August-Palooza!

food yesterday was

1 lb. ribeye steak and OMG it was so tender and great. I hit one of those over the top wonderful steaks.

1/2 lb shrimp

2 beef tenderloin steaks that were fab!

1 tin of sardines

Cruising along on zc. Aug is disappearing and we are heading into Sept. ZC ON everyone!!

Going well, tomorrow is the end of my first week zc…well ish! I have to own up to a small piece of blue cheese on top of my steak last night, only 15g so I am pretty happy that this is my first dairy free week.
No major cravings, expect for salted butter…lol
Today is bacon, roast pork and some lambs liver fried in lovely bacon fat.
Tonorrow I will weigh in to see if any progress in that way but I feel less bloated and have had a couple of better nights so all in all a good week.

Hope everyone having a good weekened :+1::handshake:

Spoke too soon about side effects of carnivore diet having gone.

Woke at 2:30am with a heart rate of about 130. Took 7 hours, 1200mg magnesium citrate, two cups of very salty bone broth, and finally 10mg of propranolol - a beta blocker to correct it back to 60bpm. But that’s a night’s sleep I won’t get back.

I understand that it is not directly related to zero carb eating. As in it is a consequence for every or any practitioner. But, rather, a consequence of my body readjusting. Hippies like to term it detoxing.

In my case, on reflection, I noted other subtle signs: a few days of pain under my right foot, gritty eyes, cloudy urine, occasional sharp pin prick pain in fingers and toes, and a sudden build up of dental calculus despite brushing and flossing twice daily.

I’ll note the experience here in case anyone has had similar. This last happened to me one month ago. From what I understand I might experience similar events over a duration of 24 to 36 months.

You are doing wonderful. Alot of crazy and new great changes are coming your way, just work thru them, take the great and celebrate, when the weirdo changes come down on ya, and they might not, we can always help you thru them

Loved your post!!!

your dairy free tackle is cool in that a little blue is no big deal and if you did ok and enjoyed the heck out of it, you did fab!!

I know I have a dairy limit in my day. I use very little cheese and only days I require cheese but if I ‘cheese up’ I can easily pay the price but I get it, I know me, I deal and enjoy so it works all for me and never against me.

You are finding you on the zc plan and that is the smartest way to roll with zc. Strong people want to know how they deal with food in their lives and the zc plan gives us that walk between dairy and only fresh meat/seafood meals so you keep on truckin’ thru and learning you!!

#305

So sorry FB!!! I know there is more going on and I love the fact you don’t directly relate this change to zc and you give it true thought on it all.

I only wish you the best at all times!!

But one thing I am reading is you are becoming ‘very adapt’ at knowing ‘you’ and you are seeing some signs of what might come and realize it, then you know what it takes to correct it and while all scary and tough to deal with…you do for you at all times and get thru some episodes!!!

Thing is FB and the hardest darn thing to hear is some take years to correct their bodies and make it work for them if ‘true med issues’ come into play before they hit zc and if one holds plan, tighter than a …, LOL, then you can work thru things and again, find a better you and health situation.

My only and best advice. Go super basic. Lion Diet. The true strict carnivore. Don’t do spices at all. Don’t buy processed anything, all fresh meat/seafood/fish at all times. Don’t do dairy. Don’t do ‘a tiny bit of seaweed or whatever fruit hits your fancy’ cause I would say…we got Sept coming and I think an all in ‘total elimination’ menu could be key for you to start this new you and see where you do best.

For a Sept challenge for you we all got your back here and that will never change ever and I will be eating the same way right along with you.

just suggestions LOL cause I know you ain’t no newbie but in the end, we truly can get those signs coming and healing thru it all on an extremely personal level and we can reverse, change and more but at some times in life we will have to deal with things from med issues.

I am luckily one who went into this in full great health and my changes have been super stellar over ‘what I thought was good health’ ya know but I never had those ‘other med issues’ involved so this is more highly personal to you and your experiences. I can’t go there with ya :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: and always sending the best of the best to you FB cause you are one fine dude!!!

