Just got the audio book of ‘the case against sugar’ by Gary Taubes. Don’t seem to have enough free time to read anymore
WIKI: Book Recommendations
The Obesity Code by Dr. Jason Fung
This one is less specifically Ketogenic. It introduces factors that have lead to the Obesity epidemic, how the medical establishment is getting it wrong, and ways to combat it.
Keto Clarity by Jimmy Moore & Dr. Eric Westman
This it probably the most straight forward Ketogenic Diet book there is.
The Big Fat Surprise by Nina Teicholz
This book and it’s author were featured on the Podcast #20
I don’t think there is enough praise for The Obesity Code in this universe. It was a life changer for me. Also infuriating (but not surprising) to realize the lengths doctors and company are going to protect the status quo.
All of the books @NathanHall have posted are excellent (or at least I thought so). I just bought the Complete Guide to Fasting by Dr. Fung and Jimmy Moore. Hopefully I can finish that before the new year and post an update on it.
The Everything Guide to The Ketogenic Diet
This is a good book for laying out the basics of the Ketogenic diet in one resource. You can find all of the information online, but this consolidates it.
The second half of the book is recipes.
My faves have all been named already however, I do find that the following books - while not dedicated to Keto per se - do not contradict and have, in fact, been a fantastic complement to my keto-education.
Wheat Belly by Dr. William Davis
Grain Brain by David Perlmutter
Primal Body Primal Mind by Nora Gedgaudas
Primal Blueprint ( a whole series of books) by Mark Sisson
Toxic Oil by David Gillespie
Sweet Poison by David Gillespie
Iodine : Why You Need It, Why You Can’t Live Without It by David Brownstein
The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Living: An Expert Guide to Making the Life-Saving Benefits of Carbohydrate Restriction Sustainable and Enjoyable By Voleck and Phinney
Also. Dr Daniel Amen’s books
CHANGE YOUR BRAIN CHANGE YOUR LIFE
and
THE BRAIN WARRIOR’S WAY.
Because these books focus so much on the way certain foods can be damaging - and they just happen to be things that should also be eliminated to eat keto - it strengthened my resolve to stick with it. When I wasn’t doing it for my blood sugar, or my pant size, I was doing it to be in good mental shape etc etc etc.
I’d like to 2nd The Big Fat Surprise. IMO, it is critical to get someone to understand some of the ideas that The Big Fat Surprise introduces before someone tries to go keto or LCHF. I have found that the high fat ideas are just too foreign to people that they will not make the change.
I listened to 2ketodudes through the first 20 episodes until The Big Fat Surprise episode and that intrigued me so much that I listened to the book from the library before listening to more 2ketodude episodes. At then end of the book, I was so mad at the nutrition community and what they did to us in the last 60 years, that I couldn’t just go back to eating cereal in the mornings. It was after reading that book that I started seriously considering the keto/LCHF diet. Until then I was just telling my family about these “crazy” guys and how they were losing weight eating lots of fat and I just couldn’t understand.
Please list your favorite Introduction to Keto Books, with any associated websites, reviews, ways to purchase, etc. here. Books like Keto Clarity, etc.
Some of it is not as accurate now, but I have a soft spot for Protein Power by the Eades’. It introduced me to low carb many years ago.
Gary Taubes are some of the best in general science-wise.
Phinney and Volek’s book is probably the best. Even Eades once said so!

I also have a soft spot for Eades’ Protein Power as it was the first book I read on lc and followed way back in the mid-90’s. It started me on my lc journey that went primal, paleo, Whole30 and finally keto for life. No problem ditching the grains and processed foods but sugar has always been my nemesis.
I would include both of Phinney and Volek’s books-
