hmm, umm, ewwww? or ugh or NO or hmmm…ick…I am not a creamer other than my alfredo sauce. I don’t do coffee for add or never do cream in any way other than this sauce ever so??? good thought but to me a ‘thicky like creamy drink’ is not me ya know. I like that lighter than light suck down fast and inhale type drinker vs a sip creamy and get some taste type drinker.

yea I was a fast drinker back in the day LOL

that is a cool way to maybe roll but that just ain’t me truly but I SO appreciate the throw out on it!

you do any drinking Azi? ever on holidays or such? just wondering

(Linda ) #82

Used to but kind of gave it up when my husband got pancreatitis and couldn’t drink…but yeah I got sick on
dark rum one too many times so I was more into barcardi or whisky and dry then Baileys now and then…im not a big coffee drinker I can have the odd one but I’ve been trying out herbal tea like raspberry…maybe that could be an option for your rum no sugars

I light beer was always ok on a hot day…

Oh guys these pictures makes me hungry  And it’s only 11am and I even ate some last night, why I do these things…? I wasn’t really hungry but I wasn’t satiated, it was a smallish meal but I would have survived without it I guess… I try to be better next time but the only long term solution is being very satiated until bedtime. It’s hard to do without meat even if I do some ketovore style as I can’t live on eggs alone.
But today I finally went shopping and bought some lean pork (Alv wanted it for the lots of veggies left when I ate up the chicken above. yesterday I ate the bites I left for him as he didn’t need it at all) and some chicken (for later, it’s in the freezer now). So we have enough pork until the city shopping, yay! I got almost bored of my pancakes at this point, I ate several every day as I had no better ideas after I ate my other egg dishes.

My 100g salmon spread is quite long-lasting, I still have some. I mixed it with other things and it’s still has enough salmon flavor…
I almost run out of eggs though, we buy more tomorrow, just as much as we can bring with bicycle. Alvaro doesn’t even have a basket, just a backpack but that is usually full with other things. My bicycle has a basket so I go and help with the eggs.
I like eggs now, interestingly. I usually get enough of them when I have little meat but pancakes are different and my biscuits got interesting too. Just too salty and not enough crunchy, I change the recipe again. Less egg white and cheese. I have plenty boiled egg yolks anyway… But even my “failed” attempts were quite tasty (just salty and a bit too soft, still good) and provided a nice variety.
Oh I have a photo of them somewhere!

[…]
The pork was nice though little. But I am happy with my eggs and I don’t need very much food to get satiated. I will eat the bigger part of my pork tomorrow, I just made a little for the vegetables, I only put lean pretty parts there and it’s more work to cut off everything else… It was enough for lunch. I barely needed something later, I don’t think I ate much today but I am bad at guessing. But it must be little, little lean meat, a few eggs, some cheese, this and that… Whatever, it was enough. I actually got satiated after some eggs but I could eat all the pork Alvaro hadn’t. Maybe I don’t only have normal and dessert stomach but a separate meat stomach too. But I rather just have a very big distance between not being hungry and being completely satiated (when not eating much meat. meat brings these very close, it seems).
I opened a can of pâté too. It has some stupid ingredients, carbier and worse than the salmon spread and I could make my own, actually… Well I tried.

Today’s biscuits (and there will be tomorrow too, I still have lots of leftover boiled yolks as I ate a lot of deviled and boiled eggs lately and they need way more whites) were made in the microwave oven. I still have no idea what the grill in it for, it doesn’t seem to do much, at least not in the time I can wait with my tiny patience… But I am experimenting with it now. Thin biscuits, they don’t need very much time. Still spent several minutes on them… The soft biscuits is a bit “bready”, the crunchy ones are closer to cheese wisps… And they are still too salty, I must lower the cheese content again. Cheeses are too salty for me, I enjoy them in moderation (10g a day unless I make biscuits, then easily 40g) until I still can  But I probably always can, I just need a very tiny amount or adding a lot of less salty stuff. Now I add yolks and some egg white and it’s still too salty but the spice may be a problem (unsalted spice but well, spice lowers the sodium need/tolerance of my tastebuds). It’s possible my biscuits don’t even need any spice, I rarely use them in my food except a few dishes like stews.

It’s a cooler day today. Yay.
My garden have news but they are about fruits so I don’t say them  But the morning glories gets longer and longer too! I always have pink and purple ones as well.

