What did you learn today?

(Laurie) #1166

I don’t know what that’s all about. Thank goodness (I guess).

(Libby) #1167

k.d. lang is pretty good

#1168

Her Hallelujah is spine tingling :slightly_smiling_face:

(Running from stupidity) #1169

Jason Aldean was, to me, the funniest of them all - “Guns for all! Guns for all! WTF? How is someone shooting at ME? Change the laws NOW!”

(John) #1170

To steal a line from Steven Wright - I like country music. Just not this country.

(Eric - The patient needs to be patient!) #1171

There was also western swing which today is sometimes called texas swing. Bill Wills was the king of western swing and Asleep at the Wheel is keeping the music alive. Might be obvious but I am a fan.

(Running from stupidity) #1172

So many awesome musos in that band.

(Laurie) #1173

Yes, there are many great subgenres and wonderful performers. Too many to mention!

(And let’s not mention the pop country tunes on the radio.)

(Eric - The patient needs to be patient!) #1174

Let’s not forget Alison Krauss and Union Station.

I forgot to post the video of Union Station: https://youtu.be/3larcGfwC0g

#1175

Listen to Dolly’s Jolene slowed to 33 rpm. Completely transforms the song.

(Eric - The patient needs to be patient!) #1176

She is great live as well. Funny, and connects with the crowd.

(Eric - The patient needs to be patient!) #1177

I should add, she is prolific as a song writer. More than 3,000 songs.

(Eric - The patient needs to be patient!) #1178

This is pretty cool at 33. What a great voice at any speed.

(Running from stupidity) #1179

No, let’s mention them. So many great voices and musicians in that lot. I mean, REALLY great musicians. (Brad Paisley, anyone?)

Also, Paul Franklin - saw him when he toured down here with Dire Straits. Amazingly good band.

How could we? Angelic voice.

Stupid YT won’t let me, but I’ve heard it before and it’s wild

Saw Dolly here a couple of years ago, and she was awesome. Great band.

#1180

His career survived “Accidental Racist” which was pretty transcendent in its ineptitude.

(Running from stupidity) #1181

Oh, he’s a good Southern Boy who has done plenty of dumb things. But as a guitarist, he’s in my top five pretty easily. And I’m really a hair-metal guy.

But the LL Cool J stuff on that track was the w weirdest stuff of all. (IIRC, haven’t heard it for years as it’s not in my BP or NC playlists.)

#1182

The fact he chose LL Cool J to collaborate with proved he was completely out of touch with who was relevant in the hip-hop community.

(Diane) #1183

But he’s so purty!

(Jane) #1184

They played at the Starlight Ballroom in Snook, TX. Wasn’t too far from where I went to college.

It was named so because it was an outdoor theater. They kept playing even when it started to rain because the stage was covered. Nobody left. Great music!

There was a motorcycle group there with gorgeous ladies with them. The guys had t-shirts that said “We eat ‘em to the core” and the gals had matching shirts with chewed apple cores on them”

(Susan) #1185

I learned that next day Fat Head Pizza is still good

I also learned that there are over 9,500 species of birds in the world. Scientists typically group them into 30 categories. Birds are the most widespread of all animals around the world. :open_mouth:
