Keto Breads - Are there any decent ones?

(Full Metal KETO AF) #41

Yes, it was harsh and I apologize to everyone. I really don’t care what anyone eats here. I just find some things seem a little bit self delusional. There’s a pile of contradictions that set me off. Sorry @Shinita. If you want to eat sweet fruits, gluten or whatever is fine, none of my business or concern. :v:t3::cowboy_hat_face:

Short answer is no! I’ve tried every one worth trying as well as tried to make a million of them myself (I spent a couple years as a bread baker) so I’d like to think I would have figured it out. If you can have the mindset many have of NOT comparing “keto” bread… to ACTUAL bread you may be good… I can’t. Weird dryness, grityness, off flavors… can’t do it. Schmidt makes a 6g net bread that looks and feels like the real thing. I haven’t tried it but going to the grocery store in the next hour or so, so maybe I will this time and report back with pics.

Indeed, 20g is just a pretty safe number, many of us can go way higher. Too bad ketosis doesn’t solve my problems or help enough regarding fat-loss, only extreme low-carb … But even if have 10g total (I don’t think I need to be that strict but I am often lower nowadays), I still can eat certain carbier items if I want. But it’s rarely a concern nowadays and never if I have a significant amount of meat. Carnivore is the most enjoyable woe for me as long as I have, like, 0.4 pounds of meat per day, at least, lower it’s trickier, some more makes it super easy and way above it’s not for me. Circumstances (food options) matter a lot though I still don’t want sweets or vegetables or nuts when I run out of meat now. But if I am hungry and can’t eat anything else because I overdid eggs, I eat them (well, the protein-rich sweets, it’s pointless to eat carbs like vegetables or low protein stuff like chocolate when I am hungry).

Thank you

I don’t see any self delusional things here, honestly. I don’t even know what do you may think about. Explain it to me. What is the problem? I don’t used the style you prefer, yeah but we are two different people. Keto is being in ketosis and I did it. No delusion, it didn’t do much, it didn’t solve my problems, I know I ate too much carbs for that but I couldn’t eat any less at that time, I needed those times to be here now. And my carb intake was high due to vegetables, that’s it.
I eat totally differently from myself back then too. I totally keep the right to eat whatever I want (and can) in any given moment but that’s how I roll, what’s wrong with it?
Gluten is bad for many and okay for others. I avoid it if I can but sometimes I don’t have the luxury, I feel I am starving and only it can save me after long hours of suffering (I am bad at suffering as a hedonist). It happened once in the last months.
See? I explain. I have reasons. And sometimes life forces me, not like I mind as long as I feel fine. Gluten feels okay, I just don’t want to use it without a real need, no matter how irresistibly delicious the dish is (and it’s cheaper than meat and I don’t need to worry about my protein anyway…). So I am actually surprisingly strong ignoring this siren song and using gluten in need and not all the time.

I love fruits. I have a fruit garden with lots of fruits. I obviously eat them sometimes. I see it pretty okay too. Not eating my own fruits while I like them, desire them and they don’t harm me in small amounts, that would be silly, anti-hedonistic and quite sad.

I apologized and I don’t want to keep talking about it. I find this whole thread kind of delusional. The bulk of this thread is all about IIFYM there’s no denying it, it was from the start. Nothing personal, and really none of my business how everyone approaches their diet. :cowboy_hat_face:

Okay, I do some little monologue then (who am I kidding? Of course it’s a long one). Why would be IIFYM delusional? It’s just some approach and it’s surely works for many. It’s almost ideal for me as my life gets better as I go lower with my net carbs (I had a limit before but it lowered and it wasn’t a physical one, my body was fine with very low, I couldn’t do it) and I don’t seem to be sensitive to thing apart from carbs (or things which come with carbs, maybe).
But I think I wrote that I have my own restriction set. I am not willing to eat most food other ketoers eat, for various reasons. So it’s far from just IIFYM. But inside my personal restrictions, it was IIFYM for very long. Now avoiding plants is part of my personal restrictions but not all the time and not completely, I kept spices, condiments and similar things. Gluten is the only plant item in bigger amounts on my default woe. I don’t know if it’s IIFYM, there is surely something of it but it’s more like just life. I want to feel right and not sacrificing a part of me without any good reason. It’s human, I would think but our individual approach can be quite different too so it’s normal to being against IIFYM as well. Each to their own. As long as people accept the others, I am fine with a lot of things. But too many people think only their method is the right one, I saw that a lot regarding eating. There are “schools” on keto but why would we follow them, I can’t comprehend. I never swored an oath or something, I am not obliged to do keto forever or even for 2 weeks straight or in some special way, I do what I want with my woe. I call mine keto when I do keto. Not some special keto, just keto, one style from the zillions.
I think almost everyone consider some of them worse or better, our knowledge, experiences and whatnots color our view. But it’s good to keep in mind that other people may need something totally different, due to their different bodies, circumstances and even mental and emotional things matter a lot in many cases. Sometimes it’s obvious that the diet hardly can meet the needs of a human body but the IIFYM approach isn’t that clear. Doing it blindly, totally, I don’t consider that good but even that may be the best option for someone and time probably will change things. Or maybe not. Some people even go back to their old diet and I can’t even say it’s bad, it depends.
It’s easy for me as I broke almost all “rules” (those weren’t my rules. usually. even our own, good rules are hard sometimes) So I don’t need a particularly big imagination to understand such things.

Okay, now I am fully finished, I think. Best wishes, folks if anyone still reads this for some odd reason.

We all have different rules, regarding what we eat, we all have different body’s, but I do prefer my meat. It fills me up and holds me, all throughout the day, it takes away my cravings, they totally go away. It may not work for some, some people may like fruit, but I don’t really like it because it makes me toot. All for you if you like it, no judgement here from me, but instead of sugar, I prefer my food salty. Ketosis is our goal, and we unite as one, in Keto we will shape the world so come on everyone!! We’ll lose fat from our bodies, we’ll finally take a stand, and hopefully than Keto will take over the land, and if it’s just for your health than that’s ok too, we do not need to argue…Hell whatever works for you. So now my speech is through, I’ve told you what I knew, I really need to pee now, so I’m going to the loo.:joy::joy:

I totally can relate… I prefer meat too and it has the same great effects. If I could choose my food, I definitely would live on meat and eggs now, mostly!
Our main food on keto is protein and fat and probably mostly salty stuff, I think… We barely eat sugar on keto, it’s a totally different thing than an actual meat for satiation and nutrition, just a little extra. And one can like fruits and dislike sugar and not having any desire towards sweet things at the same time, quite easily.
I definitely like the idea of having a great variety in every year. It doesn’t mean most items have a significant role. But a little extra now and then, that can be pretty nice even without a real need. Or a tiny extra every day, I had that with fruits in the beginning as I needed them for some reason (I physically felt bad without). It’s just like vegetables for others (and for myself for long), they don’t want to skip them (and vegetables easily bring way more sugar than my fruits ever did, usually. I avoid them way more seriously than many other plant items except in tiny amounts to compliment my fatty animal protein).
