Christmas Drink

(Marianne) #1

I came across this recipe today for a very low carb Christmas drink (or anytime), and thought I’d share it for anyone interested. Looks delicious and keto friendly. Going to try it today.

Low Carb Vodka Rumchata

• 1 oz vodka, more if you prefer
• 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
• 2 Tbs heavy cream
• 1/4 tsp vanilla
• 1/4 tsp cinnamon
• 1/4 tsp fresh grated nutmeg
• vanilla stevia to taste or sweetener of your choice

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender and mix on high for a few seconds.
  2. Serve over ice (I prefer my drinks room temp).
  3. Sip and enjoy!

cals 190 / 13.5g fat / 1.3g carbs / 0.7g fiber / 0.6g protein - 0.6 net carbs

Thanks, Marrianne. I copied it for my recipe folder on desktop for New Year’s Eve =).

Agreed, thanks @gingersmommy. I am also copying this to my folders for the future when I want to reward myself. Sounds so good!

HI Ely and @Momof5, I am going to make it this afternoon. Will let you know how it is. I’m expecting it to be delicious because it has everything I like.

If we don’t hear from you we will know that it was extra good.

I copied your recipe (crediting it to you of course)
on my accountability thread. I want all the forum to really notice it, it looks lovely for the holidays.

Hi Susan,

Thank you - it was very good. One of those drinks that goes down like a milkshake and then gives you that warm glow. I prefer it room temp to chilled.

I think next batch I will use a spiced rum (Captain Morgan) instead of vodka. The vodka doesn’t really add anything, other than alcohol, and Captain Morgan has almost no carbs as well. Another tip, next time I won’t put it in a blender. The heavy cream causes it to have a very thick layer of whipped cream at the top - fine if you like that, otherwise, just put it in a pitcher and stir to mix. I bet it might be good with a little cocoa or maybe a tiny bit of peppermint.

Happy Holidays! :christmas_tree: :santa:

I am not going to a store again until Jan 10th and I have Vodka in the house, so I will be using that =). I was thinking of using a can of Coconut Milk instead of he almond milk too, we’ll see =). Thanks =).

Just remember the lighter the alcoholic beverage, the lower the carb count, especially true with the hard liquours like rums, whiskey, etc.

This sounds perfect for the holidays, thanks for sharing

So another fun afternoon? My daughter thinks the drink sounds wonderful too. We’re sitting here reading this thread wondering if we should go buy some rum. Mmmmm!

(Marianne) #12

I googled carbs for Captain Morgan and it said .4 carbs per 1.5 oz. Are there other hidden carbs?

(Marianne) #13

I made another batch this afternoon with Captain - it was very good. If you use vodka, I’d add a little more cinnamon.

(Ellen ) #14

You’re so funny Marianne. We’re definitely going to try this in the future…soon. I bet you’re fun to spend an afternoon with. Keep testing. My daughter and I are following you!

Instead of Cap’n Morgan, I wonder how it would be if you steeped bits of whole nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon in the rum, then mixed it together?

Sorry no idea, I only drink wines, vodka, and gins, so no rum in the house.

Just checked out getdrunknotfat.com It says .4 carbs there, so enjoy.

The name of that site is hilarious =) but nice to have bookmarked (which I did), thanks =).

(Mame) #18

I’ll be having some spiked egg nog. I love nog and it’s easy to make keto!

(Marianne) #19

What can I say - I love boozy drinks, and afternoons - it’s the holidays from now until next Thursday, so we all get a pass to indulge. Cheers!

Love this!

I may make me some fake Baileys Irish Creme, too.