Drinks… I am a pure drinker. Well there was a time when I used vodka to “water” down my strong booze… Okay, that was mostly Alvaro, 80% black absynthe and 40% vodka
I only liked mojito, I drank that maybe 3 times in my life. My other drinks were plain ones, I am simple like that when it’s about booze. but I can add carbonated water to certain things, like a too strong beer (it happened only once, with my last beer, it was a bit too bitter and it had a very strong flavor so it could handle water). I usually did it to my fruit juices (liquid from canned fruit) as they are often horribly sweet and very very flavorful. Just a mouthful liquid left in the jar, it can’t harm me but it’s nice. So I only add water if something too strong and bitter/sweet for me. I would never ruin my beloved Glenlivet with anything! Not like I buy it ever. Maybe to celebrate something. Not my birthday, that’s no reason to celebrate. We could buy a bottle, sure but it’s expensive and not needed, I am quite fine without. One day it will happen and that will be nice and deserved.
I want beer in summer anyway. Or carbonated water. 1-2dl beer per month? Sometimes more, I probably go over 5dl sometimes. Way less in winter but it happens. I would like smaller cans. Belgian beer was on sale (0.25dl though most are 0.33dl I think) but we weren’t in the city at that time. 0.25dl for 2 persons, that’s cute! Just the right amount for me, maybe not for Alvaro though he seems to be very flexible. It’s always me who initiates drinking. If it’s vodka, I can do it alone but I need help with a whole beer, that would be very excessive for me. Maybe not a 0.25dl one. It’s barely more than my normal amount.

I haven’t find my biscuit photos (it’s probably on the CF card that Alvaro used and took, I will find it one day) but I can show some butterflies on my summer lilac. I saw them from my kitchen window when I do the dishes.

Yes only 22.5 payslips to go lol not like I am counting  all part time too so should pass relatively quickly. Cannot wait to retire. I should have retired at 60 and only had 4 yrs left to do when our government changed my retirement age from 60 to 66 and suddenly the light at the end of the tunnel went out! It was like being given a life sentence … instead of 4 years, overnight I had 10! So in answer to your question NO I am definitely not working any longer. Can you imagine in my job scrapping about on the floor with naughty prisoners who can behave themselves when you’re in your mid 60’s.?

So I was up at 4.45am and got the stair runs done. They actually felt good this.morning. they always seem easier when I haven’t had as many hours in bed to get stiff lol. Spebt the day running around and it was hot and sweaty day. Uniform felt uncomfortable sticking to me yuk and I was there for a 14 hour shift!

Did a further 40 odd flights of stairs carting about all the added weight from the kit on our belts. My feet felt swollen from wearing the heavy shoes and the heat.

Took a pack up of chicken butter and cheese for the mikey and some ham and cubed cheese for tea but didn’t eat it all. Just too flippin hot.

Not at work tomorrow but back in for a 3 day weekend on Saturday. Think we’re in for a busy one too because covid cases have risen while I have been off and quite a number of staff are off isolating. Hey ho I will just have to enjoy tomorrow all the more!

#85

ohh I know that feeling  luckily for me those are years in the past and I have to say, I sure don’t miss those days of it all HA

an herbal tea…that is interesting actually. It would be no fake sweetener. The reason I dropped tea was cause of the tannins in it…the tannins gave me dry mouth and weirdo numby type mouth feeling I did not like one bit. I am kinda scared to try that again, to add it back.

What I am figuring out is my body is really not liking the rum drink at all anymore and it is signaling me but I don’t wanna listen just yet HA
I am older and don’t drink much but darn, come on, let me have a little fun still

thanks for that idea, that might be a thing to try, I will shop the store and see what is out there. Never know what concoction is out there I might make. I am not a flavored water fan either but maybe something like that, hmm, gonna have to think on this.

oh gosh you had me laughing on this one!! You’re a braver sole than I LOL
Your butterfly pics are nice!!

Ummm, WHO ain’t counting? HA
I hear ya…and wow on how you got caught in that govt. changeover! It musta burned your butt when you realized you hit that zone of getting caught and had to work longer…but yes, like you when I did retirement I couldn’t wait and I took it and never worked another day and I have to say, it is a nice thing!

