November IF/EF chat, all welcome!

This sounds like a plan to me. But stress can get the better of you when EFing and it keeps building up. Sorry for your loss. Hope things don’t get too bad stress wise.

Sure did! One of my nieces does keto and we chatted up a bit. We both agree that keto is not an easy subject like religion and politics.

Niece is not overweight like the rest of the clan, but we have the dreaded predisposition to T2D.

Wishing you the best!

My the KETO force be with you!!!

Yes it’s a bit of a fraught topic! Glad you had someone to chat about it with, though. That is so lucky

(Liz ) #247

Oof, hugs for the stress

Fantastic report!! Sounds pretty dreamy actually

Tasty!! I’m a little jealous of your planned fast but I already did two 70-72 hr fasts in Nov & I want to wait til next month. Maybe I’ll Zornfast.

You my friend are an inspiration.

Too kind!! I’m still pretty much a newbie to fasts over 48 hours, I think I’ve done 4, but I’m desperate to get the benefits of lowering my basal insulin levels & autophagy. I don’t love the weird hollow feeling I get fasting, but it’s not like a gnawing hunger. Not sure if I can even lose weight anymore without fasting.

Anyway, cheering you on!!

Just checking in on my fast family! Happy Saturday!

As for me, still on a holiday with family, and grazing window is bigger. Will be 16 hours by the time I go downstairs for tea.

I don’t have a weigh-in scheduled until 12/01, my 60th day, but curious.

I’m doing great, I think. Am in hour 62, having my black coffee with cinnamon, salt, and cayenne, and feeling like I can keep going indefinitely. I will probably have to break sometime Tuesday because I will be expected to sit at supper with my mother.

Interesting blood values this morning: FBG = 49mg/dL and ketones = 6.2 mmol/L

I definitely want to get past 72 hours because that’s apparently this forum’s opinion on when autophagy begins. Various readings on the Internet (e.g., Dr. Mercola) and a podcast with Dr. Eric Berg suggest it begins much sooner. In fact, Dr. Berg thinks it’s going on during the 16 hours of a 16:8.

Most people here in the forums have said that they drop weight during the fast and then gain weight when going back to eating. I have heard Carl say many times that with his feast/fast his weight doesn’t change when going back to food. I want to be like that! How do I?

Happy fasting to y’all!

Doing great! What I’ve read & heard repeatedly is autophagy peaks at 72 hours, rather than begins.

Yes, Megan Ramos has mentioned this in a couple of podcasts. One video with Jason, not his series, he was a guest on one, I can’t even remember which one at the moment, but he states it can start happening with doing 12:12 fasts. It builds from there. So any IFing, extended fasts can get autophagy started for you.

We had our Thanksgiving dinner today, and I survived. It was extra work making keto dishes to substitute for our favorite traditional foods. But I felt very satisfied without gorging myself and eating all day long like I might have done in the past. I had a taste of my mother-in-laws yams, but other than that everything I had was pretty low carb (and delicious). Didn’t even spike my blood glucose. Even though I didn’t take my supplements this morning (including berberine) nor Symlin, my bg stayed in the 100s today. I am sure my insulin was being spiked, and that helped keep the number lower, but that also means I am becoming less insulin resistant because the insulin is doing something. Progress.

I am probably going to hold off on fasting til Monday. But I am looking forward to it. It is such a powerful, beneficial, and healthful way to be.

I made it to 70 hours of my EF that started right after Thanksgiving dinner. My mother in law (visiting from Florida) took us out for dinner today to celebrate my husband’s birthday, and there’s another eating thing after the funeral tomorrow. I couldn’t dodge both. I figured it was time to throw in the towel. I had a nice steak. I can always start another EF after she leaves on Tuesday.

Also, I’m telling myself that I have to re-feed sometime and life happens. I don’t know why, but I’m afraid to lose my momentum for these EF’s, as if I will suddenly become incapable of doing them. It’s just that I finally feel in control of my food and my body. Before, it was a huge frustrating mystery.

ps: I was able to dodge being forced to eat on Saturday night (visiting relatives with mother in law) by putting my hand on my tummy and saying no thanks, my stomach was ‘off’. Nobody questions that. Haha.

Hi all. I am 42 hours into what may be my most ambitious fast yet. I have no special events, no parties and about one month until Christmas so I decided that this is the perfect time to fast for an in deteminent period of time. My goal is to get below 200 pounds. Based on previous results from fasting, it looks like it could take anywhere between 7 days and 18 days. Hopefully only seven. I don’t think I have the strength to go a full 18 days. I did 14 and it was really tough. But I’m focused so I hope to do whatever it takes. I am sooooo close. I haven’t been below 200 pounds in about ten years.
Want to make sure I end the year below 200 so that I have a fresh start for 2018
I posted this in The a November zone fast thread but decided this may be a better place. I need all the support I can get. These first few days have been very tough and I want to eat all the food. But I know it will calm down by tomorrow or Tuesday

That is absolutely outstanding. I started again Saturday evening and I’m shooting for 96 hours this time. It will be my longest so far.
