What's the best insulin spike frequency?

#1

Hey guys,

I am currently on an extended fast (please check my other threads).

Once I return to feeding, should I devide my “maintenance” 2000 calories over the canonical 3 meals a day ( three eventual insulin spikes ) or should I have all of my alloted calories at breakfast and fast for the rest of the day ?

My rationale behind eating once a day, at breakfast, is to have one insulin spike ( if any, being on a keto diet ) at breakfast and therefore reduce the probability of insulin resistance.

I think the issue might be trading insulin minimization for refeeding ease and effectiveness. Most people need to ease back into eating from an EF for practical reasons. Obsessing over insulin “spikes” (they aren’t really “spikes” in the pejorative sense, just the natural reaction to eating food and under keto they shouldn’t rise very high) is probably not worth the risk of refeeding problems if you binge your way back into eating :poop::flushed:

Or try the big meal and let us know?
