The March of the Carnivores!

#81

It is all about US personally on our timeline on how we flip it. We zc’ers will never be the same ya know and YOU found what it takes for YOU right now…I love that. Just weave thru and work with you as you need and darn if the best results don’t come our way, they will  FAB post Carnivore Queen!

#82

it is ok. you are fine. adaption can be a very serious big B for alot of us and others sail thru easily…so this is all about you
if you need over the counter meds to help there is not a thing wrong with doing just that. As we start full on carnivore our bodies change so much but with the great to come to you on the other side of adaption could mean you walk thru the ugly

You are ok. Truly. Absolutely normal.

Key now is eat as you ‘feel you must eat’-----like if you want just a skinless boneless chicken breast then eat it. You want fattier chicken thighs then do it. IF YOUR guts are saying go this way then do it.

if you need a can of tuna with some even regular old mayo in it, the fine.

if you want some salmon with no butter to cook and less fat then fine.

if you are longing for fatty old ribs then eat them.

Now you are walking thru what does it take for YOU and it is cool cause we all did this.

early on is tough as the body says OMG I want and will heal BUT I might whack ya hard while getting to that point :100:

all of this is normal and fine and you will find the narrow path thru this adaption to make it work…we all had variables on it, and you will be OK truly!!

(Linda ) #83

Your not alone with the bowels but I gotta say I’d far sooner have it like turning on a tap than constipation…I just know I gotta go now no trying to delay getting there lol…

I hope the nausea goes away for you I haven’t had that

#84

hey anyone newer and turn off the tap, first off eat a bit learner meat/seafood obviously and don’t add butter etc for cooking prep…and if you need an Immodium type OTC then take it.

don’t suffer too much ya know.

Adaption time can be super rough for alot of people…heavens sake just think to take a OTC for the big D if ya need, then yea do it LOL

then think, I ate XYZ and paired it with ABC and got ICK for it :frowning: then think as we get thru adaption and our toxins are dumping…darn it is something I have to ‘just get thru’ and it is what is for each of us.

It is normal and ok but never suffer ya know…think if I change and take whatever OTC I might need to make life ok thru this change, heck yes do it

and nausea is experienced by SO MANY zc people when flipping over, time will correct that big time on plan. Like darn near all of us have had it :sunny: so hold strong. Think what do I want and can handle to eat and we get thru this phase easily, just eat as you need TO get thru this phase and you WILL!

So, the probiotic I bought was the refrigerated, raw, live stuff. 90 billion count. Took 2 after work, and two right before bed. Slept like a baby, for the most part. This morning, I could feel things moving in my gut, not in a bad way. Felt far better than the rock that’s been there for weeks now.
Going to try a little ACV after I eat some carnivore meatloaf.

So far, today has been productive. Took daughter #2 to school. Bought a couple Americano’s with HWC, (and a couple GF treats) and ran breakfast over to daughter #1 at work. Had a good chat with her. She found another car insurance plan to save her some $$. Did some discount shopping for home supplies at my work.

The three youngest kids, plus a significant other, plus another pal, plus the in laws are coming for dinner in 5 short hours, so I am going to hustle, cook and clean now. Now that I’m feeling better, I’m actually excited to get to work!!! What a difference!

Oh yeah…down 6 pounds. =)

(Linda ) #86

Wow 6lbs that’s awesome congrsts… glad your feeling better.

(Karen) #87

A lay in today yay. Awake just after 7 and was looking at phone yil just after 8.

Got up and decided to do a really good workout with my stair runs. Did just under 50 minutes mixing snatches, russian twists pu’s and pull ups into the stair runs.

I knew I was getting my covid jab just after lunch and may get side affects that may interfere with my workout tomorrow!!! Heaven forbid! I will do those stairs even if it means crawling up them on my knees

Had chicken sauted in lard with cheese for brunch then went and had the jab. Thr place was so well organised and everyone so friendly and helpful. I was really impressed with the set up.

Had a sirloin steak with cheese on top and prawns on top of the cheese followed by ermmmm a bit more cheese!

Then later I had a mug of home made chicken stock and some pepperoni slices. Not something I buy very often and probably won’t buy anymore for a long time again, not that it wasn’t okay but not really my go to.

Put those 9 large chicken breasts I bought on monday into the slow oooker for the day. I’ll put some in the freezer in the morning.

