On Saturday, I baked my beef chuck without any salt or spices, as a test and I scrambled my eggs without adding salt during the cooking process. I do have to say that meat tastes just fine without salt, it does have that weird saltiness to it and I my eggs tasted just fine! I will continue my experimentation - if I will feel dizzy standing up, I will lick a few grains of salt until I feel better, I will salt my salad but the rest of my meals will be prepared without additional salt.
Another Carnivore Thread
Wow, bet you are one happy person with a new kitchen happening for you. during reno it stinks, but after. new kitchen Sweet!!
Excellent video @barefootbob, I had watched her on Bio Hacker, for a bit, but couldn’t get into her, but here, she was very informative in an entertaining way. Same as David said, I made it all the way through it, no trouble at all.
Much appreciated, thanks for posting it.
I chatted with Kelly occasionally when on ZIOH. Very nice lady. Always gave out great info. on the site.
Her story is very public. It is great some want to get the word out to that level. I am glad she took on that role
I’m thrilled. But my husband is installing it so he has to work it around other jobs! I really miss my meat. Dont want to hijack this thread so for updates on this and salt, please visit “Regina’s so called accountability thread.” Would love to see you there.
Thank you. But I am worse than an eater of vegetables-I grow my own! but I am forced to when confronted with the soggy crap at the store. But mine has more protein, as well. You know, when you accidentally ingest the Caterpillar.
Okay. I will accept the invitation to hang out here (though I have been lurking for quite a while.) Do I have to admit that other than the occasional spicy radish, veggies dont taste that great. Except for onions and garlic of course. But those are bulbs. I would never eat nose to tail, and tend to overdo deli meats, so may need to up the game to vons and get some real meat. Sorry to tell any west coast people but stater’s is no longer famous for their meat.
I think you just did admit that.
C’mon, if you give a toddler a choice between bacon and asparagus what’s the kid going to choose?
We know instinctively from our earliest days that meat is best!
I actually didn’t make it all the way to the end. I was listening to the audio as I drove and got to my destination before it was up.
I do like her term for burger patties: meat cookies! I’m cooking some now to carry for lunch tomorrow and I’ll probably take some tallow or lard “icing” to go on them.
@barefootbob. Sorry if I missed it but can you summarize why you went from keto to carnivore.
The iced meat cookies part was pretty funny. That lady eating her salad and asking what it was on top, and Kelly’s impression of her face when she said “bacon grease”. You know that lady was thinking something like your going to get fat and die of a heart attack from that!
I personally don’t think there is one thing wrong with this. When I get the chance to do a garden, I will eat some of the fruits of my labor. Those are vegetables in their intended form and I can’t help but believe they have their value.
I talked to my kids about this. I said do you like apples picked off the tree? No, they said because they aren’t very sweet. They’re not intended to be as sweet as they are today, those are apples in their true form. Same with most things. We gmo the crap out of things, then wonder why we’re unhealthy.
That is so true. Food today is not food even from my mom’s childhood.
The ramp up with gmo and more has been warp speed in the time schedule of life. And we see immediate disaster effects of this so called food science. Not one doubt about that.
Yea some veggie eaters can hang out here…nothing wrong with that but sure don’t push me or tell me that veg are good, you know I will have to go at ya and say no they are not HA HA HA
Besides in the end we will convert ya all LOL
Bob you are so right, my kid’s first food was a rib. Attacked that thing like a little cave girl.
I am a farmer so I did all the livestock in big form and I did all the farming of crops and sold those. We had the best corn…old heirloom called Baxters. It was so NOT sweet. It had a touch of barely sweet and it kicked azz over this other mass produced enhanced sweet frankencorn they have now. I ate a ton of that stuff til of course the day it came off the list on my low carb journey.
It wasn’t hard to give up our crops when I went lc. Heck in general I never ate them anyway HA
I was always a meat eater. Seafood, watch out, delish. I am an easy carnivore. No one has to force me to eat this way, it suits my food preference so well.
@Regina keto improved things but didn’t fix all that needed to be fixed. Going carnivore, clean carnivore, actually markedly improved my sleep, mood (already good from keto), and has so far allowed me to come off the only med I was taking. Hoping that’s a permanent fix because I don’t want to be trapped in our miserable sickcare system that seems to suck people in and keep them there in a never ending cycle of meds and side effects. I also just feel better all around.
You know that is a key thing in any of our eating plans.
We do tend to do deli meats sometimes.
We tend do to ‘low protein’ as in controlling our portion size to 3-4 oz. of beef.
We are controlled sometimes by our wallet in what we buy vs. what we truly want in the meat/seafood counter depts.
I so get that.
But one thing I did since I went carnivore is I buy for me on what I want.
I would rather not buy crap at a store when we shop for whatever, let hubby buy a shirt and kid buy a pair of shoes, I won’t buy a shirt or shoes, heck I got those…what I want is a honking big filet mignon steak. Worth every penny to me LOL
I put my money in my meat and seafood now. I don’t care about stuff and would rather allot my wallet to my food now vs. other junk that kinda doesn’t matter on a daily basis to me anymore.
My food is my true need. My money best serves me there. I can give up stuff purchases on many things to put my money on 2 lbs. of crab legs That doesn’t bother me one bit LOL
So focus on my meat/seafood is very important to me. I think our quality of beef/seafood we do eat is a huge importance to a carnivore. We are restricted tight, but there is a huge amt of great beef and seafood out there that suits us and if we go for it and eat it and enjoy it, we got it made in the shade I think.
Go get the good meats!! You will love it!!
totally random, because I can’t remember where I was talking about this, and I didn’t want to start a new thread.
I tried liverwurst and it’s not totally despicable! I actually mashed it up with some sour cream because I can’t quite handle it on its own. I’m going to spread some on my burgers today for lunch.
I even got hubby to try some on his burger last night, told him to try it before I say what it is. Haha… he said it was good. I said “yay, it’s liver!!!” lol.
I know we don’t NEED liver (or organs) on carnivore but I am really finding it hard to eat more than 1 lb of meat per day, so I really don’t want to deprive myself of required minerals and I know liver is a supermeat!
I really noticed the liver taste with liverwurst at first, but my tastebuds definitely got over that with time. I’m still having a hard time with liver-liver, but at least my napkin no longer eats it.
Edit: there are some online natural beef suppliers that sell ground beef mixed with organs. My husband wants to give that a try.
