his sausages & the deli at out supermarket is surprisingly good for a small coastal town.

Will go hunting tomorrow

Nice!
Thanks

For your bowl, what was the cost?

(Ashley) #4269

Total bowl cost was $8.50, but prices may vary where your located! My subway is quite locally small so I tend to get discounts. But it was also my only meal today!

I ate just a little bit of the pork chop before the photo, had to give it a go. I decided to try the method of cooking pork chops that was on the podcast recently. Cold pork chop, cold pan, delicious. I haven’t cooked a pork chop in over 20 years. This one was amazing, along with some sour kraut and a mushroom, green pepper, shallot and cheese frittata. Of course some butter on top of everything.

@juice This forks for you😉

:joy:

Keto police feel free to look away… yes mixed veg including carrots, peas and sweetcorn with my ribeye. I just hiked in the woods with Chunk for almost four miles and am well adapted so am not going to suffer from this :joy:

#4276

Some sufferings can actually be quite pleasant. … Damn that Steak looks good! I’ll be having one tonight myself. … But also planning on a mid-day meal today as well, so meats will be cooking soon.

(Allie) #4277

The steak was actually dry fried which I never do, normally everything is cooked in ghee, but it worked well.

#4278

I’m guessing this means just fried on a ‘dry’ pan? If so, I’ve done that too, but I have a tendency to love smothering it in butter and sometimes the pan’s a bit hot, causing the butter to start burning some. … But since I started using the Sous Vide mostly now, I take it out of the bath and sear it on the grill outside, over open flames. Then assault it with butter once flame kissed. Been working well so far.

I love it fried in bacon grease.

#4280

Ya know, I don’t think I’ve ever tried that sadly? … But I will now.

This is a sirloin tip done in my instant pot. I ate it all week and now it is stew!Instant%20Pot%20roast%20beef

(Allie) #4282

I’ve yet to find any bacon here in the UK that leaves a decent amount of grease.
