Another Carnivore Thread

I just have two things to say about that video. 1. If you change the speed to 1.25 in the settings you can add minutes to your day. 2. I’m typing in a tank top with the windows open on this 65 degree day in mid winter.

I’m not saying ANYTHING about global warming, just making observations.

Ok a lot of chat on the board I have to address LOL
so in bits

No. What you said does not apply to carnivore. Point blank.
Carnivore is not this way. All I can say is learn carnivore. I know we got some ‘eating other stuff’ people on the board. So I will give a true and hardcore carnivore answer here. I won’t fluff a thing as all carnivores know this and learn this info. from our plans, theories, beliefs, science facts and more.

Not one person on the planet knows what their body thinks. We pretend we do, but we don’t. So all this BMR and other facts about kcals is ALL ABOUT eating a diversified plan. How to control your weight thru manipulation. This does not exist on carnivore.

It is hard to throw it all out…all the diet baggage we learn thru life when most is not real in any hard core facts or science. But carnivores learn it and thrive on it.

Dr Ken Berry on why calories are stupid:

This is old school diet baggage. Carnivore is not this. Carnivore in true form is eat all the damn food you want at all times. There is no restricting. ONCE you put in time doing only this…eat all you want, your body and appetite will change. It will ask only hunger as it requires it. The cravings in the body stop, but nice thing is if you 'see food, smell bad food and want it, your clear mind can confront it easier and not delve into the crap food. Control of junk foods comes with time on plan and the body being nourished where it can more easily combat those type of emotions. If it wants more food you eat more meat, if it wants less you eat less.

If coffee you know is a trigger than you drink no coffee for a while. More ‘lax’ carnivores allow coffee IF it does not mess them up, a purist carnivore drops coffee for the reasons you mentioned. They feel coffee makes troubles for them so they drop it and might experiment later if they can add it back. So personal experiment here for each person.

Funny thing carnivore has no rules at all other than eat all the meat and seafood and ‘some dairy’ (personal use on that as we know we are all so diff. on dairy) and nothing else.

I would think one who avoids overcomplications and too many rules would thrive on the thought of carnivore having none of that. Cause it doesn’t

I am not sure we are on that same page in a way. Like we kinda agree but are hitting little sciences here and old diet baggage in our brains and I am past that on carnivore but you are new to it and not accepting what the true carnivore plan is all about? In that it follows some theory, belief, hardcore science facts and more and is a real plan that if we walk a bit away from it can easily mean more physical body trouble. But then we throw emotional eating and physiciological wants and more into it while we change into this plan, yea we alll have to fight thru adaption and detox etc. Which effects us all different.

One thing. Read the carnivore stuff on this site. Carnivore is a plan. Reasons we do what we do. Why calories never matter, and won’t ever. So it has to be a thought split for emotion change overs and what we battle and that change why we go carnivore and if stay hardcore carnivore we get those benefits. But no 2 people will ever be the same so the keep the faith to the plan is very important.

this is a fab chat!! I always love talking it out and learning this and that so this is fun and good for this thread.

Been in the 50’s here in Michigan which isn’t normal in December! I enjoy the warmer weather so I can walk my dogs, but also very strange

(squirrel-kissing paper tamer) #965

I pulled up to the house yesterday and made a face at my leaf covered, ugly front garden and then I noticed three of my annuals are popping their heads up and making plants. Little dummies, they’re going to die again by March when it seems like we get winter here, instead of November like we used to. (Northern Kentucky)

LOL

Gore…most of his all in financials were in global correct biz for the climate…green companies. Talk about politics being used for personal gain LOL come on…a 14 yr old while passionate, and I get it all truly from that point, cause I been there, best learn real life and science!

good vid!!

(Ashley) #967

January is usually our really cold month, but usually by now we sit in the late 20’s to mid 30’s! I’m enjoying the warmth, but def out of the ordinary! Have seen some critters on the trails that are normally hiding by now!

