July 2019 - IF/EF Chat Thread (All Welcome)

(Cancer Fighting Ketovore :)) #316

Thanks. I wish there was some way to tell if autophagy was happening and how effective/what it was doing

(Carol) #317

Yes to this. I feel we’re flying blind but I remain hopeful there’s some truth in it. If nothing else, my health continues to improve.

(Allie) #318

Morning everyone

Meal-less Monday is here for me again. I’ve had a crap night, don’t feel rested at all, not looking forward to the week at work at all as it’s going to be crazy hot outside which means the evil air con unit will be blowing it’s cold air at me even harder than usual. At least I haven’t woken up hungry today :joy:

Black salted coffee now, then on with the day…

(Failed) #319

Thanks, now to see if it lasts…:upside_down_face:

(Susan) #320

Have you thought about trying to cover the vent when you are at work (I know a few of us suggested it, I wondered if you saw that or asked your manager if you could?) I hope that the Meal-less Monday goes well for you; I am sorry I cannot do it this time, I did last week but I just broke a 74 hour fast and didn’t eat much, so not ready for it yet. I hope that your day improves and you are not too tired at work, take care =).

(Allie) #321

Management are apparently waiting on a quote to get this done, if it’s even possible as there’s me and one other person who are affected in this way and they don’t know if blocking off two vents will cause a problem for the system.

Congrats on the 74 hours you just did

(Susan) #322

Aww, okay, well I hope they can help you somehow with this =).

Thank you =). I hope that you feel better soon =).

(Eric - The patient needs to be patient!) #323

72 hours wow that is great. I think it is good to mix it up and confuse your body. I’m going to fast this week and maybe next then take a break for a week.

(Allie) #324

This is what I try to do constantly with roughly 16/8 Tues - Fri, no limits Sat & Sun (though tend to aim for at least 12 hours without food overnight), and Meal-less Monday.

(Eric - The patient needs to be patient!) #325

I tend to break my longer fasts at the end of the day. I usually do 3 meals the next day. I IF on weekends and usually the other days. But I do occasionally eat 3 meals when I complete my resistance training to failure, just for some lean mass gains.

Have a great meal-less Monday Allie.

Glad to see/hear everyone doing so well. :+1: I’m planning on doing some Fasting this week myself. - Felt a bit under the weather past couple days, and pretty much kind-of crappy this past week. Mostly stuffed up and congested, which is probably weather related too. (Being so hot and back in the AC, etc.) … So I’m just at 14 hrs. presently, with no set limit. But a nice week long might be in the works?

Happy Fasting Folks… :+1:

(Bob M) #328

Good luck to anyone doing a meal-less Monday. Due to family commitments, I may try for a meal-less Wednesday. Doesn’t roll off the tongue as well.

We had a vegetarian 13 year old stay with us for a few days. We were less than prepared for that, as we have no idea what a vegetarian eats. I think we did OK, and luckily no topics of conversation came up regarding this. (I eat many animal-only or very low vegetable meals.)

(Allie) #329

Currently at 23 hours and finding it easy to not eat, but still feeling crap after such poor sleep last night.

(Eric - The patient needs to be patient!) #330

I’m at 17.5 hrs. Hunger not bad. I’m a fasting pro is what I tell myself.

(Susan) #331

Awesome, Eric =).

#332

Well, I ended up doing OMAD the last two days, even though I was trying to fast. Sigh. I’ve just really been struggling in the evenings–and I’m not that hungry. I just can’t shut off mentally. Overall, I’m down a lb. for the week, which is progress, but I was hoping for a better week.

I’m going to eat today, and then plan on starting another fast tomorrow. I’d like to go two days, but if I could get through one, that would be good!

Happy fasting for everyone today!

(Bob M) #333

You just need something to do where you get home super late. For instance, tonight, I pick up my daughter from karate at 7:45pm. That means it’s not too long until I go to be, so if I can make it that far, I can make it overnight. That’s my normal plan for Mondays.

Today, I’m not fasting, though, as I went to the gym this morning (normally go Tuesday morning, so it works well with a fast on Monday), due to a scheduling conflict. I find I can no longer fast the same day I go to the gym.

(Eric - The patient needs to be patient!) #334

So far in my fasting experience, if I can make it home without gnawing on my hand I can make it till morning as well. Sleep is a wonderful thing.

(Eric - The patient needs to be patient!) #335

Okay ~24 hours in. I have some work work to do at home so I’ll be busy for an hour or two then a game of rummy with my wife before bed. Day 1 was pretty easy like last week.

I’ll be home tomorrow in the afternoon and will have to stay busy. Target is ~72 hours but always will consider less if my body tells me it needs to be.

I’m again telling myself I’m a fasting pro. Or in training at least.

(Susan) #336

You are doing great, Eric, keep up the good work =).
