February Zorn Fast 2018

(TJ Borden) #82

Interesting passage in that even though many here only fast for health reasons, the spiritual/biblical guideline of “keeping it personal” still applies. I learned the hard way not to tell people (other than my wife…and now this forum) because of the reactions I get.

I did a sleep study at a clinic a couple years ago and made the mistake of telling the nurse that I was on day 5 of an extended fast. She freaked out and wanted to put me on an IV.

I’m all in. Good to see so many newbies and of course the more experienced fasters as well. I just started so only a few hours in. As it was Valentine’s day, I had champers and stuff that can’t be listed here unless blurred. So lots of fats to get me through the fasting days.

(Candy Lind) #84

I kicked off about 0330Z Thursday to be “universal” (if I did that right it’s 9:30PM CST Wednesday).

#85

I’m in too! I have completed two 4-day fasts. Felt great although had stomach upset. Will up salt this time. It’s kind of lonely fasting on your own. Excited to join the group in this fast!

(What The Fast?!) #86

Hey fasting fam! I’m ready, let’s do this! I usually like to do an early dinner when I start a fast so I wake up with 12 hours under my belt, but Valentine’s Day foiled my plans! Started jusy before 9:30pm. Will likely end around 60 hours because we’re planning to do a 30+ mile bike ride on Saturday and I don’t do well riding fasted.

(Heather Miller) #87

I’m in. Had a nice Valentine’s dinner with some extra fat to keep me going! Not sure how long for this one, but looking forward to reading about everyone’s success!

I’m in. This is my 12th EF. For some reason, I am struggling on my DAY 1, which has never happened before. I am riding out the hunger and going 2-3 Days this time. I try to fast every month. I don’t have a lot of body fat (BMI 22 and sturdy frame), anyway I love fasting and am using regular EF to hold cancer recurrence at bay.

And then I crashed at the 72 hour mark - not hunger, more like an anxiety attack. Had that on the last EF too at around that mark… I suspect the culprit is lack of sleep and a super-intense work schedule - can’t imagine either doing anything for my cortisol levels.

Since neither of these are likely to change anytime soon, maybe I’ll just have to do multiple 72 hours fasts instead.

Had Dinner last night, breakfast and lunch today, now starting the next fast which should take me to Sunday dinner.

Joining in for as long as it seems helpful. Super :mask: with a cold. Feel like shit on a shingle. I’ve got electrolytes and salt at the ready.

Searched for cold/fasting and got a few hits from last year discussing it but no results. I did once fast away one of those endless viral coughs so we’ll see. No cooking or dishes will certainly help.

Soon as I get my daughter off to school I’m going back to bed :persevere:

Ok, here we go! This is my first Zorn fast! Will only be able to do 36 hours, but excited to be doing it with the group for the first time.

(Kellyn ) #93

I am going to try this Zorn fast as my first EF. I will start after lunch today as this morning I made a large lunch for today and I am current drinking a BPC. I have been following the forums since last year. I just started eating ketogenic again January 29th and going strong since my husband went to Fort Polk for Army training. He won’t be back until March 1st. Getting started and maintaining this WOE is easier without him at home. It’s because of the drinking mainly. We both love beer. I have given it up to stay in ketosis. I’m thinking that when he gets back I will look at making some low carb mixed drinks or grab a bottle of wine to have a glass nightly. I look forward to this challenge. Thanks, Brenda! You really are an inspiration!

ok, I’m in with all of you amazing folks!

I’ll modify it for some family obligations:

  • full fast until dinner Friday
  • OMAD on Saturday and Sunday (dinner only, which I know is normal for many of you but I rarely do it)

I had been fasting 2x/week for 40 hours last spring and I loved it but somehow I haven’t been able to get back into it, so I’m hoping this will be the kick-start (re-kick-start?) I need.

(mary6aros) #95

All right, 14 in, set my timer just because,:stuck_out_tongue:
Let’s do this!!
My body’s used to indulging at this hour, but coffee and salt crystals are it this time!

#96

I’m at 36 hrs, feeling good. Another 36 to go for me.

(Mike Glasbrener) #97

The plan for me:
Started @7:30 last night.
Spin 30-50 min today and tomorrow at about 60 hrs on Sat morning go for fasted bike ride as far as body will let me then come home and reseed if I’m hungry. So about 65 hrs… This will be the first one with integrated exercise for me… Scary? Not really. If I feel awful I’ll just break it off early.:grinning:

(Lonnie Hedley) #98

15 hours. Headache. Attributing that to skipping coffee. Seems I’ve become accustomed to my morning coffee and my head is wondering where that slow drip of caffeine is.

#99

How was your 3 day fast?

(Cailyn Mc Cauley) #101

Go Mike!

Not sure it’s possible with pics, but if you could use the blur spoiler when discussing food on an EF thread, that would be great. Also, there is a What did you Keto thread for posting food pics.

Thank you.
