Richard's club soda and apple cinder vinegar recipe (Carl Franklin Cocktail)

(Oded Shopen) #1

I remember I heard it in the podcast but I just can’t find it. It’s also not in the 2 Keto dudes recipe page.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? :).

It’s @carl drink. I’ll try to find it.

Should be pretty straightforward. 1-2 tbsp of ACV per 16oz of liquid, plus sweetener to taste.

I like to take a standard water bottle (16.9 oz) and add 2 tbsp of ACV, a pinch of salt, a packet of Truvia and 1-2 pumps of salted caramel sugar-free syrup. Caramel apple beverage. Should work just as well with club soda or selter (though watch when adding salt or Truvia or other crystalline sweetener, as those can cause an eruption with carbonated beverages).

No, this is a mocktail designed by @carl. I don’t remember the recipe, but definitely includes bitters.

Bitters or no, mine is pretty tasty.

I’ve been catching up on old podcasts and I think I heard this just last week. I think Matt is correct that it was Carl doing the talking, so it’s likely his drink and not Richard’s. If I find it in the near future I’ll post it here.

It was discussed here too

Thanks for finding this!!

(Jenny Talbert) #10

Didn’t he mention a specific type of bitters he liked to use?

(matt ) #11

I had a few at Ketofest. Really tasty.

@Dr_Jenny_Talbert I think it’s Hella Citrus Bitters. I couldn’t find it in podcast notes. I know Carl gave the brand during at least one podcast, but I can’t recall if it was pre or post Ketofest. They were delicious at Ketofest.

Where do you find this syrup, is it a Torani or DaVinci?

(G. Andrew Duthie) #14

Sorry, my mistake. It’s salted caramel syrup, not apple. That comes from the ACV.

I use Jordan’s Skinny Syrups, which I get at Bed, Bath, and Beyond.

#15

Has anyone made this drink with a LaCroix?

#16

Thanks for the tip! Just ordered online since my Bed, Bath, and Beyond doesn’t carry them.

(Jenny Talbert) #17

Thank you! I knew it had a cool name.

You can also make your own bitters, since some of them contain sugar. I make about 20 different kinds these day. Here’s one recipe I’ve used, leaving out the simple syrup:

Has anyone tried this with the Trader Joe’s flavored seltzers?

For years I’ve mixed flavored seltzer with apple cider vinegar, lemon juice +/- bitters. TJs seltzer is great.
