August Fat Burnin'

(Doug) #61

Darcy, to me, alcohol seems quite straightforward, here, i.e. it gets priority processing, so the liver/body indeed stops or slows the ketone production for a while.

In reading the first few posts at that webpage you gave the link to, it’s mentioned that it may take time for Metformin to build up in the system, and/or that people had to increase the dosage in order to get into ketosis. That seems strange to me - if the concern is Metformin preventing or reducing ketosis, i.e. lesser amounts of Metformin kick people out of ketosis but larger amounts let them back in? Seems complicated and counter-intuitive to me. Yet I guess stranger things have happened…?

I’ll be doing a 4-5 day fast starting Saturday or Sunday after I return from a brief trip.

#63

Yes, and it doesn’t help clarify things that everyone is different and affected in different ways. It seems to keep coming back to N=1.

#64

I did see Megan’s talk, thanks for the reminder re: two 90 min eating windows. I think I’ll try that out as well. Changing it up is good, as long as you keep it Keto.

(Jim Russell) #65

Thanks @irishred I’m 62 hours and going pretty smoothly. Woke up last night and could not stop thinking about food. Finally fell back to sleep and I’ve been much better this morning.

Just broke my 74 hr fast with 4 eggs scrambled in bacon nectar :bacon::fried_egg:

Now the egg fast begins.

(Jim Russell) #67

Broke my fast at about 67 hours. About a day shorter than I planned, but it was starting to feel more and more like a struggle.

Made myself a sausage and cheddar omelet topped with guacamole. Yum.

Migorstmarseille, I find the experiences of fasting fun. I am so aware of all of the phases that my body is experiencing. I don’t always know why they are happening, but I am never worried. The human body is so cool. Given the right supports it has incredible ability to heal and adapt. Keto/if are great examples of supports that allow the body to do what it does best. If only I would just listen and quit falling in with the evil voice whispering in my ear…really one chocolate chip cookie won’t cause any problem. You sound like the week is building your strength and that is super cool.

#69

Jeremy, you have got this 72 hours by the neck and shaking it! And those eggs are lining themselves up just waiting to be called to action. How do you usually fix them?

(Jeremy Storie) #70

My all time favorite way is to scramble them in bacon nectar with a good amount of salt. I will eat some egg salad in the next few days as well. I usually don’t fry eggs when I’m doing a fast because you can’t get the fat to incorporate unless you just lob some mayo on top.

#71

Darcy,
Did Megan talk about the timing of those two 90 minute Windows? They continue to modify their approaches. Just when you think you might have a handle you hear new twists. We are lucky to be able to “peek” or “easedrop” into the great work they are doing in their practice.

#72

Well she uses the 2 90-min thing herself, and doesn’t eat breakfast. Ok at 25 min or so into the video she says they have 16 hours of fasting even on eating days. So, 8 hours to fit in the 2 90 minute windows. Could be 3 60 minute windows but they shoot for the 2.

#73

Charmaine,
I will have to do the royal bows in honor of your strength and determination. How do you power through fasting on the weekend? I can do Sunday, but Saturday is part of my happy time when I do fun things with my family. I don’t mind eating Me to but I do want to eat. You are a super godess!

#74

Funny how the mind just has to entertain itself in the middle of the night usually at our expense. Stay strong!

#75

Jeremy looking at that plate makes me think I could do an egg fast…at least for a meal or two.

(Jeremy Storie) #76

I love eggs! I usually scramble me up some on most days even when I’m not doing a fast. I never get tired of them but do wish for something to go with it by the end of my fast. I could probably live off of them

(Doug) #77

I eat the hell out of eggs!

(Doug) #78

Jim, that food sounds so good that it makes me light-headed. Excellent beginning you have this month.

(migorstmarseille) #79

As I write this, I’m sitting at a steak restaurant with my family, as that’s what they wanted tonight. I’m oddly not tempted, but the woman who brought the food asked why I hadn’t ordered and I gave some half baked excuse along the lines of “oh, I already ate”.

Good morning to all of you! Thursday August 3rd here in Illinois and beautiful out. Well I ended up eating lunch and supper yesterday. For some reason my gi tract went on a rampage yesterday and I decided to just eat keto. Small salad with ham and salami for lunch and pan fried tilapia with butter and a serving of macadamia nuts for supper. Ended day with acv. My bg was down lower and my ketones are going up. So back to my Thursday regular day of fasting. Hope you all have a great day whether you are fasting or feasting, but burning up the fat!
