Sorry, but this is conventional wisdom that is just plain wrong. This is part of the “never skip a meal” advice that has been shown to be insulin resistance provoking. I would say skipping breakfast is a wonderful way to lose weight, as long as the rest of your meals are not insulinogenic for you.
Three months in... guess what! No weight loss
With all due respect, that’s your opinion but not the science. Nor what necessarily works for everyone but more power to you if it works for you
Hi and welcome…
Interesting as I have skipped breakfast every day for the last 3 1/2 years and am down just over 120 pounds…how does that work…with your
It’s science! When you don’t eat something for a long time then your stomach automatically starts producing HCL and a fat layer starts developing. This is not exact description but you can read online on google if you want.
Everybody’s body works differently and reacts differently, so… For me this works just fine.
It’s rubbish but fine you do you…
a lot of people here use fasting as a tool for weight loss and blood sugar control so I’m afraid your “internet science” doesn’t cut it with me…
I believe in fasting. That’s absolutely correct! Fasting does loose weight. But a whole day ‘fasting’ and ‘skipping a meal’ is totally different.
Yes indeed one is called “intermittent fasting” the other “extended fasting” but saying
Hardly fits with a fasting regime… so now you are disagreeing with yourself…?
It’s not a competition but when your first post on the forum makes wild blanket statements it might not be the best way to introduce yourself… just a thought…
Realize that there may be other good things happening before the weight loss starts. I’ve been doing this for 3-4 months now. I’ve not lost a whole lot of weight. Maybe 5 pounds. But my waist is smaller, I’m sleeping better, moles are dropping off my body (really), I’m not hungry (when I am, I know I’ve overdone it with the carbs), and I just feel better.
Hang in there.
+1 on minimal weight loss (5 pounds in 4 mos?)but satisfying physical changes nonetheless. Am waiting to wake up one morning and find I have “forgotten to eat for 2 days” but suspect that may be a little much to ask for and probably will just have to bite the bullet and execute a 36 hour fast on sheer will power. Someday soon.
Eat less, more clean and drop the dairy. Lean cuts of meat with dark green veggies and lots of butter is a perfect meal, incorporate 24 to 48 hrs of fasting also.
I agree with less dairy and that you should also consider reducing or losing the artificial sweeteners. I find it odd that you are still hungry after months of keto and eating 2k cals per day. It could be that the swerve and stevia is telling your brain it’s getting real sugar and that might be fueling your hunger.
My personal feeling is to avoid mimicking behavior that got me in trouble in the first place. That means limit anything posing as sugar or anything that I might eat compulsively when I’m not actually hungry.
Consider redoing your math on your macros. I think your calculations are off by a substantial margin.
Your dairy intake is also unusually high. Dairy is the most anabolic non-insulinogenic food and can cause inflammation that keeps glucose elevated keeping you out of deep ketosis. This is individual so every person reacts differently but this may be your experience.
Also, time is as important as macros. Reduce the window of time you eat in a day. Skip breakfast, eat dinner earlier, eat lunch later…
That way ur in control of the quality of the fats in the meal, seeing she dont really eat veggies that much (ur own and dietary fats u burn release toxins that are stored in the fat cells), its a good tiny improvement if u want to go step further.
Meat fat is some of the best fat we can eat. Has more micronutrients than veggies.
Theres nothing wrong with them, im not saying its bad, i love rib eyes and have them myself too. The way i see it is when a person is losing massive ammounts of body fat and eating loads of fatty meats with pretty much no veggies at all, it would help to combat the toxins and the load on liver by controlling the quality of the dietary fats as u cant control ur own. Its definetly not gonna turn the world around and the effect is very minimal.
Also cause im lazy, one of the reasons i tend to like leaner cuts is cause they are easier to eat, aint gotta worry about stuff u cant eat
Hi Adriana,
I’m still newer to keto but was having trouble losing weight after I lost my initial 9 lbs. I didn’t lose a single oz. for a month. I followed the suggestions from people here in the forum. I cut out all the cream cheese I had been eating and almost all HWC. I had also been using xylitol and Erythritol to sweeten things and these sweeteners were causing carb cravings for me so I really limit them now. I was also eating a small amount of berries with HWC with my dinner each evening and I cut that as well. I was eating my biggest and heaviest meal in the evening- I now make my dinner as early as possible ( usually more like a late lunch ). This creates a longer gap between eating dinner and breakfast ( if I am hungry and eat breakfast). All of these changes together caused me to lose 2 lbs. the very next week and over a lb. so far the following week (this week). I am very close to my goal weight (within 3 lbs) so I have to be a little more strict. I notice you are tall and also close to your goal weight so you may need to cut some things (dairy) and maybe rearrange eating times a little?
Try some small changes and see what works for you. It will happen!
