Heart Irregularities, Pain and Insomnia

#1

Hi guys, I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome but am not overweight/obese and don’t have heart disease.

I was keto for a few weeks, broke it for Easter, then went back on. A few days in, I started having mid-back pain and painful heartbeat and sleep has been hard to come by. It generally seems to start in the evening and peak around midnight.

I have a hunch that my medical marijuana I use to sleep might be involved also. Does anyone know if these issues might be related to going Keto? Thanks!

Also wicked indigestion…

I know nothing in particular about anything medical, but back pain and indigestion can be signs of a heart attack. According to Dr. Google, these symptoms can reveal themselves weeks before an outright coronary event, especially in women. I would get to a clinic asap to make sure nothing serious is amiss. Best wishes.

II have chronic fatigue syndrome, pots disease, and vertigo as well as fibromyalgia. Have your palpitations only started with keto? Mine worsened at the beginning of keto. I made a cardiology appointment to check myself out. Found out that I have pots disease and the switch from lifestyle diet change caused a influx in my palpitations. I did have palpitations before keto. And my palpitations are still more than normal. But everything checked out for me with the doctor. Increasing salt helped me a lot. It actually is known to benefit from auto immune diseases such as chronic fatigue. I would give salt an increase as well as potassium, get a magnesium citrate either tablets or liquid and supplement that as well. I take 1-2 250mg magnesium tablets a day. I use lite salt for potassium. Look at the back of the lite salt, you only need two servings a day so follow what it says. I have a bottle in the morning and at night just mix in water and shake, I tend to drink it fast which the first few times can cause stomach irritation. But now is fine.

Palpitations started after Keto. I’ve had POTS for several years and it’s been worse on some occasions recently. Am taking about 600mg of magnesium/day, and as much salt as I can tolerate. How much potassium do you take? Thanks for your help!

You may find it’s easier to get appropriate electrolyte/mineral intake from foods. I use roasted, salted sea weed and spirulina, which is blue green algae. Also, you may be too acidic. Try adding some lemon juice or apple cider vinegar to your water during the day. There are so many different complaints that can be related to these two issues, I wouldn’t be surprised if yours are too.

I hope you find this helpful
Keep calm and keto on

I take 1/4 tsp in the morning in a bottle of water and 1/4 in the evening the same. I use lite salt it’s about 700mg potassium. Also I been partial to eating spinach cooked in butter as it also has a lot of potassium. Salt needs potassium so I think your having a potassium issue.

(Ashley) #9

That could be true she could be having a acid issue! Check out dr bergs video on daily apple cider vinegar. Also it won’t hurt in the mornings to squeeze some lemon juice into your water! It’s actually meant to help with digestion!

I think ACV and lemon juice are out due to histamine/phenol sensitivity.

Well at least give the lite salt a try, you can get it near most grocery stores right by regular salt!

In “Life Without Bread”, Wolfgang Lutz recommended that people with autoimmune diseases not go below 100 grams of carbs when starting the diet and then slowly working their way down because the reduction in carbs can cause the immune system to kick in.

I have chronic fatigue/fibro and do think that they can be caused by a virus and/or autoimmunity. Every time I try to go very low carb I do get worsening of symptoms. Last year when I went to low too fast I came down with shingles.

Something that you might want to consider along with keto is colostrum, it’s very helpful for the immune system.

I must of been lucky then because I have both them as well as other autoimmune diseases and i been doing fine!

I’ve wondered if being low-carb is part of the problem, but I am also dealing with gut dysbiosis and know I’ll feed it if I eat that many carbs. This is like walking a tightrope…

#15

I will try the lite salt, thanks!

(Ashley) #16

What is gut dysbiosis?

The species of bacteria that occupy your intestines shift from a healthy colony to one full of pathogenic bacteria. This usually involves bacteria in the large intestine, where it should be, moving up into the small intestine.

Oh boy! Doesn’t sound good!

Yes, it is like walking a tightrope. Starches are the worst for me because part of them is resistant to digestion and then the bacteria feed on it.

Yeah, I thought they were supposed to only feed good bacteria in the large intestine, but it doesn’t feel that way…