(squirrel-kissing paper tamer) #968

I’m pretty happy my released squirrels (even though they have their winter coats on) are frolicking all day and still doing autumn stuff (burying the nuts I give them) instead of poking their heads out of their dreys with pitiful looks on their faces. I always wonder how they get around a tree covered in ice, or if they just have to wait for it to melt.

(Ashley) #969

Yep squirrels here are also still doing same type of stuff! I see them on the trails everyday! We have some that antagonize my dog cause they know their quicker so when I release him off the leash they will come in close to him and tease him :joy:

If you eat hardcore carnivore then we have a chat. If you eat Keto and chatting on a carnivore thread then we got a problem LOL in that if you are not a hardcore carnivore then none of what the benefits are of this plan, the science truths that back it up and real life experiences mean nothing.

Thing is…a hardcore carnivore eating only meat and fat and seafood and some dairy will never be a ‘keto eater’ and have the ‘overeating myths and implications’ if one does not KNOW and FOLLOW the carnivore benefits and truths of being on this plan.

So I get the passion of it. I get the LC and off the plan and struggle. I get the Keto meet my macros and off plan and I have bad times. I get it all cause I did it all.

Carnivore is not that. You eat NOTHING but meat/seafood and some dairy and drop all you are not wanting to eat like plants and frankenfoods etc. then you find your life in a whole new realm of reality. Carnivores are in a whole new zone someone will never understand ever. Unless you walk the walk!!

It gets confusing when we chat those who do it and follow it and those who pretend to follow it but go in and out of plan. Will never be the same ever. And when a hardcore carnivore says this we mean it. Do the walk or don’t pretend you know. I mean that respectfully LOL in that you can never overeat on carnivore. It is not a thing ever.

See above why kcals are stupid. If one eats only carnivore overeating and kcals mean nada, nothing, nor will ever mean anthing

#971

We got plant flowers and squirrel chat…wrong thread maybe? or we gonna eat those squirrels and love the beauty of the flowers on our dinner table

HA HA too funny, love it

(Full Metal KETO AF) #972

I’m very familiar with the Berry video, I have posted it myself several times. My point was overeating had nothing to do with calories, just ignoring the full signals for a few more bites. You seem to be able to accept that you can’t overeat in any circumstance on carnivore but if you feel uncomfortable after eating I would say you overdid it. For me that happens before I am stuffed to the gills. I feel much better 80% full and still able to move. And you didn’t address my question about late night eating. :cowboy_hat_face:

#973

ahhh that is where we differ.

one can eat til full. carnivore IS can you take the next bite or are you SO full you can’t. feel a bit miserable eating all that steak?

darn right you should be!!! that is the nutrition your body requires.

IF ONE IS A carnivore. If you dally in other foods off plan than I can’t comment or put any cement to it.

But if you are carnivore, all in, then you eat darn straight til you can’t eat no more and you might feel uncomfortable cause you pushed that stomach to the max………but you will NEVER be wrong for that.

Your physical body won’t ever make you wrong for that.
You won’t up weight cause of water to carb ration and all that BS.
You won’t eat ‘any time soon’ cause you are still needing nourishment.
You won’t think you are ‘now starving’ any time soon cause your body will not ask for food for a long time, hence giving you a 'very very natural long term fasting. The “I won’t eat food” scenario ‘under any circumstances to my hunger’ on any given day is crazy if one is hungry. IF is forced, as in a manipulative control of your body which many thinks works but finds themselves starving thru this restriction they put on themselves. Eating til super full is not forced fasting. You just don’t wanna eat til you wanna eat again. Carnivore plus here  We get all those forced IF people who are starving and won’t eat, but we eat til full and maybe push in that last bit of food to feel ‘over full’ but we never eat again til we require it truly cause our stomachs can’t accept it. Hence, real ife natural all in fasting til we need to eat again.

