Eating too little, eating too much?

(The crazy German guy) #42

As for weight loss, I’m reporting gains in the last 3 days straight. +800g versus my lowest weight.
Not motivating…

#43

When I first started I rediscovered savoury food protein plus fat and I ate like I hadn’t eaten in 20 years. I really stuffed myself properly.

But I stuck to the 20 g carb limit then as I became more Keto adapted my appetite went down.

Hang in there. Think in terms of a week or two not a day or two otherwise you’ll be chasing shadows and running after numbers.

If you do you weigh yourself, do it after your first visit to the bathroom in the morning wearing the same clothes on the same scales. Otherwise your water levels fluctuate throughout the day plus or minus 2 L.

Hang in there let us know how you go next week

Three days…

(The crazy German guy) #45

Look, i spent 2 weeks losing 4kg and now within 4 days gaining 1.3kg, that drives me mad. It’s not up&down, it’s everyday more.
Today again +500g. I know this isn’t fat…

(Running from stupidity) #46

Good, losing fat is the point, not losing weight.

(The crazy German guy) #47

This was today - in numbers. It’s in German, but probably no problem to figure out what‘s what.
Began drinking my coffee with Butter. I can‘t believe the energy peak this gave me this morning. I felt like i‘m On some kind of turbo happy energetic drug.

FWIW, yesterday I weighed 1.2kg more than I did the day before.

Now, the day before I think I was a little dehydrated because it was hot and I was doing a lot of work and couldn’t drink as much as I wanted as I was out for a lot of it.

Then yesterday my body was busy reclaiming that hydration, so I was drinking a fair bit.

And 1.2kg is only two Camelbak bottles worth of fluid. That’s how easy it is to get a decent weight fluctuation going.

Upping my fat intake!
Today, 500g less on the scale

#50

Good to see.

But remember, since our body only regulates water to a +/- 2L accuracy the scales will bounce around … up and down throughout the day. That said, I still like to weigh myself first thing in the morning after first bathroom trip. But it’s what is going on over a week or month that matters, right.

Cheers

(The crazy German guy) #51

Yes, I do it the same way. Bathroom, take „my time“ and then weigh.

#52

@daniellealberta: Congratulations on the fat loss. You are where I want to be. Inspiring me to know that this does work.

Thanks

@cw2001, thanks for the commonsense approach! With all the tables and charts and graphs and calculators, it’s a wonder our ancestors were able to put a single morsel into their mouths without being advised or cajoled or corrected by somebody. I have done all the things you mentioned in your post and I find it psychologically satisfying to indulge those “cravings” and not feel the slightest shred of guilt that is societally imposed.

Wow.

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #55

Are you gaining muscle or fat? Is the density of your bones increasing? How accurate is your scale?

If I step on my scale twenty times in a row, I will get twenty different weights over quite a range of values. Two weeks ago, it said I had dropped ten pounds, then later in the week it said I had gained 25 (11 kg). Now it’s back to fluctuating in my normal range. Go figure!

I should probably note that after 12 months of stable weight, I can now get into pants that didn’t fit 12 months ago. Recomposition rocks!

(The crazy German guy) #56

Interesting!
I figure, I rather go and check my measures once a week than stepping on a scale once per day.
Using the US Navy methodology to figure out my body fat percentage, and use this as my metric

(The crazy German guy) #57

Today - all-time low : 153,5kg.

Took my measurements using the US Navy Method yesterday : 44,21% body fat.
My belly is 151,5cm - wow!

My late breakfast was quite interesting: 3 slices of meatloaf (200g), one of which i put a slice of cheddar cheese on top. 5 slices of bacon (50g), all of which fried with 1 table spoon of ghee.
My coffee: 20g butter

All-in, my breakfast was 1035calories, 99g fat, 35g protein. I couldn‘t eat the 3rd slice of meatloaf though. Just full. Will have it later in the day.

(The crazy German guy) #58

I’m still pretty much hovering in the 153,5-153,9 kg range. No hunger, no cravings. I hit my protein with around 20% accuracy and eat fat until full. Works quite well.
But that dreaded weight loss, specifically its absence drives me mad. I feel like a guy like me with so much weight should be dropping weight quicker.

Welcome to your body doing what it wants, not what your conscious brain wants.

(The crazy German guy) #60

Indeed. But I lost 2cm on my waist since Saturday.

All sorts of wins happen, the scale is but one of them.
