Me too.
I have definitely not found this to be the case. Protein works way better on me no matter what.

I feel the same. But I figured I was just an outlier. Sounds like Iâm not alone.
Lots of graphs and charts and some words too
Warning! Correlation is not Causation
Warning! Sorta Anti Keto/Fat but if you look at the data its pro Keto/Fat
Weird how bias gets in the way of facts
I donât read Marty as being anti keto/anti fat at all - he seems more about optimising & personilising your diet depending on your desired outcomes. Love his work
I like Marty or I would not have posted his site and why I edited and added âsortaâ and he did put these on his site which is not what the data says.
" However, very high-fat intakes (that are only possible with large amounts of added fat) arenât satiating. "
Might have my own bias going on I suppose - I personally find protein the most satiating even though I donât have a lot of body fat. I eat about gram for gram fat/protein & feel amazing so I guess itâs the old âYMMVâ
We all have bias itâs what makes us unique but also why we need places like Ketogenicforms so were not living in an echo chamber
Youâre in good company. The last interview I heard of Ted Naimanâs, heâs not too far from where you are with gram for gram protein and fat.
I do suspect that the metabolic health and exercise levels a person finds themselves in do have a significant impact on how the fat to protein ratios work with their individual physiology. (A couch potato may be significantly different than an athlete, etc.)
I will say that Ted, along with Ben Bikman & Stuart Phillips, was a big influence in my deciding to relax about protein. Funny how I ended up intuitively eating at similar levels to Ted though I have heard from many sources that we tend to find the level that suits us. I expect my metabolic state has improved over the last 4 or 5 years & my activity is now geared more toward muscle building than it used to be so all pieces of the YMMV puzzle
I grew up too close to The Hill in Canberra so English is not really my first language
I can definitely relate to you. I too started Keto July 29th, so just over 3 months. Did great. I worked my way up to fasting 16 hours, then 18 hours, and now I can fast up to 20 hours. Or I was able to about a week ago. The past 10 days I have been SUPER hungry. Problem is, I donât have a ton of fat options. I had to cut out all milk products due to medical issues (RA). Been using coconut cream in my coffee (after my fast). I typically eat half an avocado, 2-3 slices of bacon, 6-8 ounces of fish, or beef, and two cups of salad greens or spinach with olive oil and ACV for dressing. My eating window is usually between 3:30pm and 8pm. By 10pm Iâm still looking for food. But I fill up on water. In the morning by 8am Iâm ravenous! Iâm a bit frustrated. Was hoping to have lost 25 pounds by now. The first 20 pounds seemed to come off so easily.
For myself, Iâm hungry if I eat sugar and/or carbs. I believe it is caused by hormones, things like insulin and ghrelin. So in experimenting, I tried the zero carb diet. This really helped me a lot with reducing hunger cravings. It also made it easy for me to fast. Right now, Iâm doing one meal a day. It is also a simple meal planâŚbeef/eggs, pork/eggs, fish/eggs, or spam/eggs. My sugar, carb, and hunger cravings are gone. Iâm back on track to get lean.
Through extensive yoyoing and doing aaalll types of diets I figured first batch of wt loss is mostly water wt loss and thatâs always easier to loose on any diet right?
The real work begins after the plateau is reached. So then upping the physical exercise part becomes more important than any diet.
I honestly believe that how you feel about yourself dictates hunger. If youâre happy and buzzing, and active, you eat less.
