Lightly salted water (suggest sea salt) is all you really need. I also drink black coffee too.
And just drink when you are thirsty.
This is about refraining, not doing. Its quite easy once you get into the rhythm of it and you see the weight loss, money savings and time/effort savings. These start to add up too.
There is no standard for fasting. What you might want to do will depend on how much weight you want to lose and what else you are fasting for. I lost 57lbs in 6 weeks and honestly, it wasn’t that hard.
Once you get in the (new) habit of not eating, it becomes your new habit. I think it takes about 2 weeks to adopt a new habit. The food cravings for the food I was addicted to (fast food/fried food/pizza/bread based foods) was the hardest part for me.
I just did not cave. I think I didn’t cave because I knew that if I wanted something different in my life, then I have to make different choices. Its just so easy to go out and get a bucket of friend chicken, or a massive burger and french fries, pizza, a box of donuts, bagels, etc. No-one will stop me and there are lots of “dealers” out there ready to supply me with these addictive “foods” (they are not really food actually).
I’ve come out the other end of my cravings, broken my addictions and loving the real food I now eat, when I do eat.
Also, don’t be hard on yourself if, say, you aim for 5 days of fasting and you end up eating before that time has arrived. You can always start again. If you are too hard on yourself, you might not do it again.
