Wth?

I heard all the talk about schools not teaching it anymore when my kids were just starting school. They went to a private school and I was delighted to know they still were going to teach it. When I moved my kids to public school 2 years ago, I assumed they would be some of the few kids to know how to write cursive. Then I found out that at least the public schools they are in still teach it, so all of the kids there know how to write it lol. They also still do multiplication tables haha. We were surprised to find out though that they let the kids just use calculators in 6th grade. We still had to show our work!

F that, I want it to interface to my thoughts directly, talking is too much work.

(Empress of the Unexpected) #83

I hate writing, cursive or otherwise. My mother taught me to type when I was six (thank God.) I started first grade at a private school, and learned cursive writing there. Switched to a public school for second grade, and the teachers informed my mother that the students would not learn cursive until third grade, so I was not allowed to use it. And I wonder why I can’t even read my own writing!

See my handwriting is complete crap because I was a lefty taught by right-handed teachers who know nothing about teaching us how to properly hold a pen. Even Obama had the infamous hooked arm.

(Hyperbole- best thing in the universe!) #85

Yeah, that’s not good. I’m glad there are more resources for teachers now. I’ve had a couple left handed students so I’ve spent some time online learning how to teach them. I hope I do well! One girl’s mom was grateful for the information I found so she can help her too. It took me forever to find lefty scissors for kids, so I stocked up when I finally found them! Having the right tools makes such a difference.

(Natasha) #86

@Ruina - one of my children is a leftie, do you have links to any of those resources you could send me please?

(Running from stupidity) #87

I do this daily - out here we use sensible dates, you people have your stupid system, so when it’s two number sets I have no idea which is which

Not with Apple, it’s not. That’s why Siri is so far behind the others.

Why?

I think I used a pen three times last year.

(Sasha) #88

@Ruina I’m left handed. My dad tried to make me right handed so now I can play sports with my right hand but I write and eat with the left. I also still get confused if someone tells me to go right. Sometimes I’ll turn left.

Hey guys, how do you feel about Emmy’s cookies? They have 6 grams net carbs. Seems like a good way to ease into Keto for sugar lovers. Or no?

(Running from stupidity) #89

Well, 6g is a third of 20g if people are aiming for that, which is a LOT.

For perspective, I get antsy when a full meal gets up around 8g.

(Chris) #90

BS. Just because one (LOL) of their products sucks (SHOCKING) doesn’t mean they’re not currently sifting through my porn history to use it against me one day in less subtle way than Google or Amazon currently does.

(Running from stupidity) #91

OK, I wasn’t being literal, I was just using their own stance against them

They’ve managed to reframe a complete failure to get into advertising as being “privacy focused,” which the faithful believe and everyone else knows is complete rubbish.

But it does mean that Siri is abysmal compared to the others. Even Cortana is better.

It’s a massive privacy risk, but fortunately Apple says a fix is in the works.

DRINK THAT KOOLAID, FOLKS!

(Chris) #92

Cheers, hahaha.

(Daisy) #93

Because I think it’s important to know cursive, if for no other reason than to be able to sign a check or other legal documents

(Running from stupidity) #94

But your signature can be anything, can’t it? You could draw a picture of a cat, as far as I know.

(Chris) #95

Legally, yes. Or a whale. Or an X. It can just be a squiggle.

(Daisy) #96

Just because you can do something, doesn’t mean you should Lol.
I guess I’m just old fashioned. If the rest of the world can’t, so be it, but at least my kids can.

(Running from stupidity) #97

What if it’s a cute cat? Or a cute whale, with a cool spout?

But you don’t need to learn cursive just to do a signature, just learn to reproduce your signature the way you want, and you’re good.

But this is second-tier compared to a cat or a whale.

#98

Everyone should learn how to mirror-write like the rest of us lefties. It has no use, but I learned it so everyone else should. Get on our level.

#99

That’s not part of my keto eating plan

(Running from stupidity) #100

GOOD GIRL