OH yes, there is a ‘stop clause in there’ definitely David.
I get that. We all know when we eat eat eat and then the lag. That can I eat more. Do I need to eat more? Another bite of steak or can I not do it?

for me it is just wait a minute. I eat almost 1 lb of a 1.5 steak and am feeling full but my mind said before I was starving so eat? yea I eat and eat and then say, give it a sec…yea I put .5 amt of ribeye in the fridge for later. I mean this is intuitive for sure. It ain’t a forced eating plan to go way past comfortable but it will never be a ‘limit your food’ cause ‘you think you should’ well before you might be full. That would be kinda one of those common knowledge, put it in smart play kinda deals here.

Late night eating on carnivore means nothing.

Now…it is 1000% on how you live. You do night shift, you eat your day.

You want a steak at midnight and are starving, you darn right eat it.

But you won’t sleep great right after but that again means nothing. No one for any reason on the planet can sleep well with food in their guts needing to process.

Thing is if one just eats when they need it on carnivore you will never be wrong.

a very very very hard concept to come from when one goes down that carb ladeder, into lc, extreme lc and into keto controlled macros and more.

carnivore is a whole new…drop the darn baggage we thought we knew but are scared to drop. A carnivore who goes into this with new and total abandon to accept the plan for what it is and commits finds new life that one who never does and delves into it but never does it true will never ever get what we do. Carnivores know this but unless it is experience thru one’s self it won’t happen. One will never know or ‘get it’

Oh yes. Vegetables often take a lot of time and in the end, they just make me hungrier… And a mountain of it disappears too quickly, especially if I use low-carb vegetables and not legumes. I prefer dense food.
But there are better and worse vegetables regarding work when we prepare them and it’s good we can buy frozen, cleaned and cut vegetables, canned ones too (I only use my own canned ones though, that’s helpful too).

I am a selfish, lazy one (it’s factual, I don’t mean it particularly negatively, I consider both positive if they aren’t too strong. unfortunately, my laziness is huge but even so, it has benefits) who gets creative if needed so I stopped making vegetable dishes. Sometimes I cook split peas (almost no work and there’s some basic lunch for 3 days, I just need to add something I eat too), sometimes my SO cooks vegetable rich food and we eat raw vegetables. It’s simple enough. I used to cook vegetable dishes every day, my fridge was full with various vegetables but nowadays… One vegetable dish per week and it’s usually just a soup with very little vegetables and lots of poached eggs. It’s good my SO isn’t choosy and can cook (carby stuff, mostly. If it’s beef soup, he adds potatoes and lots of carrots, no way around that. Okay, only one potato because I did my best in the last years to change his ways and was successful). But he can cook for himself sometimes, it helps. I don’t cook complicated dishes I don’t even eat. 3 minutes work is fine (grains, split peas). I don’t mind baking bread and cakes so that’s okay as well but that’s it.

Warmer periods are not new. There was a pretty big one in the Middle Ages… loooong before industrialization.

#976

agree a million percent.
the total population is to be coddled, controlled thru financial and media beliefs and way more. Don’t think for one second ‘‘they’’ who control are out to help us all LOL

what can one do. Live as we believe. Put maybe some of our life out there in speech and action, do what we can as we see fit and live our lives with intent to ‘live a life’ cause if we give all to what ifs and more… can we say we don’t have no regrets in the end? Nope, balance of your personal life is key. From action to enjoyment cause that nano-second of time we have in our short life span should be balanced. When off balance we find tons of regret. Can we truly every control the planet. Nope. Can we say what will happen 450 yrs from now. Nope. So be smart, do your thing, as you need and be sure to take care of you and yours in this small segment of time.

fine balance of it all I what I see.

I take my “off topic” chats to my accountability thread. For the record, it started when Bob posted the video.

#978

sorry LOL no problem…with the few posts rolling this just seemed lost LOL

#979

We often go off topic around here. That’s why some non-carnivores feel comfortable here.
I don’t have an accountability thread as I don’t see the need for one.

