Thank you to all who have helped me!

So sorry - I am in the wasteland of the Inland Empire east of Los Angeles. Thai food makes up for the now 95 degree temperature.

Regina
I thought that poster was barking as well… don’t let it affect you. We get all sorts here. Just listen to who you feel like listening to.

(Empress of the Unexpected) #103

Love listening to @Alecmcq.

(Raj Seth) #104

No no. He is all upside down. :grinning: Listen to me.

(@Alecmcq is from Oz)

(Empress of the Unexpected) #105

I have like seven favorites - you are in the top five!

(Raj Seth) #106

Beat out 2 for sure. Yay me! :+1::+1:

(Empress of the Unexpected) #107

And all joking aside - I have only been on here for a month and I have figured out who the serious members are. Everyone else is “I haven’t lost weight” or (gulp, me) I’m not in Ketosis. And then there are the trolls…I appreciate the long term members.

I have read the “toothpaste” thread twice now and I feel there was never any intent by the person who posted about the toothpaste to be anything but sincere about what she found worked for her. Isn’t what this forum is all about? All of us sharing our anecdotal experiences to help others?

I would be very upset by the mockery that those posts have generated.

(Ron) #110

I tend to agree even though I think toothpaste is a little excessive (as referenced with my  post in said thread), I think the poster in question was just passing on personal experience strategies and although with a little “matter of fact attitude” , was sincere. After the initial folly I still asked for things that she respectfully responded to.
Not sure why all the flaming either.

(Leslie Gardner) #111

I can’t figure out how to quote the two posters above on my phone.

I gotta agree. I went to the toothpaste thread looking for a good old forum fight. People are waaaay too nice here online other corners of the web. I was in the mood for blood and drama. Nope. The toothpaste lady was without malice.

There are times when someone shares what’s worked for them, and I’m all, “LOL. No.”

I’m talking to you dairy haters and anti-aspartme crew. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

However, I file it away because there might be a time in my journey I would be willing to try it to break a stall. This place has been so helpful, but you do need to choose advice carefully.

I’m pretty new to this site but Regina, I am 63yr and only have about 3 lb to lose. I’m clearly not here for the wt loss but I am 34% fat (I think), my sugar craving was out the roof (ate a Boston cream pie in a couple hours and wanted more).
Plus I want the decrease in inflammation.
Oh, I’m 5 wks in.
My remaining craving is having a beer in the evening. That one doesn’t seem to want to go away.:weary:
My problems tho:
-I still struggle with fatigue, jeez, when does the energy kick in?

  • my front teeth hurt. Some days less and some days more.
I have a thread for “tweaking” but not many answers.
Still figuring out stuff; what sweeteners trigger cravings, how much almond butter is ok for me (Watching out for the Omega 6 intake).
    Those kind of things.
But this fatigue is quite annoying

(Empress of the Unexpected) #113

Hi Gail - welcome to the forum. In my case, got my energy back around week eight. But I was also recovering from bronchitis at the time, so that might have been a confounding factor. I also am close to my maintenance weight, but trying to lose some body fat.

(Gail ) #114

That’s me as well. Hey, have you heard anything about using a tablespoon or so each day of potato starch? The idea being to improve mag and calcium absorption and protect the gut lining.
I’m trying to heal leaky gut and am starting to have an issue w diverticulitis (damn I sound old).
But the fine tuning of this WOE fascinates me.

(Empress of the Unexpected) #115

I’ve heard about resistant starch but not in relation to calcium and mag absorption. I am going to read about it. You can read all about my tweaks on my accountability thread. I did lazy keto for ten weeks and concluded that I need to do some serious tweaking.

(Cancer Fighting Ketovore :)) #116

I just want to say that you are not alone in your weight category. I’m currently about 140 (but I’m also 24w pregnant). My normal weight is 125-130 or so. I’ve joined my husband in eating Keto, for health reasons. I’m definitely NOT trying to loose any weight.

#117

darn lucky baby

(Cancer Fighting Ketovore :)) #118

In fact, my husband thinks I could stand to gain a few pounds.

#119

while pregnant do not be to restrictive, I would say avoid sugar and grains everything else go for it, if you crave it or want it I bet its good

(Aimee Moisa) #120

Someone should have said, “The solution to sweeteners in the toothpaste is to just stop brushing your teeth.”
