Anyone have a good use for bacon fat?

Bacon fat is shelf stable so I’d guess yes?

I’m not giving birds my bacon or bacon grease! LOL

Heh, I get that. I have so much that I’ll donate some to the feather folks.

Why don’t just eat it? Fry your bacon and eggs and pour the fat over.
I love to scoop up salty baconfat with cucumber.
I never get bacon fat left over.
I always fry my bacon first, so I have nice salty fat to scramble eggs or scrambled pancakes or sunny eggs. When making scrambled eggs/scrambled pancakes all fat get sucked up and your skillet is clean😍
I fry bacon on medium heat, if you use too high heat, much of the fat ends up in the skillet, using lower heat and more fat remains in the bacon. I never add fat when frying bacon, no need to.

It’s also a good candle fuel for homemade candles during an unplanned crisis situation. twine or paper towels make adequate wicks for the oil in jars or bowls. Makes your house smell slightly bacony too.
Otherwise, like everyone alse advises… consume it in some way.

Brussels sprouts are good fried in butter.

Good for you!!! I love birds and wildlife. Had a fox screaming outside our window last night and it was totally creepy - but so cool!

I am too covetous of our bacon fat to make these babies some homemade suit.

Fry your sauerkraut in bacon grease as a side dish.

It is delicious poured on top of a salad (bit of romaine, tons of bacon chopped up, some ham, some salami, and some bacon grease, and a pickle chopped up, yummy.

I am loving it lately on steamed brussel sprouts. So delicious.

My son made chocolate chip cookies using bacon fat instead of butter. Delicious! It wasn’t keto, but it certainly could be if you use Lily’s chocolate chips or similar.

I use it to fry Brussels sprouts, or anything else I’m sauteing.

I’ve been experimenting with bacon fat all year. As near as I can tell, the highest and best use for bacon fat is in pulled pork.

When I smoke a pork shoulder on the grill, I put 3 lbs of bacon “ends and pieces” in the oven as well. Pull the pork, chop up the bacon and pour the bacon bits and fat into the pulled pork. I lack the words to even express how good it is.

It has replaced both sausage and bacon on my breakfast table and since pork shoulder is $1/lb, it’s easy on the wallet as well. I’m terrified to put it between two chaffles, because that would probably be the only way I could gain weight on keto… :yum:

I dare you to try it.

I am using it in place of olive oil in lots of recipes. Works for mayos, salad dressings, sauteing brussels sprouts, just about any where you’d put EVOO, bacon fat works.
