Good progress! @Monurse how is your throat?

For me today is day 3 of what I hoped would be 5 but I may end up being only 4, 24 hour fasts. I forgot I have a breakfast meeting on Friday morning. I’ll see how it goes…if I do end up having breakfast that morning, then I’ll do a 12/12 as the meeting is at 7:30 and I usually eat around 7:30 pm.

(MelissaH) #364

It’s slowly getting better @bej10 I’m fasting again today. To be honest this ADF isn’t all that great. I prefer longer fasts. You don’t feel the benefits. Or at least I haven’t yet. I will keep at it thru Friday.
Just have coffee at your meeting… tell them your throat is sore  I’m never hungry that early so I just go with that

(Beth) #365

Good to hear that you are getting better.

You mentioned that your husband was out of town the last time you fasted, is he traveling a lot? I agree that fasting for a few days straight gives more of a benefit, but skipping the evening meal with my hubby is difficult because it’s our ritual and the only time we spend together on weekdays. When we fasted the last time, he just stayed at the office and ate. Maybe next month we can try another 3-4 day fast? I can check the calendar for weeks when he may not be home until late.

Happy fasting!

Yes, he works late and travels for work… I think stress and kids interfers with my ability to fast for long periods. I keep trying though! Rituals are hard to break my friend… next month is fine for an EF. I’m in!

(Beth) #367

Awesome! I want to give my metabolism time to recover and stay high, goal of 24 is to just keep insulin low and eat plenty of delish food in the evening. I damaged my metabolism by being on a low fat diet, low calorie diet most of my adult life, ugh.

I hear you on the stress and kids! Having 3 so young is a definite challenge!

Re: rituals. For me some of them are part of my mental health, I think. Eating dinner with hubby and friends is a grounding thing, so the 24 hour thing is the best solution to keep my social life in order.

(Jane) #368

I travel and lot for my job and usually only home on the weekends (if that). My husband and I both fast but never when I am home. We enjoy the ritual of eating together too much, plus it’s easier to fast when I am working as long as I don’t have to entertain out of town employees at dinner.

(Allie) #369

Same here Dave, I don’t do well eating in the evening and most often don’t eat after 1pm.

(Beth) #370

Well said. The thing that makes this work so well is that it’s ok to eat. I’m fasting this week 24 each day. Tonight and tomorrow night we have social commitments. I’m looking forward to enjoying breaking my fast with friends and fellowship.

When I was low fat, high carb, I had more difficulty “staying on a diet” in social situations, which led to avoiding them. There’s some level of dysfunction FOR ME in avoiding the social situations to stay on a diet. That’s the freedom keto has brought!

(MelissaH) #371

My fasting muscles are being tested… the patient I’m working with asked me to make her a
a BLT sandwich
Wish me luck!!

(Beth) #372

You can do it! The only reason I’m replying to this is that I started getting hungry and having a food fantasy so I decided to take a quick look at the forum. We’ve got this!

(Jennifer) #373

62.75 hours in and starting to get very distracted by hunger. My goal is to make it to 96 hours. I’m gonna try some salt, and hope this passes.

#374

Wishing you the best to make your goal. You can do it!

#375

So I decided I am gonna start a short fast. We are having
a pasta potluck
at work today. I need to skip that carbfest. Not really sure how long I really want to go. I should probably set a goal or I will give in…guess I’ll decide that sometime today.

(Running from stupidity) #376

I’m a bit disappointed in the lack of specificity with this timing. It needs seconds.

“My goal for this fast was … 12 hours, 15 minutes and 32 seconds. Oh, there it is now!”

I like your goal-setting systerm

#377

I am all of 18 hours in. Not even the least bit hungry. Made it through lunch tempted but strong

LOL! My nerd was showing.

Nice to see/hear everyone fasting along nicely.

But now, not sure if I will keep my word true of not fasting for the rest of this month? :face_with_raised_eyebrow: … I so want to hop back on that bus, but would prefer to fast next week, since I’ve been eating this week. Will have to decide this weekend, depending on how things go.

(Daisy) #381

I’m so excited, I made it 24 hours today!!! I never dreamed this possible! Then I ate too much for dinner and don’t feel the best… but I felt amazing all day! I probably could have held out a little longer, but not much. Yet. Baby steps!

#382

So I am to hour 24. My tummy is grumbling but I feel great otherwise. I really want to give in but… I’m gonna go have some San Pellegrino. Shooting for 48 or maybe 60+