Squirrels, flowers, all welcome here as long as we’re not getting bent out of shape about anything. It’ll eventually come back around to how much we love steak.

Hence my aborted blurred post (when I realized I’d messed up the blur). Will probably put it back up correctly blurred shortly.

By the way, I live far enough south that the squirrels are always fun to watch. You should migrate south one winter. It’s nicer… well, unless you like snow. I don’t really care much for snow and ice.

Calories do exist even on carnivore, you can’t avoid it. Energy is real.

I don’t do old school diet baggage, ever. I do my own things if it’s about eating (except that in the very beginning I followed others for a while, I wasn’t a choosy kid). I wrote about my very own approach. I doubt eating as little as possible is something any sane and at least slightly knowledgeable person told others, it’s obviously a horrible advice! It’s just was a must for ME. Because I naturally eat very much, too much on a not good enough diet. It’s my slightly higher-carb past, yes, it was relevant here because it changed drastically now that I lowered my carbs as I wrote. It’s totally personal, individual, nothing to do with anything anyone told me.
And it’s obviously not for carnivore in my case. I wrote, on carnivore I changed it to “eating as much as I comfortably can”. Because I don’t want to seriously undereat. But I don’t force myself, of course. I just have a comfortable range and I try to use the upper limit to ensure success. It would be very bad to starve on carnivore just because I feel full almost all the time. Hopefully what I have now is temporal, I don’t know that yet but reaching the necessary calories seems to be a bit tough for me if my carbs are really low so I push when I actually can. Eating as much as I want rarely worked for me. I imagine it will be fine longer term, no matter what diet I will end with but now it’s tough so I changed my attitude. It’s not very fixed, it’s just for now, vaguely, I need to be flexible. But it’s not automatically fine yet.

The original topic is overeating though. I have the opposite problem now but I am aware some people do overeat on carnivore, they write about it even in this forum. I can imagine people very different from me, they exist…

#981

I had some aborted posts about vegetables and fruits here  I try to behave though it’s interesting how I evolved but I wrote a bit about that today… I aborted most of that text too but only because it got too detailed, it was about my individual situation (and even not only about my own diet) and not really interesting.

It’s really warm in Hungary as well. We had a little snow weeks ago that melted right away, now it’s warm, maybe January will be colder and more snowy, it’s the coldest month here, after all.
I am fine as long as I get sunshine (my body thinks its energy source is sunshine, at least partially. I don’t know how I survived the 3-week fog several years ago). The last months were VERY rainy. It’s a rainy part of the country anyway, I remember dry summers where I am from but it’s different here. It’s fine and dandy as long as it’s not rain every day, sometimes most of the day.
There was no rain today just lots of sunshine. Great. I want the same tomorrow, we finally aren’t busy on the weekend and visit a little shop of a farm and hopefully buy some smoked pork. We still have chuck but that’s not enough and a bit more than 4lbs of beef neck for two, well, that surely won’t last long. Especially that half of that will become a food with some plants and I don’t eat that this week.
Anyway, my SO will cook lentils for New Year and some smoked hand of pork will be great with that. Yep, he can understand that. I am sure he still think we have lots of meat but I disagree, I feel I basically live on eggs and yep, I currently do (I ate no meat today, I don’t wanted too salty chuck or eggs with chuck and that’s about my options). “But we normally buy this much meat in a year!” - told me when we still had the ribs as well and I said 4kg beef is little. Yeah but those were different times.

Is beef neck steak a thing? Probably but it doesn’t matter, we totally will make that tomorrow, among other things (I cook some meat and my SO makes stew or something, I don’t know if our traditional dish is a type of stew or just similar. I will call it stew. That contains plants so I skip that for now).
So many things to try with various parts of various animals in the future! I only know that stew should be good, bony parts makes good soup and that I fry anything I can, maybe it will be chewy though…