Despite the excitement of heart palpitations. We have reached the last day of August and the final day of winter here. Winter is the best tie to go carnivore, I think.

Waist measure sees another half inch disappeared. What a waist!

Thanks for all you great coaching and support @Fangs

I might take up the challenge for September to attempt a proper carnivore 30-day trial.

Will you call it “Slaptember!”? Time to wake up to better nutrition health. Maybe we can combine it with “Sleeptember”, where we go carni and aim for 8 hrs of restful sleep every night?

#307

Carnivore 24/7, 365 is best HAHA

Another 1/2 inch gone FB! That is wonderful! A natural lean mean body for a very natural eating plan, gotta love it!!

I would love you coming into Sept and going all in with carnivore and doing a good, strict one and see what it does for you!! Heck you got it darn near down pat now so…I think it would be a very good experiment on ya to commit in and go for it. I will be right there along side of you!

How is Billie doing? Growing like a weed I bet!! Any Billie pics you post wouldn’t be wrong ya know, I love seeing Billie enjoying life and so darn cute too!

Last day of August. Holy cow I can now say Aug flew by to me. Seemed like a longer month and then whammo, it disappears.

Everyone type up a little report on how August went for you!!

I was lucky I held my 3.25 lbs. lost for August. Never got anymore off thru the rest of the month, lost most of that early on, but I am cool with that as always.
Pants/shorts are looser and getting more baggy by the day. love that
Feeling wonderful. Feeling very alive. I can’t say enough how ZC suits me so well.

You know I wrote earlier that I hit some type of ‘deep feeling reset’ in my body and I never could put real description to it, but that is around when my lbs. dropped mostly so I am assuming something clicked good inside my body and ‘healed more’ or ???, I don’t know truly…but I still feel very well. I got a good deep down calm and controlled feeling that is ‘very healthy feeling’, but then again what could all that be in the end as a total for me? I don’t know, I ain’t caring about it either in that I want it, I like it, it does me well and all is good so I will take any and all good healing feelings from ZC I can get LOL

Sept will be fun as heck! I am looking forward to holding a strict zc plan.

I like the monthly challenges. They are a shorter focus for us to change ourselves a bit, experiment a tad on us and work thru any kinks and fine tune us feeling even more healthy!

So everyone chat how they feel and how they are doing on ZC and what was accomplished in Aug for you personally. I love reading how well everyone is doing :sunny:

yesterday was
1 lb. ribeye steak…got another delish good tender one!
2 hamburger patties…see no cheese on these bad boys and I did miss it a little but I woofed them down so fast, heck I really didn’t have time to really miss that bit of cheese HAHA
1 tin of sardines
1 chicken thigh hubby made on the grill for his dinner, I snatched one.

today I got steak for both meals. Will pair up with some shrimp.

easy peasy--------SEPTEMBER HERE WE COME!

(Liz) #309

Brilliant idea! I am just at the end of my first carni week. Seen some downward movement on the scales that had ben stuck and less bloating and more restful sleep already…though still not enough!
Great results on your waist and hope those heart palpitations have gone :+1::handshake:

This month of zero carb, I have lost 7 pounds and 7 1/2 inches. I have learned that dairy is a trigger for my eczema. I am feeling great on zero carb and looking forward to September. I have added back eggs and will try a zero carb cake for my birthday this month. Thank you for all your support in August and see you all on the September thread.

Billie looks a lot like my dog a black labrador from a gundog breed. I think they are simply the best :paw_prints::heart:

Since returning to the ZC WOE I have lost 8.8 pounds and I am back in the weight range I was in before lockdown hit.

Planning to lose, maybe, another 10lbs to get to what I think will be my natural weight.

Most importantly, I am feeling well.

Such a nice shiny coat!

#314

OMG we are such a small group here handling zero carb but I am over the moon on all your posts, I am super thrilled to be reading just how great Aug has been treating each of you!

I am truly just thrilled to read all this from ya’ll!! :sunny:

this is over the top great and super congrats!!! I also am looking forward to Sept…together we got this! All in and reap the benefits!! Inspiring post KP!