I know alot of people enjoy working like my Dad, he retired and took part time jobs and then worked for me for my farm sales to stay busy, but I am not that type. I am a worker when I have to work but I also am a lover of my down time, relaxed do nothing days and just take that darn work responsibility off my shoulders…hey WE ALL put in alot of years at work…some part of our lives should be in our full control with no daily grind

----------------July is flying down now, hitting the point of finishing off this month and heading into August. Time sure flies

nice big steak, yum
tin of sardines
few slices of leftover pork tenderloin

and NO RUM drink

I floated in my pool goofing off and did not have one and didn’t miss it at all but now it is on my mind not to drink when I don’t really need one ya know. I would rather save my rum drink for a more ‘occasion’ like my vacation times or a celebration than to just ‘float the pool and booze down’. So I accomplished that so far LOL

defrosting a big rack of pork ribs
defrosting 2 big Tbone steaks
defrosting 4 pack of chuck brisket burgers
defrosting giant roaster chicken

you can see my food here for a few days

all good in zc land and just rollin’ along thru July!

So I finally took the leap and jumped on the scale I’m up a total of 8 pounds from my lowest of 134… and as much as that should make me want to go back to counting macros and watching every calorie I have no desire to do that. When I first started carnivore in Feb I was still keeping my calories low and my thoughts are well if stopping restriction once reaching goal is going to cause weight gain then it probably wasn’t sustainable anyway because at some point you always stop.

I am truely happy that I no longer feel like I’m dieting…I’d be lying if I said it doesn’t bother me to be up 8 lbs there is still a fear that it will keep climbing… Even with that fear I’m not ready to go back to dieting, we’ll not yet at least.

Today I only had one Franken rib left in the package to which I added two eggs , I have two rib eye in the fridge as well but I knew cooking one of them I’d not eat it all and I didn’t want to waste it so I pulled out Columbian sausage that has 1 gram of carbs and cooked that …turns out I didn’t need to I didn’t want it lol.
So maybe the dogs will get that… so it really does seem that this lower eating might be real…maybe its adding the eggs that has done it?
When I first started keto I ate a ton of eggs and hadn’t touched eggs in months. But suddenly I had eggs on the brain so I listened and started with one egg now im eating two eggs each meal and have probably cut the meat I’m eating in half but it’s stopped hunger I’m no longer looking for pork rinds maybe there is something in eggs I was lacking? idk lol.

So for now I’ll just keep listening to body and see where it takes me I guess…

Arghhh horrid day yesterday I just melted in my uniform and tomorrow Sun and Mon are going to be hotter still so meltdown 2, 3 & 4 on the way! I just drip all day nasty!

However I had a lovely day today. Stair runs after a bit of a lay in and nice relaxing bath before brunch of ribeye eggs and bacon then got ready for dancing. Had a super time although again I ended up a drippy wet mess as the room was really hot.

Home for dinner but just had some cheese selection and tiny bit of ham leftovers.

This evening I went to the CrossFit skills class. My daughter and son in law were also there so really lovely to get my hugs from them both.

In bed now ready for work tomorrow. Have a super weekend x

Today I realized 700g lean pork (below 1000 kcal according to the data I would use if I tracked… Alvaro ate maybe 60g of it but I don’t think it matters much) is a tiny amount. Not for one meal as I tend to be fine with even a smallish one nowadays but for a whole day… While 700g fatty meat is plenty even without eggs. But when I don’t eat eggs  So I stick to my more effective fattier stuff, it’s even more enjoyable
I will get lots of meat tomorrow and make experiments. I wish for some super simple days, only meat and maybe (probably) a few eggs, that’s it.

We have hot days again. Today I cycled, at least. Just a little bit, maybe 16km? With elevation in the hottest time of the day.Oh well, I survived but I drank and poured water on me… What I wouldn’t do to procure my 100 eggs! I do the butcher visit next week. Seriously now, it was so long ago… I still didn’t buy tongue!
Cycling isn’t so bad, choir meeting (we lost our leader, she don’t have time for us, she has her number one choir and her work and kids and everything… hopefully we can find someone, choir was 95% of my social life and I liked singing and being at festivals and whatnots) was where I totally felt I was melting the whole time.
We need rain too :frowning:

I don’t know but eggs have a lot of stuff. They make a whole lil animal, after all (but it gets some calcium from the shell too, I’ve read. I know eggs don’t have much calcium - or magnesium. and no vitamin C. but it has almost everything and it’s nice and versatile :D). Amounts matter, of course but I often eat several eggs, it’s typical for me since a decade, after all. But I need meat too and these 2 pillars give me a very good base. But meat is more satiating. I guess. Maybe I should experiment with that too but I have not much wriggle room, I need eggs and meat alike, I will just eat them in the ratio I fancy and will take notes about the result  It would be good if my timing would be similar every day… But it won’t be.

