Without Carbs you will die. Sugar is an essential nutrient. You need 53 essential nutrients

This is definitely my style!

I’ll do me, and they can do them.

It’s not my job to educate them but to become the best version of me that I possibly can become.

That is within my control as I have control over me and the choices I make. I do not have control over the actions or choices of others, so to me it’s as pointless as preaching to or trying to control the weather.

Wow - I must be dead then. I’ve been doing this for two and half years.
Maybe that’s why I weigh so much less - I’m actually a ghost :ghost:

(Mike Glasbrener) #66

I died quite some time ago also…

Anyone who calls sugar an essential nutrient has trouble with rational thinking. The arguments against sugar being essential are too numerous to list!

The brain can run partly on ketones, but does still require some glucose, which the liver can supply.

(Mark) #68

You’d have gotten more respect (or at least less attack) if you’d announced your conversion to a little known religious group. Its very telling how people react when we create cognitive dissonance by stating claims that don’t fit the food religion’s orthodoxy. Keto On!

Thank you so much for your answer.

It’s easy to keep your composure when you’ve done the research and know that you’re right…

(joievawter) #71

People and their 2 CENT opinions…

(Michele) #72

Isn’t that a bit rich? 2cents? It barely rates a cent and that’s one that has been run over by a fleet of Kenwood trucks so that you can no longer tell denomination :joy:

#73

Makes no difference what your composure is or what you know when your talking to a brain dead ignorant moron that doesn’t care about stupid things like fact, research, what their own eyes see or common sense for that. I’ve been eating this way for almost a decade most of the time and although I don’t know everything I know enough to take down most naysayers IF they have their brain turned on for the conversation and if their willing to entertain the fact that their just repeating what they’ve heard, usually doesn’t go down like that.

Usually goes more like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYKScQ3gn2I

Yes…well…as Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people… they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” I stand by what I said…you need to do some serious research using reputable sources. 53 “essential nutrients” that you put into your body, huh… Depends upon who’s behind creating that list of “essential” nutrients, and who backed/paid for the research, and who was on the panel that made that determination. I won’t be responding to anything else you feel the need to add. I have better things to do!

“When you attempt to convince a fool, you prove there are two.” Congratulations to you on your progress.

As good an argument against having neighbors as I’ve ever seen. I have few and don’t really talk to them. Privacy is the best policy, IMHO.

(Consensus is Politics) #77

You mean something like this?

This is a very hard thing for people to wrap their heads around. I am neither obese nor diabetic but when I found this out it was mind-blowing and goes against so much of what people are told.

(Trish) #79

I understand that concept, @brenda; however, what about a case such as my 25-year-old son who is obese at 325ish pounds but not diabetic and not prediabetic either as per recent labs? I think it’s a ying and yang sort of thing that can go both ways. Thoughts?

I’d be curious if he’s had his fasting insulin levels checked. That can show there’s a problem years before the blood sugar level rises.

(8 year Ketogenic Veteran) #81

Simple. He’s insulin resistant. It just hasn’t reached a point where it alerts the medical professionals based on their cut-offs on their charts. Have him have his fasting insulin checked. The fact of the matter is, no matter who you are if you have have excess body fat in your body cannot access it to burn for fuel because your insulin is high you will continue to pack on the pounds. The sad part is many times people that are very overweight are also always very hungry because they can’t access the fuel they need. It’s a vicious cycle. Doesn’t matter to me how overweight anyone is, because I know that they don’t do it on purpose.

(8 year Ketogenic Veteran) #82

@Vega
I read your comment after I wrote mine. Yes absolutely fasting insulin. It’s likely very high.
