Will a scoop of Collagen Peptide in coffee break fast?

(Robert Pickel) #1

I’ve been trying the IF for a couple of weeks: 17-18 hours daily. From 7:00 in the evening to noon the next day, all I have is a couple of mugs of coffee (and a couple of glasses of water). To one of those “mugs” of coffee, I add 1 tablespoon of MCT oil and a “scoop” (about a tablespoon) of powered collagen peptides. That’s it and I don’t get the least bit hungry. Does this make sense or will the added CP break the benefits of the IF? Thanks!

I would think so because of the protein

yeah if mTOR picks up that you’ve consumed a protein it’ll turn off autophagy from my understanding.

Perhaps just take it with your regular meals or eating window — there will be plenty of protein going down the gullet at that time. I don’t think the body will notice that extra 9g of protein.

Anyone know better?

I believe that would be over 50 cals, so yes. Typically anything over 50 cals will stimulate an insulleginic response and thus break your fast.