(Linda ) #89

I was finding meat was good but I was eating more and still looking for something…well I added eggs and then I didn’t need more of anything…except today I had to use up the egg whites I had bought so I made some of this protein sparing bread into buns just to see how they turn out it made 6

NoFUN (No Food Until Noon). Amazing surf at the beach today. Way too big for me.

Stacking firewood is a good energy burner and muscle activator.

Bacon and eggs and 80g Jarlsberg cheese. 2 coffees, one with cream.

I need to shop for coffee, bacon, eggs, steak, other meats on special (looking for ruminants).

Shopping and cooking are so simple. Last night I made Mrs. Bear vegetable casserole based on pumpkin (squash), zucchini and mushroom. So much chopping and dishes! Carnivore for the lazy win!

#91

@FrankoBear yea carnivore is easy, not lazy HAHA
I just put chuck roast, carrots, taters, onions etc in crockpot to make a beef stew for family. Done deal. I am having a rack of pork ribs for second meal  Your casserole for your wife was nice of you to make for her! And yes it is alot of kitchen work :sunny:
Hey, we carnis are never lazy people, we are smart no cook’ums.

@Azi, yea you are ok. You are flipping around and finding you in all this. For me it wasn’t pork rinds, I started gaining up some when ‘I used chicken wings’
for snacking. I would eat good steak etc. and then a bit later I wanted just a tad more and I would heat up a bunch of chicken wings I kept on hand for ‘just in case snacking’ Then I realized too much…just too much in that I started to rely on them in a weird way like a ‘not really needed’ backup. I stopped them, stuck to my 2 meals per day and ate normal, never limited myself on portion per meal but dropped the wings and I lost the gained lbs and kinda like ‘locked myself in better’ with my eating plan. I know alot of us carnivores have an adjustment time on what we really like to eat, how we want to eat in our day, how our fat content seems to shift around on what we want and all that jazz…time is just needed to walk thru it all
Your posts are very intuitive and I like that.

--------So pool is great, enjoying it. No rum drink swim times! feel less bloated so that shows that my summer fun drinks are just bloating me out as alcohol does to some of us, —so far so good on that issue.

got a Tbone steak for first meal
got me a rack of pork ribs for later tonight for dinner time

all good here
trying to keep zc in a very simple eating zone. I don’t wanna ‘think further outside’ of the meats that suit me best. I am the type that does best and feel greatest with the least amt of work on my eating plan, eat well, just let it happen and don’t get too involved on being manic over it "
 time for me to get out of my own way HA

#92

food was honking big 1.5 lb Tbone steak. wow I just got it all down

few bites of meat from beef stew
2 beef sticks

ate my steak later in the day, around 3 so it just cancelled my other meal for the day.

today I am making that rack of pork ribs and probably cooking that roaster chicken for family.

Got call last night, mother in law can’t breathe. Even on her oxygen. Hubby got her to ER and admitted doing testing etc. I chatted with her and doing comfortable and ok right now…will find out more later today.

last few times this went down it was congestive heart failure with the fluid around the heart and yes her eyes were swelled some along with her body so…just handling all that today.

over and out, be carnivore good everyone

#93

I am unable to finish this 1 kg rump steak. About half way through and hit that wonderful appetite off button.

#94

Oh I learned to make super easy carby food  If I don’t use veggies, it’s WAY easier (are dry legumes veggies? no idea. well they are the best work wise, even have protein and satiation effect, they are dense and special)! Or if I use some canned ones. Never again would I clean and cut up vegetables for an hour just to make something not satiating (for me, at least but Alb needs a bunch of stuff with it too. and dessert).

