Lucky keto charm?

(Isabel) #1

Hello, dear ketonians!

I’m a newbie - sort of again - I started keto in August, stopped, now I prepared myself to really get into it (got rid of all temptations, got 1/2 year wiser ) etc.

Perhaps it may sound childish - but I’m looking for a small lucky keto charm to carry with me from tomorrow on, when I start, to remind me in times of trouble, stress, temptation etc. that this is what I want - eating keto (my motivation: I’m not sick, slightly overweight, but first of all I believe, this is just the best diet to stay as healthy as I currently am). That I can pull out of my wallet or anything alike, that says: Ey girl, keep calm and keto on!

Any suggestions?

Thank you for your huge pool of knowledge and kindness, I’m listening to the podcasts since months, and they always reminded me to come back, after I fell off the horse. So here I am.

All the best! Isa

Welcome Isa,
Don’t have a clue about charms. But welcome to the forum.

Why not use a picture of an outfit that you want to wear or a place you want to visit with all the money you are going to save? Would something like that work?

(Isabel) #4

Hi Sophie! Thanks for the idea! Unfortunately I have no printer - and on the other hand, I figured old pictures of that beautiful me rather discourage me or seem to beat me up somehow, saying, well look what you did to yourself… So I’d prefer something more detached… Do you know what I mean…?

How about a charm bracelet with the letters, “KCKO” (Keep Calm & Keto On). There are online sites that will custom engrave a blank charm, or get 4 letter-charms.

LOVE that idea!!! There’s a bracelet manufacturer right in the street where I live at the moment (Asia), I will ask him to assemble this kind of bracelet for me. GREAT!! Thank you!

Oh, sorry, reading again, I got you wrong - a photo of an outfit or a place, not me… Still - no printer

On a chain or in your pocket

It’s called anchoring and is a good skill/habit to use to keep strong when your slippery slope thinking takes a hold. I keep my before photo handy on my phone.

I keep a Chomps beef stick in my purse or back back. Just my hand brushing by it reminds me I’m strong, lean, and I can KCKO in times of need.

I like the ideas in this thread!

You can also make a board on Pinterest that you can access from your phone. That way you can have lots of pictures at hand.

An edible charm, that is, so to speak? Awesome idea! Could be helpful in two ways! Thank you!

As long as you aren’t using food- like as in I’m a recovered food addict and “could” binge eat" on beef sticks.

I also Time restrict Eat, so I have to be careful. I have used beef sticks to head off a big binge (one of my support groups says, if you are overwhelmed by a binge urge- stick something keto in your mouth).

Anyhoo, as long as Keto foods are not being miss used… I can get stuck in traffic 2+ hours any one day in So. Cal. so I do keep beef sticks around. Tinned meat, too.

Have fun finding what works.

Thank you, that’s a really good point (recovering binge eater here, too). Very inspiring and making me aware of thinking about some challenges to come, prepare, anticipate… I hope you’re getting better on your way to recovery - lots of luck and strengh!! I also hope, keto will be one stepping stone more for me to get to a healthy, sensible and fun way of eating again…

6+ years. Keto is a great tool! Binge urges pop up, but I can deal. It’s good.

How about a small tattoo that has meaning to you. A friend recently got a tat of two interlinked circles, one in red to represent her emotional side. One in blue for her logical side and purple in the middle where cross. For her, it’s a reminder to not be reactive and make hasty decisions based on her emotions as she has tended to do but to not over think and fail to act as a result. It’s on her wrist and an easy gentle reminder for her. Simple but very meaningful. If you had some little symbol in mind that would help focus you or put you in the right frame of mind that might work well.
