I don’t know if there’s a reason you shouldn’t use it, but personally I don’t like it as all the types I’ve found here have additives that make it smell strange. I know I could order it online, but for what they cost compared to the cost of butter and the 30 mins prep time, making my own makes so much more sense.

Is ghee just clarified butter like my Granny used to make? ie heating several ounces of butter gently till the fat and milky part separate and then chill, taking the clarified butter off the top of the milky stuff and keeping/using.
Pretty much yes. Best, I think, to cook it until the milk solids turn dark brown (or black in my case) then filter it (I use a nut milk bag) as this removes them better than just skimming off the top.
I’ve got a mountain of muslin squares I’ve been cutting up to filter mine! finally getting rid of those things!
Gosh, I don’t know, Allie. I googled a recipe and it wants a cast iron skillet or a Dutch oven, a fine sieve, cheesecloth, and a food thermometer. None of which I have. Plus my ADD is almost guaranteed to f it up.
Sorry to be a Debbie Downer. I’ve had at least 4 nightmares tonight, woke up crying twice; been up since 4:30. Probably just PMS, but I’m not feeling really mentally ready to tackle a new project. What if I just added butter and salt to the coffee and put it in the nutribullet?

Honest @Sharon_E the recipe you’ve found is over-complicating things. Just put butter in a pan on the stove and heat it gently, let it simmer away until you can see the milk solids have separated and gone brown, then pour through something to filter it. Muslin is fine, nut milk bag is easiest, but I’ve even used an old tea towel before as it’s just to remove the hardened milk solids.

Broke my 36 hour fast this morning. I was pretty hungry all day yesterday. This is my husband’s dinner from last night. I cooked keto figuring I’d eat my half today.
Cod and purple cabbage, with the peach, tomato, basil, salad withBalsamic vinegarette. The recipe called for honey in the salad dressing. Much too sweet with the peaches anyway. I did get a taste. Kind of a weird combination.
2 x 1/2 lb ground meat patties and [about] 1/2 lb chicken liver cooked in ghee and duck fat. (I did put a little of the ghee/duck fat on the burger once it was plated).
ate about 2.5 lbs of food … lost .6 lb over night (I do weigh nightly).
Well, she finally did it… The Wife @DoggieMom canned me. … I mean, all I said was ‘I was out of potted meat?’ - So she did this… Guess I’m stocked back up, a little.
My car battery was dead for a few days, and it was no laughing matter running out of eggs.