Ahoy guys, yesterday was tiring but not bad and I got supplies
Not as much as I wanted as the hypermarket was lacking at the pork without tons of package area. I bought 2 middle sized pork chuck slabs (4.7kg in total), a little pork ribs, the others were birds, either with little package or in fully packed boxes. I would HATE buying a tiny thing in a big plastic box for sure. I actually need amounts anyway. I bought new stuff to try! Turkey liver and goose necks. And some turkey thigh filet for Alvaro’s dishes requiring some lean meat. He is into lean bird filet anyway and I dislike breast so it’s thigh and turkey at that as that’s tastier.
I bought more chicken thighs too, just a little bit but I never will use it without much more pork, I learned the lesson.

So I have pork chuck roast again, it’s wonderful, hard to get bored of it  I can imagine eating it for decades, a few times every week. If we talk about dishes, it must be my least boring food, along with other nice fatty meats. If it’s about ingredients, it’s eggs, they are super versatile - but having a big meal using only them, that requires creativity and multiple dishes. Meat is simple, i just fry a lot and eat as much as I want… Possibly with a few eggs if I am not in a mood for a meat-only meal. Simplest ever.

Yesterday I ate at Alvaro’s Mom and it wasn’t particularly meaty. It wasn’t a keto day, oh well, I chose my carbs well enough so I was fine. I totally forgot to bring food but I planned my carnivore-ish times later anyway, starting today. It’s SUPER EASY with pork chuck roast, I must say. And all the other stuff I bought! ALL my fav processed meat was on sale. I have bresaola but not the usual thing! That is deep purplish, very strong flavored, an acquired taste… Sometimes not cut into thin slices with visible spice masses, ouch. Nope, this is reddish-pinkish tender lil thing, not so flavorful but very nice. I bought some sausage and 2 packages (200g each) from that insanely dense stuff (86% fat in weight if I remember correctly?) with ULTIMATE satiation skills. It would be the perfect travel food if I don’t care about long joyful meals. The stuff is super tasty but I surely wrote I eat it at a high speed, several hundreds of calories per minute. So it’s good for few minutes long OMAD meals. Super effective. Right now I try to forget about its existence, it’s very potent stuff and I want to enjoy my roasts now.

I got hungry super early today so I ate at noon. My pork wasn’t ready yet but I had 4 leftover boiled eggs and great things for it (bresaola, sausage - it was so long - and my favorite camambert, not like I tried ANY except this very type and the completely tasteless Hungarian ones. no idea why Hungarians like those), I admit I used mustard (I have sugar free one again) and 2 very thin slices of cucumber (it’s JUICY, it’s good and the amount was perfect).
But later my pork was ready (at least the thin slices) and ate the thin slices, much, much better than eggs with processes stuff or basically anything else except certain other fatty meat dishes.

I plan to eat mostly pork roast for dinner. It will be nice.

Alvaro ignores my pork and eats eggs with his protein-carbs (lentils) and other carbs. He gets his fat from his chocolate, I presume. Nope, he bought bananas and made chocolate-banana pudding again. He does it almost all the time nowadays… I start to get really bored of it and it’s not me who eats it… Okay, he keeps his fat low now then, it will change soon enough. He ate more fat on high-carb than me on my old keto (well his energy need is surely higher than mine and I tend to overeat sometimes while he stays hungry but doesn’t get fatter if he can avoid it. I don’t get fatter by mere overeating), I wonder what is the case now… It probably depends on the day, my numbers never liked to stick to certain small ranges. My protein:fat ratio can be anything between 0.5 and 2.0 though it’s usually around 1. Pork chuck is leaner than that but I opened a bag of cream again… I am so incorrigible. But today will be leaner than usual, I ate boiled eggs (with half as much yolks than whites as almost always) and the bresaola balances out the fatty sausage.

It’s very comfy to have enough proper food. And especially more than enough ready to eat roast! (Okay, I will roast the big pieces a tad more but it won’t need much time. And the outer parts are already borderline fine anyway.)

I’m reading back, ouch, I am sorry for your mother-in-law, Fangs :frowning: Or whatever the right expression is :frowning: It’s sad.

