I will be honest. Refeeds after extended fasting are starting to spook me a little because I always end up with bathroom issues. It is difficult to get in good healthy foods with decent calories when you know it’s going to upset your stomach. I am going to refeed tomorrow with broccoli soup and nuts. Hopefully that will be kinder to my stomach. Tuna and crab and maybe salmon but no heavy meat.
December IF/EF chat - all welcome!
I think every ones systems are different. For me PORK is a big NO NO after a fast. It just literally goes right through me.
Fast is going well. Past my 36 hrs.
Feeling great so going to ride this til I feel I need to eat.

Started fasting consistently on 10/15, here’s the last 2 months of progress.
Definitely trending down but I’m having a really hard time breaking into the 130’s. I tend to gain back several pounds when I break the fast.
It’s interesting you all are having bathroom issues - I still have the opposite issue no mater how much fiber I eat, but am going to start adding chia seeds in. Has anyone does this WHILE fasting? I forgot to have some on my refeed day.
Last 7 days: (I ate fasted 4 days and ate on 3 of these 7):
I’m currently having an “interesting” debate with the admin on a Facebook group who announced that in her opinion IF is disordered eating…
Normally I wouldn’t bother arguing with such a small minded person, but the comment was aimed at me specifically and every argument she has tried to use is so factually flawed that it makes responding easy.
Exhausting to have to explain this stuff, but hopefully you get your facts through. I know when I first heard Fung talk about fasting I was like WTF LOL but when I studied it, I got it and now it’s a nice weapon in my arsenal against Insulin Resistance!
So after breaking my 70 hour fast I am down 3 or 4 pounds into the 160s which is BLOWING MY MIND yay! But more importantly, I went down a belt notch!! I don’t know if I’ll extended fast any more this month, I will continue to IF on an irregular schedule to keep my metabolism guessing. I plan to start exercising in the new year, see if I can gain some strength and toning.
Before I went full on Keto, I did Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred part one every other day for an entire year, I got nice and strong. I didn’t lose a single pound, of course, we know why. But I miss that badass feeling of completing a tough workout. And I’m so curious how it will feel to do it 45 pounds lighter with almost no aches and pains!!
I’m the same way, all or nothing, as Gretchen Rubin says, we are abstainer personalities.
Yes! I need to look into her writing. Heard her mentioned on Daisy’s premier Keto Women podcast and got interested.
It takes me time to get used to an idea but once I decide to let something go I never go back. So far I have broken every addictive issue I’ve faced save one (not food related). This last one’s the hardest and I am still searching for solutions but I am dogged, determined, and I will not stop until I break its 30 year hold on me!
I am 38 hours in an impromptu fast (targeting 72 hours). The max has been 48 for me and I hear it gets easier, so here we are
I’m doing a modified fast, basically one bullet proof coffee in the morning, lots of minerals in forms of salt etc throughout the day, and last night my hunger wouldn’t go away so I had one tablespoon of salted butter.
No issues falling sleep but wok up around 4am to use the restroom which I usually do and had a hard time going back to sleep for about 30 mins.
2nd day (today) feeling good so far, sipping on my bulletproof and Pellegrino, taking vit C, iodine, vit D and some other supplements .
I’m planning to push through till Friday night and break my record, we’ll see how tonight goes.
I’m also invited to a white elephant Christmas party tonight, wondering if going there will distract me and I’ll just come home to go to bed.
Good luck to all the fasters.
Great job!
Chia seeds tend to throw me out of ketosis, I know Megan Ramos talked about taking them while fasting, but I think I’ll wait till reefed.
Wishing you luck on pushing past your previous longest fast! I find day two the hardest. Day three I get sort of intense and active, like, cleaning the basement hyper lol. Will be curious how you feel. I also have a little fat in my morning coffee when I fast. I understand Fung/Ramos consider that “fasting training wheels” but that’s fine with me! It’s less than 200 calories and it gets me through the fast which I believe is more important.
In the past I’ve had the issue with EF interrupting my sleep. This last time, my 3rd or 4th 70 hour fast, I slept solid. So I hope that means it’s something that improves over time. Because when I’m fasting I want to sleep through as many of the hours as I can lol!
Cheering you on!
Great progress. I’m planning on working out again too. Since I started keto I wanted to give myself time to adjust and be a fat burner and I stopped lifting. Its time to get back.
Sadly I think this person is too shortsighted to beyond her own opinion, but I’m hopeful the discussion will help educate others who read it.
