Tired of bacon already

#11

It takes a while for the body to adapt to the change. It’s a big change trying to switch from one fuel source to the next. Unless you end up being in a small minority this diet will have you feeling the best that you ever have.

#12

Thank you very Bob I do want to stick to it. I will search for the meals idea that is or the tips. How do I know what quantity I should eat?

(Natasha) #13

Don’t feel you have to keep eating endless bacon and eggs - you could substitute chicken wings, chicken thighs, ground beef/pork, steak, lamb, salmon, tinned fish… the list is long! Why not have a look at the ‘what did you keto today’ threads on this forum for loads of meal/food ideas. Good luck!

Also do I have to eat all this fat it’s making me feel really sick. I have an average of fat for every day of 150g, 95g of protein, 32g of carb and 10g if finer. Is that Ok? Can I cut on the fat?

#15

Ok thanks Natasha I will do that. I admit I am totally overwhelmed right now.

(Jane) #16

No need to be overwhelmed. Keto is simple but anti-establishment when it comes to dietary guidelines LOL

(Jane) #17

Butter and cream cheese are your friends early on.

Also, watch YouTube for a wealth of information. You can search the grocery store that you go combined with the word keto and more than likely someone has recorded themselves shopping for keto appropriate foods in a similar named store. There is so much information out there now that there should be no excuse to fail…

Thank you so much for the tips I really do appreciate it.

Welcome to the forum, Coco =).

I would try to get a refund on that plan if you can? You can totally do Keto for free, and we are all here to help you accomplish that.

You could totally do Keto successfully without ever eating any bacon and/or eggs if you don’t want to. When I started Keto I didn’t like either so didn’t eat much of either. Now I actually like Bacon at times, and I can tolerate eggs sometimes, but not often.

I agree with all the great ideas you have been given above. Just keep your carbs at 20 grams or less (I use a free app called cronometer.com to monitor this, and I find it helps a lot to keep me on track).

You can eat any meats and fish you like for the proteins, you can totally avoid bacon and eggs if you don’t like them. The only key is to keep your carbs low right now and to eat enough, and keep your electrolytes ups so that you don’t get the awful feeling that many get when they first eliminate all the carbs and sugars.

I also tired of bacon quickly. I use it mostly in dishes now, instead of on it’s own.
Have you found the recipe section yet? There might be some things in there that you can make. https://www.ketogenicforums.com/c/food/recipes-recipes-recipes
Some of my favourite meals are:
Keto meat balls with veges
Chicken & coconut curry on cauliflower rice
Chicken, caulie & pesto cream bake
Beef Bolognese on veges
Roast lamb with roast veges
Steak with cream sauce & veges
Chicken Ceasar salad
Bowl salads with dark leafy greens and rare roast beef or other meats + blue cheese dressing.

SO MANY choices on this ‘diet’.

Thanks so much Susan. I will try to get a refund as I don’t think I will use this plan. It’s the same thing over and over.

You paid for a diet plan?

#24

Yes. I am trying to get my money back now. I hope I can. I saw really bad reviews on n this scam company

(Susan) #25

There is a lot of great resources here on the forum, the terrific section that Paulene told you about above and “What did you Keto today?” is very handy too, people post pics of what they have had at meals, and if you want any of the recipes, just ask and they will tell you. This forum is very helpful and friendly and we all want you to succeed. I hope that you can get a refund.

(John) #26

dont stress on a plan. There are tons of recipies on this forum that are not eggs and bacon. Over time you will know what you can eat without looking or asking. good luck on the jouney and kcko

As far as hot flashes go, search here in the Women’s category. Keto is a hormone regulating way of eating, so things should get better… but not right away. Sometimes things get a bit crazy for the first few months until your body finds it’s balance. But when it does it should be better than before. Some women near the beginning of menopause start menstruating again for a bit. And there have been oops keto babies :eyes: so depending where you are on your journey, be careful!

But don’t worry. Once you get the hang of things this will be like second nature. The guide @Janie posted is really good.

When I got started, I just downloaded a list of foods and their carb contents. I used it all the time at first to check. There are lots of low carb veggie options, types of fat (maybe you like cauliflower in butter sauce, or asparagus with cheese, or?) You don’t have to be a carnivore. For your hot flashes - mine were rooted in a lack of electrolytes. I bought a small bottle of concentrated electrolytes and add a few drops to a drink every day and no more hot flashes. It seems expensive for a small bottle, but it goes a long, long way, so it’s actually a lot cheaper than buying electrolyte drinks.

I had horrible hot flashes before keto and they went away completely in short order when I began following the diet. But after two years I began only eating meat as it was helping some autoimmune issues. However, initially when I did so the hot flashes began again. It was only when I controlled my protein and got more deeply in ketosis again that the hot flashes stopped again.

My point is, if you find that they continue then consider the quantity of protein you are having daily. Perhaps even measure your blood ketones. High ketones and low blood glucose equals zero hot flashes for me.

I just use chronometer.com to track my foods. Then I go to youtube and put in “keto curry” or "keto mac and cheese " or “keto caesar salad” etc. They even have keto cake! Oh and check out “chaffles”. Those keto waffles might be a great breakfast alternative for you.
What nobody explained to me is that after maybe 3 months or so, if you keep on keto - everything changes. When you get fat adapted, your whole hunger program gets reset. Suddenly the eggs and bacon I so craved every morning ( I LOVE bacon) went away. I slid into IF naturally. And that is the miracle about eating keto. Stick it out and start cooking the things you enjoy. Keep the carbs below 20g and the protein maybe 30% and the fats around 60% of whatever you eat. Wait for the magic to happen.