#88

@Fangs @Azi thanks for the support! After drinking water with baking soda and taking a 2-hour nap I am good again! Also had a meal of ground turkey sauteed in butter, which settled my stomach nicely. Joints are feeling really good and clothes are gettng looser. Onward!

#89

you got it…just do self care on ya, take it easy and slow and just ‘feel your way thru it all’ and you will do ok, heck ya sound good! Happy ya feel better!!

and clothes that feel loose are never a bad thing

#90

This is me gonna eat the big Tbone and having a nice NY strip I scored at the store for a nice price markdown in my grubby little hands to enjoy later just makes me smile.

(Sama Hoole) #91

Brisket and egg yolks for dinner. Been having some variation of this for a year now.

A very nice and isolated part of Western Australia.

Day #5 on the March and I ate coffee beans.

Here is a logic conundrum. If you are a coffee addict, is there a logical difference between drinking and eating coffee? As I type I can already sense there is. As the roasted whole beans will have more carbs. Whereas the drink leaves the grounds behind. The experience was bad and not recommended. I even ended up with heartburn again. Yes, that heartburn I promised myself I would not inflict upon myself ever again.

It’s a 3 hour drive home to the woods from an 8 hour work day lecturing and tutoring (teaching) at a city university. I have a long black on the drive but she sits or sleeps in the passenger seat. She is Billie the Labrador. So, I also feel I need a coffee for the night drive home. Thus my experiment with munching on roasted coffee beans. Taste quite bitter and delicious like a pay cut traded for extra holidays. Lesson learned. Looks like I’m back to car karaoke singing Madonna for 3 hours to stay awake.

I have been eating life. Or, I should say my eating life, the March, has been on eggs, mackerel and steak. Some cheese, but I’m mindfully cutting it down.

I wanted to talk about baked beef ribs again. More than rib eye steak where there is more meat protein and less fat in relative proportions per serve. When I eat baked beef ribs I hit the very clear (don’t argue) satiety point. It’s abrupt. I stop. Usually it’s as clear as being between two fork loads. Whereas with a rib eye steak I can eat that. Hot juicy and delicious. 500 to 700g of beef. Eat it all up. No off switch except in a different food preparation situation. But when it’s hot and juicy from the cooker the whole thing gets eaten. I am amazed at the observed difference. After a rib eye steak I have a comfortable slow onset long lasting satiety compared to the abrupt stop of baked beef ribs.

When I have cooked a rib eye steak, cooled it and refrigerated it, then when I eat it I get that abrupt stop eating satiety signal.

(Linda ) #93

** Whereas with a rib eye steak I can eat that. Hot juicy and delicious. 500 to 700g of beef. Eat it all up. No off switch except in a different food preparation situation **

This is me and steak I don’t seem to have an off switch and the bigger the steak I still eat it then go looking for bigger to buy…
This is why I did my bacon experiment and last night I ate 6 slices and I was done for the day because I’m not hungry…I not sure I want to start eating cold steak all the time because I love my hot steak but maybe pairing it up with a beef rib or something like bacon might be an option but thank you for confirming that it’s just not me and steak…

#94

super duper congrats! :partying_face::partying_face:

here’s to hoping you don’t have to do that  love your dedication!! You’re a beast! :100:

@GenesisOfSama, that is a sweet looking picture! brisket, oh yum and your yolks look so round and perfect in the pic :sunglasses:

yes. so many of us know how each cut of meat effects us. it takes a while for it all to ‘balance out for us in our own way’ but real fast one figures out what meats are the best for us and most satisfying and longest lasting and what meats leave us hanging wanting alot more.

and it will shift on us thru the years. what was so satisfying must not cut it anymore and then we switch it up.

you are really finding what works for you! love that!

like my chicken breast I fry up. eating it hot I have to eat a ton more, when I eat it cold I eat less and fill up faster. No idea why on that LOL but it is what it is for me on that one and I just learned it about me. So you learn you is the best way forward in any eating plan.

OK-----eating coffee beans. WTH? wow, you are the bomb on that one HA :partying_face::scream_cat:
you are wild and wooly chomping on those! gotta saw ewww

sorry that drive is a nightmare. I am sure it is boring as heck, tired after working and all. I am not a great long driver either til I get irked about having a long drive ahead of me LOL And I am a RV person, all our trips are driving with the camper  Sorry you are stuck with that routine right now.

----------------good carnivore morning
I ate the big Tbone…so good, I gnawed that bone til there was darn near no bone left

I just could not eat that next steak I had planned. So I ate a tin of sardines and a big hunk of pepperoni stick.

Warmer weather, more big sunshine, me moving more means my eating is switching to lighter now. You would think I would want more food moving more and my mood improved, but nope. winter blah bored gray cold days makes me want to hibernate eat, when the sun shines and I am warm, I eat less and move more and just in a better mood and food is not a focus and all that jazz.

today is eat that big old NY Strip steak. can’t wait.
second food I am thinking just some chicken. maybe pair with tuna and mayo…haven’t had that in a way and got just a regular old can of tuna on my mind and some regular old mayo. eh, we shall see, but once that first big steak of the day goes into me, the second meal is never a priority.

All good in my little zc world so far

@Carnivoor Do you mind me asking what is on that plate? And do you eat your egg yolks raw?

General question to the group: in terms of plant toxins, what is worse, coffee or black tea? I recently read tea is high in oxalates and coffee is low.

Still deciding what to eat this morning!

(Sama Hoole) #97

If you could argue that caffeine is a toxin, which I’d say it is, then coffee has to win that round.

It basically makes you its slave.

#98

yea, black tea is the highest in oxalates but any tea, depending on how long it is steeped can change its oxalate content ya know in that cup. but black tea is geared at the highest.

tannin in tea can lead to anemia in people drinking too much. tannin in tea is what gives it that bitter flavor, making your mouth feel overly dry and icky for some (like me) – sucking down all those crushed plant toxins LOL

coffee is not great. caffeine is not good for us. addictive. messes with our hormones, can give insomnia, nausea, anxiety worsens, races our hearts etc. and just google what caffeine does and we know it ain’t great for us LOL but many love their coffee, seem to do well on it and keep it in their menu.

So tea and coffee truly are a very personal choice…if you do well with it or not.

I drank unsweet or hot tea for a while til one day my mouth went so icky and I realized that tea sucked. The bitter taste was not an option for me anymore, I dumped it high and dry. Been off it for years now and never looked back…I never drank coffee so I never had to deal with that circus monkey in my menu

(Polly) #99

I have just enjoyed a breakfast of two eggs fried in lard, two venison burgers and 3 herby pork chipolata sausages with a few pork scratchings and decaf with cream

Many of my meals are completely carnivore, but I still have some coffee, tea and red wine as well as herbs and spices.

For me the transition to carnivore is still imperfect, but I feel well at the moment which is important and I would rather be an imperfect carnivore in medium to long term than rush to do it perfectly in the short term and fall off the wagon. So I am taking my time, listening to my body and allowing some plant based seasonal garnishing of some meals.

I hope you are all still happy to have me along with the carnivore crew. I could go back to reading, liking and not posting much but I think it would help me to join in more here if folk are OK with that.

#100

oh heck yea, you join in and chat away! more the merrier, the bigger our pride becomes the stronger our pride can survive…a little lion humor there!

You are not imperfect at all. Don’t you think that for one moment. You are ‘relaxed carnivore’ which allows coffee/tea/some seasonings for taste, some eat regular old Hellmans type mayo still, it is a condiment/flavoring, it is NOT your meal so if you need a few small things like that, then yes you are super fine.

Know you are doing exceptionally well on relaxed carnivore!!! You are US ya know. I am relaxed. While I dumped tea and never drank coffee so that wasn’t an issue for me, I still use flavor/seasonings if wanted. I eat dry rubs on ribs. I eat rotiss chicken from the store with whatever the heck they do to it  I eat sausage and whatever ingredients are in that when I want, some alcohol is very personal to each of us and it is not wrong to have some if wanted…so Polly you are doing very fine!!!

imperfect my butt , you are relaxed carnivore and enjoying it and among many doing this plan! Love that!!

I am like you in that being part of a group, chatting this lifestyle and reasons why we love it and do it, seeing others thrive and change on it, help me ALOT. I am better part of this group then without it. I need others like me and root for them and that support we give, yea I am one who requires it and if you feel you need it, jump in and have fun in our little group!
