I haven’t done an extended water only fast for a while, have been experiencing what feels like adrenaline issues recently and exercising isn’t quieting it down. With a few stressful events coming up soon, I am hopeful that an extended water fast (started this afternoon and going until at least October 29th), will give my body and mind some peace and rest, helping me deal with everything as calmly as possible! I have also been feeling a bit acidic so also hoping the fast will promote overall PH balance.
Fasting 4 Peace
Ambitious Gracie, I just don’t think I have that in me! I hope it helps you get through the stress and reap some benefits as well.
I definitely haven’t been in the fasting mindset for a while, I think this fast will be fairly effortless to stick with, because of my “why” in doing it. I think when I fast for weight loss, it’s easier to stop short of my goals lol (because some of the weight usually comes back).
I am going coffee free this time, I remembered what you wrote a while back about warm water during a fast, keeping that idea handy just in case
OKay, great =). You can boil it too like you are making tea, but just drink that, it is actually quite nice, I drink a cup or two daily, even when not fasting =).
Tea === Good! Green tea is my go to tea. But I enjoy some black tea occasionally as well.
I love tea as well; and for sure she can have that too =). I just meant that sometimes just the boiled water is nice as well =).
I also love Herbal Tea, it is very nice too.
I avoid all but mint because I think I could be triggered easily and don’t want to slip. I am very careful now.
That is good that you know what can cause problems for you to avoid those things, very wise =).
Good to know yourself.
I personally drink some green tea (Walmart generic) with some mint tea added. I make it by the pitcher because my kids drink it (they sweeten w/ stevia). Its a fairly large pitcher and I do 4 bags of green tea and 2 of mint.
Hit a short-lived rough spot earlier and had a nice warm cup of boiled water My feet and hands have been really cold - weird for me as I usually don’t get that until several days into a water fast. I probably need to move more lol.
About 50 hrs into my fast now… I had about 2-3 oz of black coffee this morning after waking up with an awful headache. It seemed to take away the headache (or could have been a coincidence in timing). I just really do not enjoy black coffee Was happy that I ran out my HWC supply before beginning this fast, had it been around the temptation might have been too great!
About 72 hrs in now, have had some pretty intense tummy rumbles and mental hunger off/on today. I had a 3lb drop this morning in weight, I usually won’t weigh myself until I am 48hrs into a fast nowadays (for me the initial drop seems to just be reduction of inflammation, hopefully not dehydration, drinking decent amount). I didn’t feel the need for any black coffee today, but did have a couple of mugs of plain green tea brewed from tea bag. I am just now beginning to feel calmer, but also more exhausted than previous fasts (although I woke at 5 am this morning and wasn’t tired again until about 6 am…). Made my family dinner last night really struggled with the idea of wanting to eat, thankfully it passed quickly and my fast lives on another day lol.
About 95hrs in now, was able to forgo black coffee again today, I think my sleepiness might not be fasting related, but more lacking-coffee related. Starting to think about my fast-breaking plan, found this:
It was in the frozen section of Walmart and kind of pricey. I have tried to make my own bone broth, but think I may have done something wrong with temperatures (kind of made me sick). So my thought right now is to defrost the broth overnight Mon/Tues and then sip a bit throughout Tuesday and see how my stomach handles it. I was down an additional 2lbs on the scale this morning, this kind of surprises me, makes me think I was experiencing more inflammation than I realized before beginning this fast