WOW and another wow on this…feeling great is key isn’t it? It tops all the other ‘dieting baggage and thoughts’ and just puts life so into a natural realm…all good things do come to us if we hold zc and give it time but BAM!..8.8 and back to a healthy range where you want to be and close to goal and you are doing OH SO fine!!! Happy for you!

THANKS FB!!! that is one cute pic of one nice pooch! I know that will be a lean mean meat eating machine as she ages, not the fat chunky out of shape doggies that are nailed with grain food in their lives…your lovely pooch will love you for just that!!! Too damn cute

Guys we are on our way to Sept and going all in and everyone think what their ‘focus will be about zc and me’ thru Sept!!

You all got me pumped heading into Sept. cause we will change and grow all for the better…too darn cool!!

(Laurie) #315

Thank you all for letting me hang out with you for a while. Thanks also for the info on what carnivore really means.

At this point I can’t commit to this diet. I’m a senior and using a shared kitchen during Covid times, so food prep is a challenge. I buy a lot of precooked and packaged meats. I buy the best and most unadulterated I can, but some additives get in there, or it isn’t grass fed, or whatever…

Psychologically as well, I’m not sure I could do it. I need a plan I can stick with for the long haul. If I stray slightly, I’ll feel like a failure and give up.

Good luck in September!

#316

Ahhhh it literally is ok if zc plan doesn’t fit in just yet for you and it might never, you just find your best plan and always make it suit you.

That is all any of us can do!

With us on Zero Carb/Carnivore we won’t and don’t want to eat plant veg and we have convictions and science behind what we do but nature at our time in our lives also pointed us here, if you are not here at all or don’t need to be that is super cool too!!

I know you got a bright light in you islandlight that will shine thru and give you what you need to make it all work for you at all times, just throw some time into what you need and make it all about you and bob and weave thru it all and ya got this!!!

oh and there are master experts about Keto Plan on this forum to help you along the way when ya drop zc and go that way. They are so good at helping those people along newer to Keto and needing assistance!! You are still in a great forum for sure!

#317

I stopped my attempts too but I surely will have carni days and I have serious plans for winter where carnivore is possible for me as I have no fruit seasons (just because I don’t need or particularly fruits I can’t not eat them when I have them and I don’t have a very good reason not to anyway).
I get meat until then.

But my keto/low-carb probably never will be the same as before. My woe permanently changed and now things fluctuate and search for some balance, it will calm down in the near future, I presume. I don’t force anything, no need, I keep changing anyway. My mind and body has things to work with and these inevitably shift my behavior even if I am not strict, I had that before with keto. My basic attitude changed, I don’t use a lot of keto-friendly but not carnivore stuff I used before… I still have no idea what my woe will be eventually but I will have carni days and probably weeks but I plan a longer time too. Because it’s easy and I don’t miss anything during such a short time, normally (if I have enough good meat but I can get it if the farm will be back and doesn’t even raise prices as it did with the roosters, it was quite severe. last year I bought small amounts as I just tried them out but now I know what I want and even with a little freezer, there are options: making a big stew/roast right away, canning meat but I never did that)…

Now I stopped the troublesome tracking too, I do low-carb and we will see. My main dishes and snacks will be mostly carnivore as usual. The carnivore versions of some of my fav dishes are better than the keto or “normal” ones anyway… Even Alvaro’s pancakes have almost zero plant matter in them - until he fills them, at least. I dislike making different stuff for him when my version is superior and not even expensive.

I probably can’t stop myself to try carni days in the very near future, it’s a bit addictive…

(Edith) #318

I just spoke to my hubby to let him know of my plan. I am on for the September challenge.

#319

wow you are gonna go all in and go for it…very cool. We will all be doing zc right along with ya and we will have a great thread rolling for support~! Happy you are on board :sunny:

#320

hmm, you got me wondering on this one cause isn’t pancakes just some type of flour, like all plants? What are you guys making here?
just curious