We only have problems with a guinea pig we care for now. Poor one is old and not totally healthy but we do what we can. We were worried yesterday even if it’s just a lil old piggie but knowing our human family members are fine enough, that’s great to know. Of course, Alvaro’s Mom isn’t healthy at all but she isn’t particularly unwell now, she is planning a holiday in Italy, she isn’t sure it can happen due to her Sputnik V vaccine that isn’t as liked as others but in the worst case she and her friend goes to some nice beach elsewhere, in Slovenia or Croatia.
I wasn’t in a beach since ages and I only was in a sea once in my life (I was twice at a sea but looking at it for half an hour isn’t much).
I very love water and fortunately, there are plenty water around here. I can see herons and swans and lots of ducks every day if I want.

(Linda ) #95

So sorry your mother in law is not doing well Fangs will keep you in my thoughts hope you hear some good news.

Well its so hot here I think I made that protein bread at the right time I’ve been able to slice my steak up thin and eat it as a sandwhich with a bit of mayo…(when it comes out of oven it’s very much like Styrofoam in texture but once I cut them in half put all the zip lock bags and left over night it was more moist bread texture like )its only egg white and egg white powder and I cut the egg white powder in half it called for 1 cup I only added half cup and with a few sprinkles of salt…so def still in carnivore land range of ingredients…

So I took out chicken to grill to make a chicken sandwhich for dinner I ate this and a smaller thigh20210718_151348 20210718_151343 20210718_151228

#96

720g pork (1.6 pounds) today. It was nice  I actually could have eaten more of it but I am big on avoiding overeating, it was enough and I definitely ate lots of calories even if I don’t know how many when I focus on fatty meat. This chuck seems especially fatty but I gained a lot of lard from it… Tracking is impossible at this point but I still can track my meat intake  I definitely eat more meat than a year ago, due to various reasons.

It seems my salt need keeps dropping. If my eating becomes really simple, I will track my salt intake as well.

#97

@Shinita, that is great your salt needs are dropping. Another great benefit of seeing changes in yourself and just go with the flow. Glad you scored some good meats!

@Azi, thanks, mother in law is holding her own…trying to get the fluid off her heart and lungs, so far she is improving.

You are seeming to love your egg bread  Your sandwich pics are nice!!

------------all going good for me
rack of pork ribs yesterday were so delish! yum
had 6 slices of bacon earlier so the big rack of ribs filled me out for the day…but woofed down 2 beef sticks later in the evening

got a big roaster chicken for cooking later
not sure what else I might eat but it will be meat
(edited to say I forgot I defrosted a big pack of pork country style ribs so gonna make those…the family can eat that chicken HAHA) So pork again today for me.

(Linda ) #98

Great to hear that your mil is improving hopefully she keeps improving and can get back home soon…

Yeah the sandwiches were a nice change but chicken is definitely not a meat that I can eat on its own it just doesn’t hold me long enough and I’m wanting to eat again… so back to beef I go with eggs and see how I do.

Still haven’t been eating pork rinds so I haven’t been snacking on any thing which is great I never used to snack…having my husband gone and only cooking for my self is def alot easier im not being tempted to eat just because I’m cooking food and it smells good…Often he wasn’t hungry when I was…

Good thing is even though he is in Nebraska he is still sticking to carnivore the best he can even if it means living on rotisserie chicken/ dry ribs …etc he said he has lost so much and made so much improvement on his diabetes he doesn’t want to go back…which is great cos it’s prob the first time I’ve ever heard him say that…normally when we have tried low carb in the past he just doesn’t care …

Hi Everyone, it was a busy weekend, but good busy. We threw a high school graduation party for our baby on Saturday and attended a going away party for a neighbor on Saturday. I will admit I thoroughly enjoyed myself for the graduation party (I was celebrating the end of 21 years total of homeschool my children), but was back on track Sunday. I actually didn’t touch one bit of food at the party on Sunday.

I do believe I have reached the point of metabolic flexibility because even though I indulged in a fair bit of non carnivore food on Saturday, I was my normal energetic self on Sunday, no stomach upset or feeling achy. I don’t even think I bloated up very much. I have even found I can have a small bit if dairy and not massively react to it. That is a very exciting development, because that means I don’t have to be so paranoid about it.

@Azi, those buns looked great. I think I am going to have to try making them.

@Fangs, my husband was a beef drinker and enjoyed some scotch once in a while. He completely gave up drinking over a year ago and has no regrets. Says he feels much better without it. Also, sending positive thoughts to your mother-in-law and your family.

I hope you get to keep enjoying those moments.

Office lunch with dessert
