Howdy,
I am familiar with “dawn phenomenon,” when blood sugar rises in the morning.
In fact, I see large blood sugar swings of around 40-50 points in the morning.
In the evenings, my blood sugar is typically around 105-110. This is about three hours into my daily intermittent fast (after my last food for the day).
Then in the morning, usually at 7:00 AM, after having fasted for 12 hours. My blood sugar is fairly consistently around 150.
I guess my question is if this is “normal” and which readings “count?” I don’t think I’ll be satisfied until my highest reading is below 100. Is this realistic?
What might I be doing to exacerbate my blood sugar dawn phenomenon in the mornings?
FYI: I am doing 17/7 intermittent fasting every day. I am also eating ketogenic, never exceeding 20 grams of non fiber carbs per day. I am a self-diagnosed type 2 diabetic, taking no medications whatsoever. I have been eating/fasting like this for four weeks now.
Thank you for sharing your experience and advice on this,
