Thanks collaroygal! I’m trying! One day I think I’ve got this figured out, then the next I’m completely baffled. I’m starting to think I’m better off this way…not really sure what the heck I’m doing.

Thanks Ruina! Likely my oldest and worst eating habit. I like to snack at nights…

Ok, this week’s weigh-in is 387.6, which is a 4+ pound drop. I’m now down 107+ down in 5 months…er, 22 weeks…or 156 days…or over half a million seconds. Time flies!
Here’s my loss chart. Nothing new. Weight loss is NOT linear!

Since I reset my eating a couple weeks ago and ceased eating anything after about 6:30pm (dinner), and cut all snacking during the day, my morning blood glucose (and subsequent intraday BG measurements) have slid lower and stayed lower.
This chart shows the last 30 days, morning BG only. Each data point is a single day. You can see the last 14 days it’s been nice and steady. Coinciding with that, my weight losses have improved.

Way to go

(Mike Glasbrener) #103

Nicely done! Keep up the good work! Your body is thanking you.

(I Am The Egg Man ku-ku-kachoo) #104

Thanks Virginia & Mike!
My body should hate me for being so awful to it all these years. :grimacing:

(Running from stupidity) #105

Yeah, and that makes you an orphan, right?

(I Am The Egg Man ku-ku-kachoo) #106

Idk.
Sometimes it feels like the blind leading the blind, and others it seems soooo obvious.
I wish it was this hard to gain weight.

(Mike Glasbrener) #107

Dude, you’re killing it! I get your concern when the scale slows down… However, it’s a marathon, not a sprint. Your weight loss so far is almost linear with a couple of blips. Your weight loss curve has flattened much at all yet. Your BS numbers are enviable. You are on your way. KCKO!

(I Am The Egg Man ku-ku-kachoo) #108

Thanks Mike!

I’m really stoked that this first 100 was so easy for me, because I have so much to lose. I fully expect that when I get down 300-330 lbs (the weight a lot of big guys start keto) it’ll get a lot more challenging.

Oh and I am thrilled my BG numbers are better! Thanks!

You got this!!!

Congratulations on your progress do far

:+1:

I just wish we had some evidence that this fad diet was effective.

That’s more linear than Ancel Keys’ Seven Countries Study!

Thanks for the update, Don. Still doing great! :+1:

(Running from stupidity) #111

You mean the “25, no, 17, no, 12, no SEVEN! Yes, SEVEN!” countries winnowing study?

#112

That’s the one! :grinning:

(The amazing autoimmune 🦄) #113

Looking good. It is really hard to kick the late night snacking. Even now as I write this I am thinking about making a chia pudding :yum:.

(Running from stupidity) #114

That’s fine. Nothing wrong with that. Thinking is awesome!

However, if you actually make it, you just can’t EAT it until tomorrow

This always reminds me of the movie “The Jerk” with Steve Martin. At one point he plays a carnival worker explaining which gifts a player was eligible to win:

The Jerk

Thank you everyone!

Weighed in today.

Gained a pound.

Hmmm.
Quick review of my eating for the week: Nothing stands out.
Quick review of my fasted BG readings: Nothing stands out.

So why did I gain? Beats the
shit
outta me. I suppose could freak out and think I’ve done something wrong or that I’m slipping up. But I won’t.

Don’t get me wrong. I
friggin’
hate the fact a week’s worth of potential weight loss has eluded me, but as I’ve said before: This just shows how metabolically deranged I am.

So… I came home from my weigh-in, made myself 4 pieces of fatty (aka ‘streaky’) bacon, scrambled 2 eggs in butter, and poured myself a big cup of black-as-night java and ate.

See ya next week.

By the way, I weighed in at 389.
That’s still down 106 lbs in 5 months. On Saturday I walked a mile and a half each way from a distant parking space and the Veteran’s Day parade in a nearby town. A walk that I would have balked at in May. I didn’t feel winded, break a sweat, or mind standing for 2-1/2 hours as the parade passed.

Up a pound? No biggie.

I know it’s frustrating, but I would say this is way better than losing a few pounds.

I’m proud of you, Don. This is a great update. :+1:

(Running from stupidity) #119

Indeed.

EXactly. Weight takes a while to accumulate, it takes a while to go away. You are doing a terrific job. Hope you are also taking pics and measurements, at some point your going to want to kick the scale to the moon in frustration, but the other tools help you get over those moments. KCKO my friend.
