I’m a lefty, and found that stopping writing was the best solution
Wth?
_typing becomes the go-to form of textual communication_
Lefties everywhere, knowing they’ll never have to use a three-ring binder or right-handed desk again: in tears T-Thank you…
First, you CAN do this. I use Carb Manager App and look up everything prior to consumming it. It does help to have a plan for the day and snacks readily available. I make sugar free fat bombs. You cannot eat a lot of nuts but you can choose the right kind of nuts that will keep you satisfied and under your goal. Also, I eat a mixture of argula and spinach twice a day.
Those Emmy cookies are addictive. I had two. So now I’m at 34g of net carbs for the day. At least I did better than yesterday. But now I know I probably should only have one of those cookies, and not every day. Like once a week?
I’ve had computer issues and lost a lot of my files but I can take a look later. I’ll pm you. Meanwhile, just google something like “teach left-handed kids to write”. There is at least one organization you’ll find and plenty of teacher or mommy blogs with tips.
Because handwriting, especially cursive, improves cognitive ability.
I hate typing, so my selection bias really likes this article in the NYT. I always take notes by hand. Pen or Apple Pencil, either way is fine.
Handwriting on a tablet also solves a lot of problems for lefties since there are no rings, no smeared ink or graphite, and you can choose left handed mode so it understands your pressure angles. (I’m not left handed. I’d love to know lefties opinions on how well this works.)
I just prefer to type. The cleanest my cursive ever is is when I mirror-write, and ain’t nobody reading that so I’m all for just teaching kids to type well. It’s the great equalizer.
I get that. But I do wonder how you would feel about writing if you had access to tablets when you were learning to write. The emotional component when you are learning is a big part of it. If a skill is frustrating, and then you find a workaround (like typing,) you never go back to the frustrating skill.
As much a fan of handwriting as I am, I also don’t think anyone has to take the time to learn it if you’re happy with typing. I do think children should be learning in school. And reading cursive is important. It might not be in the future but it still is now.
Probably about the same amount of overwhelming joy I felt when I first found a left-handed notebook and a left-handed pen. Wish they were more widely available and didn’t cost ten times what right-handed ones did.
Why do I think it’s important to learn cursive? Because when I take notes by hand (in cursive because I write cursive faster than I can print), I learn the material more quickly and retain it more comprehensively. As long as I take copious notes by hand, I almost don’t need to study the material otherwise. It’s handy!
Me too.
That’s why it was invented. And it seems the connected lettering is part of why it helps with memory.
Agreed. I also think it’s important to know how to do by hand, even if tech can do it for us now. I don’t like the thought of skills being lost. I also read a lot of post apocalyptic fiction
One bonus is that I can leave Christmas lists and notes to my husband out in the open and my kids can’t read them!
I don’t think my body likes too much beef. I’m gonna have to scale back on the meat. At least beef. Anyone have any good pescatarian Keto sites/guides/books?
The poor OP keeps posting and the convo keeps going back to the trials and tribulations of cursive writing.
The files section here might have some recipes. Chicken wings are great for keto if made without carby sauces or breading. I do a lot of fish (salmon cooked on a cast iron skillet with butter is awesome) and I use chicken breasts with a fattier sauce on them. You can definitely do keto without beef.
Thanks @CatGirl. Is there something unique about the cast skillet that makes it better than a regular pan? I probably could google that, huh? lol.
dietdoctor.com might have some good ideas. They do a good job accounting for a variety of needs.
Thanks for the reminder @CatGirl
Agreed - Apple, being generally conservative in the data privacy area, is providing proof that others are not!
