My first crack at Maria Emmerich’s bread /buns recipe looks like it came out OK. Letting them cool before cutting, so not sure just yet. I used whole eggs and added a little yeast, which had the whole place smelling like “fresh bread!” After I do some laundry duty, I’m going to make another batch & get the sizes right. These are too small (more like dinner rolls than sandwich buns).

We both agree, quite tasty, if a bit purple! LOL We tried it with Kerrygold & with sharp cheddar. The texture is quite similar to whole wheat bread. I’m going to make some buns to put in our truck freezer for occasional use.

Roasted a chicken in the slow cooker today.

Made chicken Dijon for supper, coronation chicken for tomorrow and Monday, put two generous portions of plain chicken in the freezer for a future supper (probably involving cream and blue cheese), made two tubs of stock by putting skin and bones etc back into the slow cooker with some water and aromatics, AND then ate the bone ends - a delicious, soft marrow-filled treat!

Posted this question in health, but does anyone know if “organic cane alcohol” actually contains carbs? I tried to find an answer online but only got irrelevant info about alcohol in general

If it’s distilled and not sweet it’s fine. Distilled Cane alcohol is Rum. That’s distilled from a mash of raw fermented sugarcane.

I thought it would be difficult to leave the batter as fish and chips used to be my favourite! But I tasted a little of the batter to try and torture myself, and even though it was incredibly crispy, I could taste the oil, so it was no willpower to leave it! NSV for me! :blush:
