Twelve Days of Carnivore!

This is such a good point about cooking in butter. Cook the food. Pour the liquid on top of the food. Then wipe down the pan with paper towel. I don’t wash my decades old iron fry pan in detergent.

Same with the coffee pot. I was told by an old Italian to just rinse out the stove top espresso pot with hot water and the oils from the coffee protect the metal from the acidic compounds.

Maybe me and the old Italian guy just don’t like doing the dishes.

Love it and home to cook all that wonderful zc meat! wow fab pics!!

and that’s the way a zc pro does it!! You eat very well and gain back that great control and feed the body and it will treat us well. Wonderful pic of your plate!

great report on how well you are doing and ‘where’s the beef?’ we can find it all at Septimus’ house
Impressive shopping list!

yes. I hit the same on my diet pepsi…to me it tastes like fake chemical sludge of something that truly isn’t meant to be consumed, but it is wild cause I drank so much of that stuff and yes your tastebuds become ‘real’ again when off chemical processed stuff and we start to really ‘taste’ good food vs. horrible stuff. I so get ya and happy you are doing so well!!

yes I can relate. I gave up my diet pepsi and when I tasted it again later on it was so fake chemical tasting, I just couldn’t drink it anymore…like you, I just didn’t want it anymore.

you know it hit that way on my unsweet cold tea I would order out when with the family. One day I ordered it and took a sip and it tasted weird and my mouth went kinda numby feeling and I thought, this crap is gonna nail me to the wall…day I dropped all tea from my life. Same thing, nope, don’t want that junk anymore LOL

-----this is some darn good reading on this thread! I am thoroughly enjoying everyone’s posts!

I have never attempted to cook a steak in butter so now it is on my to do list! Also, you read my mind Fangs on the January challenge. I am going to do a 30 day all beef and salt challenge. Just have to wean myself off the magical little beans that make me feel so wonderful in the morning haha. For November I have mostly eaten steak, hamburger, chicken, sardines, shrimp, eggs, bacon with the occasional cheese, nuts, some small amounts of onions and tomatoes. I don’t think I have issues with those few non-carnivore items but would like to see how my body reacts to removing them. I’ve also been trying to wean myself off of all the “supplements.” I’ve reached my lowest set point in weight on this particular journey (I had gained 30 pounds during lock down after the death of a family member.) I just couldn’t reach this weight on keto and going carnivore sprinkled with a little fasting (only because I’m not hungry after eating a pound of steak) has helped me tremendously with weight and sleep. I naturally drifted into carnivore without even realizing it. I don’t even crave veggies to be honest. I can’t name one that makes me say “I can’t live without that.”

(Kirk Wolak) #128

The “morning workout”, even if you start with just a 5 minute Heart Rate Raising movement.
FWIW, try doing 2 minutes straight of weightless squats.

But getting it done BEFORE your day gets out of control is one of the BEST Life Hacks, EVER!
Good on you!

Robin,
I refer to the Covid-19 like the Freshman 15… It’s the 19lbs that I put on due to the lockdown.
I still ate carnivore/keto… But just too much, too often, and poor sleep.

Good luck to you! it has affected everyone in some way!

(Kirk Wolak) #130

Yesterday I had

  • Sizzle Steak
  • 2 slices of beef liver
  • 2lbs of “Meat Cookies”

Today I started out with

  • 1 lb of Cold “Meat Cookies” (100% Hamburger patties)

Getting a move on now…

Oh, frog legs are delicious! At least the ones I ate once.

I feel nice after my meals now  Carnivore is exceptionally good at this, I eat and I am not very full but perfectly satiated and my mood raises

I had a little leftover pork, turkey drumstick (I think it got dry spending so much time in the oven - I still didn’t fully figure out how to roast things but they usually end up great and they are always pretty much edible - and Alvaro deserves better so I ate it. I don’t mind but yep, I will be careful next time) and chicken liver! It turned out so very soft and juicy and pink and not lean/dry so I ate it with very little fat this time! Probably the lowered temperature was the “culprit” as I left it for 80 minutes in the oven  Me, liver and time, it never will change.
And it was wonderful without onions! (I used 1g spice mix and it has some onion powder but it’s so little! last time I used more spice and still wasn’t this good.)

Alvaro comes home tomorrow, I will buy eggs, 40 fits my backpack just easily… My first proper day happened eating wise (carnivore with a small eating window. I hate the long ones with those super tiny meals) after no idea how many days, I had something like this at Oti too at some point…
So I am enthusiastic now

I can’t name a single food item. But it would be problematic without meat at this point  Extreme low-carb is best for me, after all.
And I would be a bit sad without eggs and dairy  But I would survive.
I anti-crave most veggies. No way I eat them. But some of them are still nice. And I typically stop after 2 bites… Still surreal. Until a year ago I was a HUGE veggie lover, I ate them galore. Well not on keto as my 40g net carbs limit didn’t allow much vegetables but I was off keto a lot… It’s amazing how much people change. And I skipped some items and others followed. Almost magic!
Your mentioned veggies are extremely good with meat and eggs, I use them occasionally especially the onions. I can’t make stew without them… Tomato is nice and I used it in zillion dishes (like egg stew) but it’s very easy to skip it without a problem. In November I simply didn’t eat stew or liver with onions either so I could avoid them too but I would miss them eventually, stews are my big favs!
I probably lower the amounts though, onions are very, very sweet and I dislike sweetness with my meat. Tomatoes are often very sweet too.

By the way, I really won’t try milk in coffee again. I never liked that lately, it was almost a necessity last time but it’s still new that I realized that even a tiny milk is way too sweet for my coffee. Sweet coffee, ew. :upside_down_face:

But I still love my desserts, my new creation is mascarpone with a tiny bit of instant coffee and vanilla or rum. It’s just perfectly sweet and pretty complicated being my dessert (as my other fav is sour cream, period. I used to have a few lemon juice drops and vanilla in the past but why needlessly overcomplicate things).
My dessert came handy when I just couldn’t eat more roasted meat tomorrow. It’s time to focus on stew but my pork refuses to run out… But it will be over tomorrow for sure.

I’m happy for you :+1:

Dinner today was:

Leftovers.
After that some sardines, anchovies and cheese for dessert.

Wonderful!!!

I felt like a bottomless pit while eating this meal! After I ate all this: tbone, bone marrow, eggs, broth, manchego cheese, and liver pâté, I ate a bunch of beef jerky and butter. But otherwise feeling great!

So I said I was ‘out’ for this month after doing 37 days in late Oct/Nov, liking zc but not wanting to be too restricted with my eating long term. 7 days into December it appears I am still in without meaning to.

I have eaten perhaps one avocado total in the last week, but no other plants, haven’t wanted to.

I did have the BEST PMS ever at the start of Dec, as in I had none. At all.
I was actually surprised when my period arrived as I had no 10 day lead in of horror (for me and those who I live with!) at all. I had perhaps 1.5 days of possibly tender breasts, I kept poking them to check and was not convinced they were actually sore, other than from my incessant prodding. Normally I am in agony for more than a week and can’t sleep on my side etc as they are so tender.
ZC at work? Surely has to have been. Nothing else was different other than me not doing very much cardio at all, I just walked and lifted weights and pretty gently (lazily!) at that.

(Vic) #137

You’re healing Jules. It took about 6 to 8 months to heal for me. Loosing weight, hypertension, high heartrate and 10 other anoing symptoms dissapeared.
Some symptoms I didn’t even know they were a thing, guests they came with age, like joint pain. I was wrong, I was metabolicly ill.

So keep it up, stay 95% carnivore. Now and then a veg or fruit as a candy is ok. I also do low carb keto ones in a while, it doesn’t seem to matter.

Less obvious things can also happen after a while. I have become happier, mentally sharper, a better lover.

All I do for workouts is walking, no intensive cardio. Dispite that my heartrate is as low as 60bpm (it was 90 before).

There are downsides also. I’m more agressive, just as I was when I was 25y old. Gum problems slowed down but didn’t stop, still some loose teeth.

The knowledge that junkfood is hurting people so much is also a downside, ignorance was a bliss, but bad for my health. Lots of people I care about are eating themselves to a heart attack or cancer.
There is only so much you can say to them or you start to alienate yourself.

Anyway Im happy for you and all those who are healing.

(JJ) #138

Thank you for your lovely response Carnivoor. I think 95% of the time zc seems like a pretty reasonable way to be to me <3 I think it can be easy to fight against an all or nothing approach, so a still health-focused but slightly more relaxed attitude will be useful for me long term.

You have a great resting heart rate, particularly given where you came from at 90bpm.

(Vic) #139

From 23 december to beginning of Janary I will go very low carb Keto. I do this every year.
Its just easier at xmas party’s to eat meat and have some veggies on your plate. That doesn’t provoke discussions and lectures about how good vegtables are.
It may not be much this year thou, xmas party’s are illegal, even with close family.

#140

very happy to hear this for you guys…you got a big day today  getting him home and comfortable and he can heal up and get cracking on feeling better!! Home is the best place to recover for sure!

So agree with what Vic said to you. Healing comes in so many forms and we don’t just see then as glaringly as some other benefits ya know.
I am so glad you feel so much better this time. Alot changes with zero carb truly. Time on plan is key to just receive all these changes ya know but glad you are doing good

I get this for sure. I understand why someone would make those small changes. Everyone has to do their own survival plan thru holidays etc. as the must to suit themselves ya know. I am kinda polar opposite in my thinking tho when it comes to others and how I eat tho.

Now for me luckily I don’t put ANY part of my plan as needing changes around other people LOL Just me, I am all in this for me and wouldn’t eat anything I don’t want ever at all at any time any more in that I am me and I do me and screw everyone else at all times on what food I do eat HAHA Yea, I don’t think I am aggressive on that, a word I wouldn’t use for my direct personality but in the end, I hold plan cause it is truly what I must do as with some who need to handle it a tad different like you might do. Key to it all is to be comfortable where ya are on plan and doing what we must to get thru situations we must and different approaches on that one for different folks of course
